  1. I'm all for playing more games at Casey/boutique stadiums to help improve our profit making from games played. I've said this before we have got to get away from the idea that our 'home' is the MCG and we should play all games there. It isn't viable for us unfortunately even if we were winning we stil wouldn't get enough supporters o these games. If we are trying to build a base in Casey we should go all out and eally entrench ourselves there. I would much rather have to go watch us play at Casey then travel to Tasmania or the NT every second week. Something's gotta give and I think we are going to have to make some sorft of compromise.
  2. Josh Mahoney, Leigh Brown both played in flags as did Byrnes and Dawes. What's the point?
  3. I was thinking this morning about the equalisation debate. So what if the bottom 2 clubs had the opportunity to take a mature age player out of any comp in Australia outside of the normal draft/rookie/pre-season drafts. This would occur before the normal draft and they could take one player from the VFL/WAFL/SANFL etc. This would give them first dibs to the best mature aged players in the country not yet on an AFL list. It would also mean they can keep their current draft picks to continue drafting kids to bolster their sides for the future. It may also be possible to offer this for the bottom 4 and they all choose in order from last to 4th last. Thoughts?
  4. So from what you heard form Neeld and Craig that night what do you think of him as a coach?
  5. Can you fill us in? I'm no basher I like open dsicussion without prejudice
  6. Good to hear some re-infrocement from a past player who I think puts a lot of effort into the club. I am happy to see where Peter Jackson decides this club needs to go and what decisions he makes. I'm interested to find out if he thinks Neeld is a coach on the right track and endorses him will we be happy to follow his decision? Or will everyone be angry about it?
  7. Unfortunately I think we will have to sell 2 NT games a year and also limit our games at the MCG. Having 13,000 turn up there is unsustainable and as much as I love watching our team play at the G I would rather give up games there to still have a team to watch. We should really push to hold games in Casey to increase our profit and also build our brand there.
  8. Most of the board an co. will go. This has very possibly been the worst managed club in the history of the AFL/VFL. Now Fitzroy did go under but they just couldn't continue with their supporter base and debts. We finally got our club out of the s*it and somehow our Administration team pulls us right back down. I want to see a board and administration who aren't just focused on their own personal gains and rather that care about the football club. For too long we've had segmented leadership and backstabbing all for what? These peoples egos have brought this club to its knees and its absolute crap. If I had the experience and know how I would go for it but really I wouldn't know what it takes but surely there are people out their that will know how to properly run a business/football club.
  9. I was thinking something very similar the other day. We seem to have players who don't really fit in anywhere. Watts isn't big enough to be a key forward/back but isn't really fast enough to be a mid. Tapscott is tough but lacks speed and nouse and any idea of how to win possesion. Nicholson has speed and fitness but really doesn't have a football brain. The same could be said about ex players like Morton, he wasn't quite a mid but also wasn't quite a back. Why do we draft these players? It's ok to have some flexibility but really players have to be good in one area. Either they are a ball winning mid, a gut runner to space, a small speedy forward, a big pack busting fwd. So effing frustrating!!!
  10. Yeah but I think you will find GWS had some say in who was traded for what. They were probably holding onto Jed Anderson for something better.
  11. Yeah after watching the footage of her she seemed very upset. I think she should be banned for a year and they should make her spend time with some of the indigenous players from Collingwood. The most important thing out of this is that people become better educated. I doubt she will ever say a racist remark again after being publicly humiliated.
  12. We've just got to go a ready made midfield in the ilk of Wines or Vlastuin. Anything else and this site will crash from being overloaded
  13. Nice. My most hated rule is when a player is done for holding the ball when there is about 10 players laying on top of him holding it in. How the hell is he meant to get it out?
  14. I think there should be more emphasis put on supporter contribution. For exmple everyone hates the clash jersey so why don't they ask some suporters to pitch some ideas then we can all vote on the one we like th most. Instead they just do what they want and everyone hates it. We are all stakeholders if we buy a membership so why can't we have a say.
  15. I was thinking the exact same thing. All this talk of players leaving to play finals what a cop out. If they aren't good enough to help lift a side to a finals series then really they don't deserve a premiership. It happened with Gibson at the Roos as well and I hope they don't win this year just to laugh that he never won one.
  16. I agree with what your saying but I think a player like Mckenzie is valuable for showing the young talented kids what type of work ethic to have at AFL level. I doubt he will be playing for us next time we play finals or even when we start to climb up the ladder as the more talented mids will move past him. But what he can do is drive these younger players to push themselves more. The tigers have held onto a few players who have a lower skill level but are triers i.e. Tuck, Foley, Jackson. They are there to push the young kids and create competitveness and we need that now. So unfortunately Mckenzie is best 22 as of now but I doubt he will be in 2 years time. And I think your being harsh on Evans as I think his skill level is well aove Mckenzie, Nicho and Bail.
  17. And here comes the weekly cycle it's Friday and my optimism is back, the side surely will come out firing we are half a chance. Then comes Monday the sad day where I remember we aren't any good and the firing lasted 5 minutes. Groundhog day every week just coninuing the cycle.
  18. People seem to conveniently forget that Richmond went through a rebuild from around 2002. They haven't played in the finals for 4 or 5 years longer than us and languished near the bottom that whole time. I see comparisons in that we made very similar drafting mistakes as they did. Unfortunately it will take us longer as we stuffed up right before the expansion teams came in so our second crack at drafting was with a diluted draft pool. They still had a lot better picks second time around and got them right with Cotchin and Conca and a few others. So really Richmond have been rebuilding for quite a few more years than us but no one seems to remember this, something with journalists and short memories.
  19. Some of the points you make contradict each other. We probably wouldn't have Clark if Scully stayed as we used the money for him to offer Clark. Also how would keeping Bailey had made a difference? It was well documented he was not coaching at a high level (letting players skip time trials). Essentially we should have got rid of him and Schwab at that time, and probably a few other board members. But that will be happening in the next year or so anyway just a bit late.
  20. Matt Jones has been great, good to see someone with a bit of work ethic running hard for us. I think we should look at getting more mature age recruits out of the comps around Australia. They are perfect picks for later in the draft an we should be looking at more of them along with our youn stars early in the draft.
  21. I always loved Rivers, not so much Moloney. But it was obvious to me this club has had issues and I believe they were a part of it. I will never knock the effort they both put in over their years but something had to change with this club. We needed a fresh start with young players who care more about becoming the best players than just "looking good". It's really tough at the moment obviously but we need to ride it out and watch as the new standards and culture takes form in our club. I don't know if Neeld is a good coach yet and I doubt we will know for another year or so but I do think he knows what needs to be done to create a strong side. Whether he is around to enjoy those foundations I don't know but at the moment I'm happy to wait it out.
  22. What if Roos comes on and there's not a huge change this season and we still flogged. Will we have a time to go Paul Roos thread. I feel like that is where we will get to.
  23. If they want to have clash jumpers they should make it the same for all. For example the Tigers should have to have a white strip with yellow similar to ours. The Pies also should have to have a full white one as well as the Bombers. It should be fair so that every club has one or none do. It's pretty simple really but the AFL never make anything simple.
  24. I don't really get people saying Neeld has the Pies gameplan from 2010 and the Geelong gameplan is what everyone is following. How do we kow that Neeld is using the exact Pies gameplan. Couldn't he be working on his own gameplan based on attacking the footy and defending hard while also transitioning into attack from winning the ball. This also seems to be what Geelong do well anyway. They defend well and they transition into attack very well. They are experts at their gameplan as they have been working on it for a long time. Most AFL teams have similar plans i.e. contested ball, beat your man, move the ball quickly. The better sides just execute their plan and for longer than the poorer teams.
  25. Lets say we HAVE to have a clash strip what would people like it to be? Give some suggestions and maybe we can put it forward to the club because I think most of us hate th current clash strip.
