  1. Barring Lovett which was well I have no words for that one, the others all came cheap Dawson and Gardiner were vital players in 2009 when the Saints went so close against a very very good side, Peake's form this year has been very good and was one of the reasons they went on such a good run mid season, Bartram could be similar. Polo and Gamble haven't seen enough of them. I think the Saints list was better under Thomas and lacked depth under Lyon. I may be biaised but I think when the bodies get bigger we are ahead of the list he had at the Saints minus a Goddard who I don't think we have anywhere on our list. I think Lyon would make our defence formidable
  2. I know the Great Man left us in 1965 after wearing the jumper with distinction as did his late father. However RDB'S departure was done with honour and not smoke and mirrors. I have had the pleasure of meeting with the great man and speaking with him about the club. to hear him speak of his love for the club is inspiring. I would ask Barass to speak with the player group early in the pre season about the importance of the club and the red & blue jumper, what it means to us as supporters and past players. Let him look the player group in the eye and ask them who wants to wear it with honour and represent this great club.
  3. Agree with all of this except for beginning of pre-season. Wheels put in motion as soon as Scully advised the club of his decision.
  4. As I said previously this is a line in the sand time for the club Lets not have any gloating from either side of our supporters as to who was right and who was wrong We are Melbourne, we are all in this together Tom Who? Felt gutted this morning but over it now guess I prepared for it over the weekend. If you r not commited to the club then really we are better off. What doesn't kill you make you stronger Close the thread and move on
  5. Well it's here at last after months of posts and threads. I'm going to turn the computer off now and head off to bed. I expect I will wake tomorrow and as I am cycling in to work this sorry saga will all be over, through the headphones I will hear the news that Scully has made his decision or along those lines of a press conference being announced by GWS/MFC. I'm expecting bad news (my view has changed in the last 5 weeks) and I wont hold my breath expecing the AFL to compensate us appropriatley. But F##k crying about it I'm firmly of the veiw of this being a moment we say never again can we allow something like this happen to us. Time to move on once the decision is made, get the new coach in and start working towards being a side that makes us all proud and fills us with hope. I'm pretty confident 2011 is all part of a kick in the guts to remind everyone at the club yes debts are cleared, talent is on our list, we have great facilities at AAMI Park but the work to take this club where we believe we can be is far from done. "I dont respect your talent, I respect what you do with your talent"
  6. Forget Ablett that was a refereance they gave to your power club quote, but along a clubs number 1 Pick line in 2 years we don't have to look 2 far, think Jeff WHITE
  7. Good to see things are changing. Hawks moved in quickly after 96 and look at them now. I'm hoping Casey/Cranbourne is to us what Waverley & Tassie has been to them , although we have greater scope at Casey. 2011 could be the year where we realised the job was no wear near done, here's hoping Go Dees!
  8. Just put a post on every thread "That Scully is gone", we get the message you have been portraying it for months, FFS how many different ways must you try and convey the same message
  9. IMO it only confirms a belief I have that the club is (albeit slowly) turning the corner and we are left with the remnants of a list that had run its race under Cameron & Danniher. Good times ahead like every one else I hope they come soon. PS Cameron's Backline is good though but under he and Danners we lacked hardness which is showing now and the kids have this but will take a few years to grow and really show it
  10. Are we children here STFU and just chill until the decision is made either way, neither of you are dealing with facts. The facts are between Scully his management the two clubs and his management. Wolfmothers facts are of a conversation he had with him, I don't know WM or his relationship with Tom beyond being his sponsor so can't comment on how open or guarded Tom would be in conversation with WM. I hop from thinking every day on what his decision will be. I deal with facts every day in my job and analysing them and it is a difficult thing to do so can we just await the decision and maybe discuss MFC with Tom in 2012 or what we target in return for compensation picks
  11. I am gutted as everyone else here that we haven't jumped forward as quick as some expected, but lets not kid ourselves that we are as bad off as we were in 2007. All your doing is increasing the clouds of doom hanging over the club. Dannihers lack of turning over the list and Craig Camerons recruiting options, left our list in dire need of a rebuild which started under Dean and the young guys got exposed with greater responsibility this season. The benefits of which will be evident in the seasons to come. Our young guys are just like the Eagles kids in fact I think they are better, they mirrored us from 08-10 and have jumped up this year. We don't have Cox, Kennedy, Kerr & Glass. If we had those older bigger bodies things would be different but we have the list we have and will move forward with our without Scully as the case appears to be.
  12. Whinge Whinge! We cleared massive debt Improved Facilities Record membership Record sponsorship Can now afford to spend on a decent coach and support staff thanks to reducing debt and gaining big sponsorship Re-signed Trengove, Sylvia and others But lets not talk about the positives
  13. Good post a lot of the good work by the club recently gets lost in the Scully negativity
  14. BS Gaff only signed for 2 years as did Darling, Darling just signed an extension to his contract last week
  15. Gold time to close the thread with this parting post
  16. Also posted this on Rhys Palmer thread, once again nothing concrete just more of the same media hyp without anyone naming or inferring to any reliable source. Brad Hardie & Karl Langdon interviewed Palmers Manager (Colin Young) this evening as Rhys could not talk after mad monday. They asked him about Rhys flying over tomorrow to be paraded on Thursday as new GWS signing. He said yes he was and they asked further would Tom Scully and Chad Cornes be there. Young did not answer at all in regard to Scully, just said I would be very surprised if Cornes is there. He elaborated further that since Silvagni took over his role he has targeted young players (as is well known) aged under 24 and Ruckmen aged between 24 to 26 years. After the interview Brad Hardie was adamant Scully was signed and he was delaying it as it was just part of saving face and his reputation to go along with the ruse of Scully not reviewing any contracts until season was over. More fuel to the fire and nothing concrete from Langdon asking Hardie further about why Scully had not come out since making this decision, Hardie just rehashed everything we have all read in the media. Until last week I was firmly in the I think he will stay camp but really unsure now, but I wont lose any sleep the club goes on either way.

  18. Karl Langdon does the Sports today in Perth with Brad Hardie on 6PR(3AW sister station) and he has made remarks in the last couple of months that Palmer would be at GWS or maybe even Melbourne next year, didn't think anything of it but he has used the throw away line a couple of times about Palmer should move as he can't get a regular game. Don't see anything in it his disposal is terrible, but he is hard, honest and will run all day. He should come cheap but he is just another Bartram in my opinion, although in the year he won the Rising Star he was very good at clearances.
  19. and you can add to that Hagdorn knows SFA about WA clubs or Footy in general.
  20. + 1 The day I don't renew 1 of two things have happened 1) I have died 2) The MFC has died and hopefully when I pass my sons will continue buying membership for me in honour
  21. GOG is right Robbie you need to take a breath, look I am as disapointed as we all are but the kids have had to take a fair amount of responsibility this year and we will see the benefits of that in the coming years. Your comparing us with North who never bottom out North will never be anything other than honest they will always be around the mark because they will only ever be average. Take Petrie out of heir side and throw him in our forward line this season and you would see a big difference straight away. If you can't see improvement in a lot of our younger guys this year than I do not know what you have been watching. The injury curse we copped around the time of the Adelaide win has had a big affect on our side. Jones has stepped up as a leader and Maloney but unfortunatley Green just seems a shadow of the player he was 12 months ago, I am willing to cut him slack as he has points in the bank. I have said in many posts this year the tide is turning the young guys are starting to take on a leadership roll but they are still only kids give them another season or two and then you will see a decent side for many years to come. Unlike North who will never be anything other than a team being 6-12th
  22. I am with you here, and he doesn't have the financial backing of Collingwoods footy department!
  23. I appreciate he made this comment, but I believe it was before he was offered a 5 year big money deal, which may sway him some what. I know he will be a long shot but the Saints would not offer him a deal that will match ours.
  24. Have to get Ross LYON best game day coach going around IMO
