Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
Roger Mellie replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
The MFC is a colossally soft target. The media have found an avenue to take the AFL to task. The more media pressure, the worse it is for the MFC The AFL either confesses that the system they created not only encouraged tanking but made it unofficially obligatory or they sanction the MFC. Knowing the AFL, I cant see the former...ie. we were wrong! yeah nah Terry Wallet has said as much if not more than Bailey to implicate Richmond, as has Fev at Carlton (not that blind Freddie couldn't see it for himself at the Kruiser Cup ) - then there's West Coast, the Filth etc etc. I was quietly confident, it would disappear and the AFL would take measures to change the system, but the issue being constantly raked up by the media might force their hand. Just what we need -

A lot of you guys should work for the AFL. Now you can sell the dream of playing all the interstate sides at the G because we must deserve it

Anyone know what Tom Grimes is like? Richmond did well with Dylan a couple of years ago, apart from the hammies.

Sylvia (probably said that for 5 years running) Trengove (get a yard) Blease (get a tank) Jamar (get off the ground) Cant count -

This is comical and in spite of your posts, it continues to grow legs. I suppose a lot of posters have you on ignore, or cant read

If they can dump their spuds on us, it's only fair that we return the favour. They can have Morton

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
Roger Mellie replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
There's nothing wrong with Mooney's angle. The top 25 or so in the draft are bona fide talent and most clubs would not be trading out picks in that region for anything. What he's not factoring in is, as Nasher mentions above, is our somewhat unique situation: - desperate need of bigger bodies and mature players, not only to fill the void but show the younger players the work ethic, professionalism and will to win, no matter what - elite, elite, elite - not sure if anyone's noticed but we don't really have a fully locked and loaded (thanks Terry) recruiting department. Todd Viney is hardly a recruiting maestro to date so until the Collingwood dude comes on board, we probably haven't got the absolute expertise/structure needed (yet). For me, that's just as big a reason for trading out picks - we've got Viney, Hogan, Barry and pick 4 so as much as i was licking my lips over the prospect of Stringer (13), Graham (20) etc etc etc, I can live with it for now In two years or so we will be the champs or the chumps -
Interesting stats - I'd like to see 2012's figures and suspect Sauce Jacobs has moved up the list The question is can the big russian find his way back to 2011 form

What annoys me about the MFC Website
Roger Mellie replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
What sharts me about the website is the selectivity of their news releases. Sometimes they release a statement or article in a minute, other times there's dead silence and it comes out through the media. Eg hearing Sheahan and Cook are delisted from the hun and not the MFC -

2012 Player Review - # 32 Michael Evans (R)
Roger Mellie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kicking was his weakness before his injury as well as not being hugely blessed with speed - IMO When he finally got back to playing with Casey I saw more of the same - but would like to emphasise, he appears to have a good footy brain and puts himself in the right places. I think he would be a bit of a coach's dream in terms of effort, attitude and toughness. A couple of times at Casey it was obvious he hurt himself (back) laying and receiving a couple of tackles - didn't stop him though and there was no thought of calling the trainer. It's quite possible the back injury affected his kicking or he's just an ordinary kick. He's put a lot of size on while injured and IMO deserves his spot on the senior list next year. I hope he gets an injury free run at it -

Back injury I quite like Evans, has a crack and knows how to play. Having said that - shocking kick -
Can we compare apples with apples? Danyeel Pearce v J Rivers Both Rising Star winners Both not over the hill Both in crap teams and I wont mention the fact that Pearce is soft Pearce finished equal 8th in 2012 B & F with a heap of other players (slight exaggeration) Pearce finished equal 5th in last years B & F with a heap of other players (slight exaggeration) Rivvo finished 5th in 2012 and 2nd in 2011 One moves interstate, one doesn't (but may as well) Bit hard to fathom the 20 odd places in the draft

Round 1, 2013 Melbourne v Port Adelaide @ MCG
Roger Mellie replied to wattsup's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope this doesn't mean the majority of our home games against interstate sides again.
