  1. I think Hogan would go one or two with Boyd. You would have to imagine if he is kicking bags of six in the VFL at under 18 level he would be kicking 10! Also big forwards are hard to come by and this year could have 2 very good ones. Luckily we already have him which is a good feeling so we can work on our midfield.
  2. Could be a good way for the club to make back the money from the Tanking debacle. Though betting on that could land us in hot ater again..... JK
  3. I doubt we will get a 'star' so to speak, but we should be able to lure a very handy established mid, someone who isn't getting much game time because they are behind a strog midfield. That is where we need to start just like Richmond did with Grigg and Houli. Once you do that and start winning then it becomes easier to lure better talent, and in the end you don't have to lure them they ask to come because they want to be apart of a winning side. That's what we need to aim for.
  4. It's actually great that we have an abundance of talls. They are very hard to get a hold of and develop so we are sitting pretty there. We obviously need a ton of quality mids but as we all know they are easier to find and easier to develop. I would say getting the talls sorted first was a strategic move for the reasons stated. We all know that once we have a semi-functioning midfield we will start winning more than we lose.
  5. Yeah definitely keep both Davey and Rodan at least for another year. They may not stay in the best 22 but we need all the experience we can get. And surely we have learnt from our mistakes of the past that forcing ageing players into retirement doesn't necessarily help, and they should be there to guide the young fellas.
  6. This is not a worry, it's a dream. We will be versatile and have strong depth. It's highly unlikely we will have all fully fit and firing every game so they will all get game time. Hogan will probably need to be rested next season, and clark probably as well with his injury history. We will have Watts, Howe and Clark playing has half forwards taking a heap of marks and then kicking it in to both Dawes and Hogan at F/F kicking goals. We should keep Davey on as a small forward and work on teaching Blease to take over as the forward pocket in the future.
  7. WOW I can't believe I just went through that. But I'll take it. It's obvious we have no idea how to win but they will learn.
  8. Isn't the technicality they are trying to use is that it wasn't actually listed as banned at the time? But from what I've read there is also a statement from WADA that if it isn't on the approved list then it is also banned. Which would therefore mean that it is banned and is illegal to use. That's my take on it anyway but I guess we will know soon.
  9. I don't see why GWS won't pick Boyd? It's not like they are overflowing with talls they've only got Cameron and Patton(who seems injury prone). They've also got O'hailpin but he doesn't have long left and they are looking to try get Buddy but really if I was them I would pick up Boyd. They have a plethora of midfielders they must get more KPP's. So if they finish last and take him then at least we won't have the horrible decision of choosing a midfielder over the best available.
  10. I don't think it's as big a deal if you are playing as a key back. He just needs to know his limitations and work with them. He will never be an elite kick though he probably will improve, but he should learn to only take a safe kick unless of course he is under pressure then just boot it.
  11. I noticed this as well and thought it was really good to see.
  12. Can't listen at work, any groundbreaking news?
  13. Yeah that's just people on here adding "facts" to their claims. C'mon people do some research before you type.
  14. How far off number one were you? The closest I've come is around 7000, always wondered what it would be like to be close to winning.
  15. I agree but you can't have different punishments for different levels. That is extreme double standards and would be like if two guys each murdered someone but one was a celebrity and one was jus a normal person and they got a harsher penalty because they weren't a celebrity. I hope the AFL come down hard to show that this is not tolerated no matter who you are. If they don't well then it will be another example of the AFL trying to be a law onto themselves and a corrupt business.
  16. The AFL will be in a very public arena when making those decisions so I think they will have to take that into account. What would be worse for them, the view that a side has cheated or that the AFL is weak when handing out punishments. I know which one of those scenarios I would take if I was Demetriou.
  17. Does anyone know what this means in relation to Trengove? Was he found to have used that substance on his foot or had he been told about it but never actually used it?
  18. Definitely a project player but at least he has a couple outstanding attributes in speed and skill. He just has to work on his tank I'd say and probably isn't a great contested possession winner but then you don't need every player having to do that you need a balance and he will provide that.
  19. I think the way we recruited last year and the way those players are coming on shows we now have a decent recruiting team in place and we can develop talent. BP was obviously totally out of his depth in that role and I'm not quite sure how he got the job in the first place, must've been mates with someone. But I trust now if we do get a PP we will be able to get a good quality kid and develop them the right way and I'm very confident about this. I actually don't care either way if we get one or not as I don't think that one pick will make or break us. I think the only way for us to get better is through hard work from everybody involved at the club. A PP would just be a bonus.
  20. I remember years ago in Abletts first or second season he ducked his head when going for a mark in a final on the big stage. I remember it well as my Dad stated "he will never be as good as his old man he lacks courage'. Well he was very wrong about that and it goes to show one or two mistakes as a youngster has little bearing on how they will turn out. I think he will be a beauty in time.
  21. I think he will stay as will Sylvia. I really hope we can get a decent coach and I think you will find we will improve drastically. Gotta get this years draft right though. I've got faith though after last years I thought we did very well out of that draft and expect something similar this year.
  22. Exactly right. People on here have very short memories. Bailey gifted games to people who weren't ready and didn't earn it and look where that left us. We are slowly coming back to being a 'proper' footy club where when you come in you play in the reserves until you've had good performances and shown you are willing to put your head over the ball. God it would be amazing to just be a proper footy club
  23. I watched Luke Dunstan the other day and I'm sold on him. I realise Aish is meant to be the most talented but Dunstan just looked like he thrives on the contest which is what our side should aspire to.
  24. I agree with this. If he really wants to leave we would be best to trade him for the best possible outcome. In saying that I really hope he stays on board.
