  1. Well lets hope we are both proved wrong and Wonna comes back pre season trim and full of desire, plays to his potential and becomes a key crumbing forward in a regular Top 4 contender and hopefully greater things
  2. Rhino forget what you may have read on Wickepedia or in the press the incident you are referring to was the final straw in a long list of off field transgressions, incidents and problems he was having, most of which were kept from the media. After this incident WCE and Sampi sought treatment for a condition he actually had no control over. It was a cry for help. To my knowledge he is the better for the help he has received
  3. I agree with you on this, I never said we should keep him on the list, I beleive for his personal and injury matters he has not been able to get back onto the park, but on each occassion he has returned out of condition. I would de list him and tell him if he proves he wants it. If he is committed we will see how he comes back pre season as proof and see how he trains over the pre season before offering him a final spot on the rookie list
  4. Not unfair analogy in my opinion depending upon what way you perceive it, let me put it this way both very talented forwards who can turn a game. both had bad run with injuries both had to deal with situations off the field which they had no control over both talk about wanting to play AFL Finals -SAMPI was on the ground in 2006 shared the moment with the Eagles and said this only made him more determined to comeback and share in future success. Wonna said 2 weeks ago he wanted to comeback and play well for Casey and try and break into the Dees side should they make finals. What my inference with committment was it is all very well saying something and what you wish to happen but there is a big committment required to make these things happen. Other matters may prevent you realising your potential, not having gone through what either of these two have had to endure nor wishing to I don't fully understand their mindset, but if you are committed why turn up to training pre season so badly out of condition and overweight that you are behind the 8ball. So in closing I will say Sampi's talents have been lost to the game without him reaching the obvious potential he had and I believe Wonna may suffer the same fate.
  5. As per the Judd scenario clubs will trade stars if they want to leave, the problem is what are you prepared to give
  6. Unfortunatley it looks to be another Ashley Sampi story all over again. As horrible as it sounds you can have all the tools and ability but committment and a cruel run with injuries (and other matters in Aussies case) can just be to much in the end
  7. and Vossy was Captain in 1998 when they collected the spoon. Change takes time should they have sacked him after his first season
  8. And the players unanimously voted Green in this year, the Geelong debacle was not Greeny's fault everyone in the playing group is responsible for that result. It's nothing to do with embarasment its to do with him having the support of the players. If he has the support of the players and gets the boot because the supporters call for it, then that will be great for cohesion between footy department and player group. Lyon will consider this as it is part of his review. New coach will pick a captain along with players vote and Greeny needs to be considered along with all others mentioned.
  9. Sydney under Roos and Lyon played honest accountable footy brought back the "Bloods" and showed immense pride in the club and jumper. Saints do all of the above I would love to see players wearing red and blue playing hard accountable footy every week. It would make a change going to a game knowing we were going to throw everything at it instead of wondering which Melbourne were going to turn up today. I think he would be a good get but also remember him copping some criticism from Saints fans at the start of 2007 when they were out of contention for the finals. So the knockers may start saying told you so early days. From memory once they started learning the game plan they came home with a wet sail and just missed the finals that year and after. From 2008 onwards am I correct in recalling they played in a prelim every year. Off course we all know they got very close in 2009 & 2010. In all honesty I wont be disapointed if Ross Lyon is our coach next year
  10. Perception is the players were unhappy with Junior being off loaded last season, Green is not alone in having a bad season and he has been a good servant to the club. If he has the support of the playing group I would keep him as captain, the fall out of changing this without majority player group support is to much to comprehend. I would be more in favour of keeping Green as captain and bringing in fresh faces as vice captains with a succesion plan in mind, namely Trengove, Frawley and Grimes.
  11. I a discussion with a group of people and Ben Allan who also suffered Chronic knee problems was also involved and it was during the discussion the professionalism of Mcleod looking after his body and knees to get on the park came up. Also did a quick google and found this http://m.afl.com.au/news.htm?action=handleNewsArticleById&id=119303&listRetrievedBy=COMPETITION&listId=1
  12. To compare with the two other cases of this knee problem Adam Cooney - great when he is up and running is not fanatical about going to the endth degree to look after his body and make sure he gets on to the park every week Andrew Mcleod - had a similar degenerative problem with his knees for many years and took the neccassary steps to make sure he could be the best he could. I see Scully being similar to Mcleod to the way he looks after his body
  13. Yep don't mind if he's an in as well. others had mentioned him, I put it one of the threads last week about positives for the future and Jetta is one, he is not big but he is hard and harrasses.
  14. Get over it, and don't kid yourself they are not that bad. West Coast lost to them by 10 goals last year and were also the turnover kings of 2010, the right coach and fresh FD ideas and things can turn around very quickly
  15. Take a leaf out of WCE 2010 anyone carrying injuries -out send them for Operations, rest whatever is required. Get back to preseason ready to go and any chance we could attack preseason comp for the frst time since 98 with a bit of momentum which we can carry into the season. Scully your season is over no point playing hurt so go look at the offers and let us know your decision in 2 weeks. Some good reports on Mcdonald at Casey maybe have a look at him and few others over the preseason
  16. + 1 Sylvia get a good preseason into you and do this regularly Cale Morton needs to play the last 2 games, if a good trade is offered we can take it if not it's not the end of the world a few years ago he was one of our best kids Frawley has beaten Reiwoldt on most occassions, to strong and quick for him, Carey was the best I ever seen but Jakovich always had the better of him, I hope this rivalry goes the same not by any stretch putting Reiwoldt into the Carey level Bartram nullified 2 quality players in a row now, Thats what he is there for not to kick goals yes that is a fault but see where he is at next week put him on Ablett 11 under 50 gamers who on the majority are stepping up Changing of the guard, we are heading closer to the 22-28 regulars who will take us to regular finals and Top 4
  17. So we've just sacked a coach who's game plan was flawed and 4 years past it's use buy date. We are way behind the 8ball on our structure and changes have been made but you can't turn it around in 5 weeks. It's not about settling for mediocrity,we have to see if some of these kids form at Casey translates to AFL and who can move forward to where we want to be. I don't think it was a lack of desire to chase I think it was a lack of having the tank to do it, had it been early on that would be a different story. Blease was good today showed he can make it at this level. As others on the thread have said, needs a good preseason and a good base, but I now believe I can see why he was regarded so highly by some recruiters
  18. Demonland all over look for the negative, f#%k me you wouldn't want to be suicidal and read this site. Has been one of the positives in the last 3 weeks, todays game was frenetic pace the quality wasn't up to the top sides but effort was there from both sides. Blease wasn't alone struggling to run out the game from both sides. I don't think he was jogging because he couldn't be arsed, I believe he honestly had nothing left. Do you recall Boomer Harvey outrunning a crows youngster last year in the 4th. Couple of pre seasons into these kids and they will run out games better
  19. As I said Richmond are at where we are at, we have talent but no size, they are hard and agressive two different styles of sides. Viney is trying to adress the problems from the previous structure but it takes time and can not be turned around so quickly. As I said previously we are still a couple of years away can you just go to the game without thinking it's Richmond so we should win. Jurrah & Sylvia have been running hard and showing a bit after being sent back to the magoos, Viney said on ABC today being captain doesn't guarentee you a start Brad is on the benc because his preparation for this week didn't warrant starting. From where I see it today we are showing endeavour and effort, which if anything is a step up. All I ask is for supporters to stop turning on the boys, the overall change will take time and a few more seasons.
  20. Richmond are at where we are at both sides are having a crack, but Muppet thanks for that did your mum and dad sign a permission slip fo you to go overseas
  21. Hope its a one way ticket I can't stand listening to this shite anymore from supporters like you who think we are a couple of years ahead of where we are
  22. Yep Greeny is the sub Viney is just talking on ABC now and his words were that Brad's preparation for the game did not warrant him starting, as he missed last week with back spasm's. I like the way Viney speaks and my perception is there are no walk ups in this side you all play a role to achieve the desired result. I am quite sure a few of our older players have been or will be told a few home truths in recent times. Viney is talking about taking pressure of the backs and kicking more than trying to handball from defence. Also calling for more wins in the clearances. Viney talks it the way he played and from the way he is talking he may still put his hand up for the role, he is not 100% against it. Viney is talking all about the benefit for the club whatever we do people like Todd need to be kept at the club.
