  1. He currently plays as a 3rd or 4th tall. I think the idea should be to keep him playing and try and draft somone in the future who can take his role a be better at it. Possibly someone like Scharenberg if we get a PP. He would then stay on to help develop that player correctly so they aren't expected to come straight into the senior side. This is what we need to get better at and slowly introduce a system where the young players who come in aren't thrown to the wolves.
  2. I agree with you there. But I was just saying what I think will happen with deals being cut. I guess that's what would of happened with us.
  3. I see this morning that they are more than likely to be kicked out of the finals. I'd say they've decided to play ball now they know they are completely no chance of winning the flag. I'd imagine it would be a different scenario if they were still sitting in the top 4 and a chance at a premiership. They are obviously taking that and trying to keep their picks for the next 2 seasons. I'd say the outcome will be: 1) Stripped of points. 2) Hird banned for at least a season. 3) Stripped of picks for next season (they will probably argue their way out of 2 seasons). 4) Other staff suspended for 6 months i.e. Thompson, Reid etc.
  4. I agree with this. I don't mind paying topline mids big money if they want to come to us, such as Dusty Martin. But we may have to concede to the fact that we aren't the most attractive destination so fringe mids may be our best option to become more competitive next season. As for what I'd pay, if Greenwood wanted to leave for more opportunity I'd say a 3rd rounder would get the job done. No point paying overs for a fringe player.
  5. There was already a thread set up talking about him. I thought he was worth a look if he wants to leave for more game time. Others shot this idea down as they only want the very best midfielders.
  6. I was thinking this the other day actually. We should be trying to get a zone selection priority for the NT as a way to grow our influence in the NT.
  7. With Watts likely to leave they probably wanted to sign him up quickly to bolster our key position stocks for the nest couple of years.
  8. If he shows desperation, hardness at the ball and a will to be the best he can be then I think we should definitely look at him. Too many high draft picks are there on talent alone and people forget the single most important characteristic required, determination. I would rather us draft the most determined players ahead of the most talented.
  9. I'm not much of a Neeld fan but from memory these two left before he got to the club. I might start blaming Neeld for the 2000 grand final loss, and when Jim Stynes ran over the mark as well.
  10. If he wanted to come back to the Dees it would be great, but only with a highly conditional contract. But wow if he could get back to his best form it would be bloody fantastic! I was very sad when he went off the boiler.
  11. His argument is filled with so much bias and is one-eyed. The father-son rule is used by all clubs, Essendon were able to pick up Daniher last year at pick 10 when he was touted as possibly going number one, doesn't mention that. Also as stated in another post Geelong have been blessed with father-son recruits who helped them win a flag, and they were able to take them with some late picks before the new rules were brought in, he doesn't mention this. Then he forgets to mention that Carlton, who actually cheated, were given multiple priority picks after they were punished for their crimes. And he also forgets that other clubs like Richmond also had multiple priority and number one picks just like us. He's a cokchead. I actually don't care if we get one or not as I don't believe it's going to make or break our club. The only thing that will get us back is bloody hard work and bringing in players who want to give their all, not just the most talented (I hope we've worked that one out). But this guy needs to be told what for. Anyone know how to bring these points up with him?
  12. Robinson can find a lot of the ball. He has been used more forward this year but every time he gets thrown in the middle he gets the ball. I agree his disposal isn't the best but it's definetly not the worst. Either way I would'nt give up a lot to get him, maybe a third rounder if he walks.
  13. They probably couldn't offer enough. Both parties have to agree remember. If Watts wanted out and Swallow wanted to come here then that's a pretty fair trade like for like. He's not getting much of a run in their midfield.
  14. I thought I'd give a mention to Dom Barry and his development. Seems to be finding more of the footy and is developing nicely as a wingman. Very exciting for next season!
  15. I concur. Take a pay cut and stay on with a one year contract to provide leadership. Hopefully he is happy to do that and sticks with the club to help guide our younger players.
  16. I'm not saying we have to go and get him, I'm merely pointing out that these are the types of players we may have to go for if we want to bring in more midfield talent to play for us straight away. So if it was Grigg or Houli back when Richmond got them you would have said no to picking them? Some players flourish when given more of a go rather than a role they may not be suited to. And I think Sewell is more than just a bit part player he wins a lot of his own ball and has helped them win a number of games. What I'm also trying to point out is that people who come up with these trades for Fyfe, Sloane, Dangerfield etc. are not being realistic.
  17. And also say things like we should offer Fyfe a big contract. Do people really think these types of players will come to us. The only way out of this mess is clever recruiting. That means taking guys like Greenwood, Miles, Sewell, Cross who are out of favour or fringe at other clubs but would walk into our midfield. The chances of us getting an A grade mid is very slim at the moment.
  18. I like the post about picking up someone like Greenwood. I've watched him play and though he has limitations he is tough and can find the footy. Would add immediate relief to guys like Jones and Viney and wouldn't cost us much, maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder if he says he wants to go.
  19. pretty shocking scores for finals dream teams. A lot of high scoring players failed this weekend Ablett and Jack the main culprits
  20. I can see Kent becoming similar to a Dayne Beams. Once he gets a tank he needs to work on picking up cheap possies as well as winning his own ball and he will kick some long goals on his left.
  21. It's crap that after what Fev and Libba said they were never investigated. It would be oh so sweet if Brock Mclean's side was also investigated what a [censored]!

  23. He's a proven recruiter who put together strong lists at Collingwood, I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing. Building a side cannot be done in one draft it's ridiculous to think that. He knows that if we get pick 1 and don't get an extremely good offer we are best to take him. With our forward stocks he can then be developed properly at Casey and only play if injuries occur. We all know we need mids but it would be amateurish to pass over the best player available. We've had recruiters in the past who selected for needs rather than best available and look where that got us. I'm glad we've finally got a proper recruiter.
  24. I think we should learn from our past mistakes and keep Jamar for the length of his contract. He will be able to offer experience around the club and god knows we need that. He will also be a handy replacement if Gawn or Spencer goes down. We have prematurely got rid of our older players in the past and it's killed us. I would actually prefer he never plays another game as it means Gawn and Spencer are both doing well but the input he can provide for both of their careers could be valuable.
