Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He can set the world on fire, and still some people will find faults in his game. Amazing.

I've been critical of McLean over the last 12 months but he was extremely good yesterday. If we'd won he would be a near certainty for 3 Brownlow votes - as it is he still should get two.

Another 11 weeks of performances/efforts like that and I'll jump back on your McLean for captain bandwagon... ;)

Did Miller do anything yesterday?

Miller had 4 assists yesterday. Did some good things but probably didn't get enough of it.

It is amazing how he has turned it around this year. Plays like a footballer now. He needs to build on that and start dominating games.

I expect there are very few games he will dominate in. As long as he is serviceable accountable and at least breaks against his direct opponent and provides advantage to the team even I will be happy. If he does better than that....great.

I think you're selling Miller a bit short. He still has a way to go but the attributes are there. He can run all day and is a great mark when it is out in front. But most importantly he is making much better decisions when he has it. He won't be a Jonathan Brown but I expect him to put some sort of stamp on the second half of this year. I'd be disappointed if he is just breaking even.

At least he doesn't let his direct opponent run up and the ground and kick a goal, and he doesn't try to pull of miracle goals instead of doing the team thing

I think your assessment of his capabilities is correct. He gives a contest, he creates opportunities for goal (knows his limitations) and he is more calm now under pressure so he makes some decent decisions instead of always looking for the quick handpass.

Was better than Bate yesterday, that's for sure. His gather on the goal line and handpass to Sylvia was excellent.

As opposed to not having it. ;)

There is alot to like about Miller in regard his athleticism, courage and his attitude. I just dont think he has an adept enough football brain to dominate games regularly. He will have his days in the sun but....

Stuff it. I hope he has a heatwave!

Agree 100%.

Consistency is the key for him now, no doubt. He needs to be "solid, servicable and accountable" every week. I've been quite pleased with Miller's output this year, as i've noticed many others have too.

As long as our expectations of Miller are reasonable and realistic, the "Miller-bashing" seen here in the past, will stay in the past.

Miller marked at about fifty at the Punt Rd end. He didn't think too long (clearly not his greatest asset.) Speared a great pass to Young Col who grabbed a fine mark. Then goaled.

There were glimpses yesterday of what Miller could be in a more settled, mature and talented team.

I've been a critic but considering where we're at I'd have him as a keeper for the time being.

Considering Miller has not got Neitz & Robbo to help him and is the main focus up forward, he really has put his hand up. Has not shirked a contest all year and is presenting all the time.

Give credit where it's due.

"he really has put his hand up. Has not shirked a contest all year and is presenting all the time."

I think it's really helped that they've stopped putting Miller down the backline. Players running out of defence can anticipate the way he presents. His style takes a lot of running. Though he's not a great overhead mark, it takes a tall man to stop him. Defenders that tall have trouble running with him.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
