Elliot easily on talent alone and a really dangerous player creating a new avenue to goals. But Frost as more likely to play every week . A big physical precense, improving, hyper speed, short or tall option. Elliot is an exciting talent and a great get if he stayed on the park . but I can see Him missing as much as he plays. I can’t help but think the only reason he would leave a team like the pies , a big club , smack bang in the premiership window, is if he was worried about his health and trying to make money while he could in this game. I’m presuming Burgess would be involved and if we get him this would be one of his first big calls. For mine, IF it is indeed a choice I’d stay with frost...the devil we know.

Because the hawks are a smart outfit.
  3. Yes he does. I can understand for a young man how hard it can be to give up on the game. Give up on an elite talent you possess and all the dreams that go with that. But I do hope there’s some same heads in the club helping him make that choice. Game over as far as I can see and even then he well might be battling.
  4. Exactly. Kennedy, Dawes and Neeld come to mind.
  5. Sssshhhh...your spoiling all the fun.

After the Hogan episode on this site that statement almost feels like inviting trouble. Cursed words

That’s what the hawks thought about Scully ... and the doggies thought about Boyd. Not.
  8. Talk about yesterday’s hero. Sheesh. He kicks what we thought was the sealer early in the last qtr in the final against the cats last year and was one of our most loved. Jones was never a real A grader but we depended on him heavily in the worst years I’ve ever had as a supporter and one of the truly dark eras of this club. He was no flower but he was a real heart and soul player and one of the very few that was widely respected in and out of the club. Yes he needs to step down or be stepped down from the captaincy.(as I think viney does as well) but he deserves our full respect.

Unless he wants out it’s a definite no. And even if he does I’d try to hold him. Hes one of the only players this year that was consistent and improving.
  10. A little tough SWYL. It’s the only chance they get all year and I’d imagine a big % of players do the same. Plus getting away from the club and football is probably a necessity after the year they had. As long as they’re doing the work while away and come back in shape and sharp who cares?

I’m ok with it personally. Hed be a worthy fill in while weed fills out or if tmac is injured. Depends what he costs of course. He’s obviously not the future A 4 th rounder and the afc to cover some salary and I can’t see the harm in it.
  12. In the cold light of day, I suspect You’re probably right Binman. except that he would have been ridiculed by all and sundry, told he was too stubborn/ stupid to change and risked further alienating a supporter base already baying for blood. He possibly might have risked his position as coach too.
  13. It’s always [censored] me off too. Wilson was at her poisonous worst w us... on behalf of the AFL. Also utterly ignoring the blues the previous year.
  14. It’s true. I’ve been opposed but I’m coming around to it. For the very reason STMJ expressed. This is a v critical off season for us. We need to generate hope fr the supporters and really meet the issues w our list. We can’t trade viney as he’s captain... but that would have been my preference. Brayshaw is a gun and mainly I’ve loved him but we just have an excess of his type and someone has got to go. Adding hill and Langdon would bring a lot of excitement and address our flaws.
  15. The sad , unpalatable truth for us dees is that we’re an easy club to hit. The skinny kid w glasses in the school playground. I long fr the day, and I may never see it, we’re up there punching w the big boys . A club to be feared and respected.
  16. I did wonder about that at the time. My zero knowledge hunch is that Jordie may have called out Jack on some things. The same kind of things that are being called out here. Anyway ...perhaps when theres sunnier skies over this club again and we've fnished top 3 and locked in the double chance you might share.
  17. It has really been unbelievable this year hasnt it. I cant remember a game this year I wasnt shocked by this. Which is why I wondered about something deeper happening that you seem to allude to. Players dont suddenly forget how to kick 20 metre passes under little pressure...or kick accurately for goal. In the last few weeks, Melksham 3.5 and Fritsch 1.4. those two are perhaps our best kicks! It made me wonder is everything had just gotten v negative down there and the fear of making a mistake was creating undue tension.
  18. that does not sound good patches. Clearly something was way off. Without revealing any details is this , in your opinion, something that can be repaired under Goodwin ? and/ or with Viney as Captain? Whenever clubs are losing like we were morale is always off but I knew this went deeper.
  19. Yep same same. Ive watched about 30 times I reckon and never get sick of it. Frosty has pace, x factor and grunt. Also he is def getting better at doing the relaible basics a bit better. Certainly in our best 22 imo. Id pick him ahead of Hibbard , Omac and lever atm and he was better value than Lever at the end of the season. Happy with this news!

Have really enjoyed your posts drunkn and the glimpses into the human side of it all. Was hoping dec would make it...he gave it his all. All the best to both of you. Hope to see you posting here again!
  22. "Young has a similar style to that of Melbourne's Christian Salem; as a similarly reliable user from defence" Salem has become a specialist at 20 metre passes somewhere in the back pocket/ flank area that gives us a mark and slows down the play. He may be reliable but second half of the season I saw him as protecting his stats and part of the problem. I think we really do need something more creative than that. So, Im Hoping if its young we go for then he has a bit more vision and flair in his ball use than Salem.
  23. Agreed.....And Paines use of the referral system has been frikn terrible.
  24. .....yes, um.. about Australian cricket. I swear to god last night made me feel like I was watching the dees. Lacking leadership and making simple errors when it counted. -Sporting disappointments are running and cutting deep this year.
  25. half way through the last we were kicking at 36%. 36%!!!!!! Lever had about 3 in a row. You Cant win if you cant frikn kick. Preuss missing from 10 and ANB missing from 30 in the last and 1.7 in the last also.... just about sums the whole thing up. That being said....fritsch is beginning to really look the goods. Something to be hopeful for.
