gee that was a painful quarter.. how about we try not kicking it to the defender in q3?

Shane Valenti just ran all the way from full forward to the wing to chase a tackle... just shows how much this bloke works...

i saw him take off, casey were away... heading down the wing, i don't know why he even bothered in the first place, most footballers wouldn't even think about it... but he sprinted 80 metres, the casey player fumbled, he got to the ball, made a contest and won the ball for sandy...

Carroll just charged straight into a blokes back as he was taking a mark... stupid!

Nathan Carroll reported for charging in the third quarter.

Thoughts?

I reckon he'll get 2 weeks for charging ... video looked quite bad ... wasn't anywhere near the marking contest, so decided just to cannon straight into his back.

Having said that I don't think it should be a reportable incident ... no real chance of injuring the player, 50 metres should be sufficient...

No Whelan.

which might mean no Davey tomorrow.

Thoughts?

I think someone has read the writing on the wall.. but its taken him this long to understand it. Not doing himself any favours... but might be doing us one !!

russian just took a big mark over some poor blokes back...

7 kicks, 10 handballs and 10 marks for the big fella... i doubt any of his kicks have been effective though...

I used to think Jamar might have a littel somethign going for him. I dont anymore. He is a liability on your side. No awareness whatso ever..and has no idea of how or where to kick a ball.. great skills for a player huh !!

the more i see of valenti the more i like him. he is very creative, esp with his handball in close. reminds me of Sam Mitchell. Given some chances I think he will cut it. I like the look of Martin, looks pretty athletic for a big man, coughs it up a bit but I think he'll be OK.

Very disappointed he isn't in the MFC team tomorrow. A perfect replacement for Moloney.

Thought Martin was very good today down back. Like the look of him and always seemed in control of the one on one contests. I think I swa him outmarked once but beat blokes like top 10 pick Ben McEvoy easily.

Will we see Carroll in the Red and Blue again?

he will get 2 or 3 weeks for the charge, then he will have to fight his way back into the side vis Sandy. By then there will only be a few weeks left in the season.

I am sure a lot of people want Carroll on the scrap heap, but in my mind he has always been a guy that should be a 3rd tall defender, not the main man. With the develiopment of Garland and Warnock, I would like to see Carroll reatined next season as a 3rd back than will not ahve to take on the main big forwards of the opposition.

i think he could ve very good in that role.

I reckon it all depends on how much the other guys begin to rebound. It is great to have pure stoppers in your side but you need guys capable of being attacking as well.

Yeah I reckon you're right. Davey mustn't be fully fit so they've left out one emergency in case.

I watched most of the match today: Sandy were shocking. They turned it over repeatedly by foot and there was no real focal target up forward.

Daniel Bell looked alright, but I'm no expert.

A very much undermanned Sandringham side started well but was outgunned by the Casey Scorpions out at Casey Fields to lose by 32 points in what ended as a disappointing afternoon for the club. Daniel Bell and Shane Valenti were the best performers from the Demon pojnt of view and Kyle Cheney put in a very encouraging effort. As stated elsewhere, Nathan Carroll was booked for charging his opponent in the third quarter.

Sandringham 3.2.20 4.4.28 6.11.47 8.11.59

Casey Scorpions 2.2.14 5.3.33 8.5.53 14.7.91

The Reserves had a comfortable victory after a 10 goal final quarter in a game that saw Michael Newton come back from a string of injuries that have hampered his season to date. He booted four goals. Ricky Petterd, also on the comeback trail, was best on the ground in his second game at this level - both against the Scorpions in consecutive weeks.

Sandringham 1.2.8 7.8.50 9.10.64 19.14.128

Thanks!

Newton with 4 on return and Petterd in the best. Excellent news.

Hope to see them both in Sandy seniors next week.

For people who watched the game, can we get a review of that list of 'best' players, as usually reality varies greatly from the match report.

Cheers.

I think they have the best players right this time Jaded but it should be noted that the team played well below its usual standards so getting in the best players today doesn't mean a great deal. I'll have more to say in my report which I'll try to get written up tomorrow.

Y.M, obviously u didn't watch the sandy game today. Carrol was S.H.I.T.E. he consistently turned it over, and had goals kicked regularly on him. he gave away 2 fifty metre penalties which cost goals. 4 times he tried to spoil, missed it, and that led to goals.

He is PATHETIC and i thank our lucky stars that finally we have some good young KPP so that he can be delisted at years end. he's sooo bad.

Also, his report was soft and he 100% will be cleared for it. he hardly touched the guy tho it was a bit late into his back. worth a free kick n no more.

I love Valenti. gets the number 1 tag each week. he's too good for vfl. Buckley ok also. Zomer took 3 really strong marks i liked. Cheney also looks Very promising. i like the look of him. neat skills and good tackling.

all in all, the game was pathetic quality and it was 3rd v 4th on the ladder. crap skills and crap game. anyone who thinks the best vfl team would have a chance against the worst afl team has NO IDEA

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
