  1. in regard to your midfield Viney and trengove, gysberts 2013 + excite me have the makings of good midfield. Bail & Barts (yes Barts) will be quality run with players, Jones and Beamer are absolute in and under but cant use the ball like the greats. I honestly think once our boys develop and if we get an A grade outsider Jones and Beamr will become Mike Sheehann Top 50'S as there main strengths will be noticed and their weaknesses's will be less scrutinised. We are on he upward slope fans just need to be patient
  2. I saw Judd play his first game in the WAFL and from the first clearance you knew he was something special, just took the game on and had the excelaration and arrogance to do as he pleased. As Tony Micale said to Judd's East Perth players and supporters after the game say goodbye to this kid because you wont be seeing him here again. Have not seen much of O'Meara, he has had bad OP, but have spoken to recruiters and development coaches in WA and while he has big wraps have not heard of him being Judd like. The scout who is talking him up so highly may be from GWS pushing up his trade value. One WA development coach I have spoken to still put David Swallow as the best player he seen in the last 5 years from WA at the age of 16 Right now he is being talked up as No 1 pick if he was in 2012 draft but so was Darling many years ago, another kid like a Trengove and Martin will push up next year and like these two may leave their run late. All I am saying is we really need to do our homework on him before we commit the cards we possess!
  3. Sounds good if we can arrange a trade and get one of the top 17 year olds, it will virtually give us 2 first rounders in the 2012 draft as we already have secured Jack Viney
  4. Not certain but I would guess, journo's knowing O'Meara is sought after and looking at the Draft Order as to who has first pick after GWS. We all know they work of assumptions and putting 2 and 2 together to get 5!
  5. Matt White - if he came cheap would not mind Goddard - goes without saying would love to have him, but what are you prepared to give Masten - Crab, if you think Bartrams disposal is bad think again, Masten is a great athlete holds junior records at 400 & 800m in WA. Having said that in the last month of 2011 he played a role within Eagles structure but don't rate him at all. If West Coast had taken Morton with pick 3 in 07, we would not have taken Masten. It was well known the Eagles were going to take him with pick 3. Carlton were locked in for Kruezar with pick 1 and Tigers weretossing up between Morton & Cotchin I prayed at the time for them to take Morton but as we know they didn't. Lake - not what we need, selfish, unsettles the player group and not as good as Chip!
  6. I like what I see in Grigg but don't think he will be available, Toby Greene & Liam Sumner could be available at 12 so would not be sad to see one of them taken. I heard a lot earlier about Todd Elton but do we need another young tall.
  7. As we all know there are players who are not touted in pre draft articles but absolutley prove the pundits wrong in the seasons after. There will still be some good kids when we get our pick and it depends on what other clubs are looking for, I think it's safe to say the Power & Crows (if they trade Maric) will target Ruckman so with Billy Longer the Top rated draft player that will change the draft order. We ave plenty of young kids as it is and the compensation picks we picked up for Judas will turn out to be very valuable commodities!
  8. Eagles wont catch sides unaware next year, don't see Embley, Lynch & Nicoski playing like that again next season Glass, Kerr & Cox aging bodies. Hawks for me but a lot can and will happen by this time next year. One team suprises every year and one team usually falls away dramatically. Pies still have quality cattle and yesterday will hurt and burn within, but my focus for 2012 will be the Dees, new coach another pre season into our kids and who will be the Stefan Martin who surprises us all and steps up next year
  9. This is good get for the club, at last we have become serious and matching the Football Departments of the bigger clubs. Not expeting a switch to be turned on and change to happen immediatley but I think as is the case now we are heading in the right direction. 2012 will seperate the men from the boys and anything else will be a bonus but 2013 onwards is where the MFC announces its arrival and starts getting serious
  10. Dont get me wrong both together would be good but I would not break the bank for Dawes, he would be a good aquisition but I would much rather spend that type of coin on a quality midfielder
  11. Living in WA I only get to see some VFL highlights or stuff on the net. Whilst his game against Port was Rabbit in the headlights stuff I would not judge him on that. From the glimpses I have seen he is light but that will change in another year or two. I have also seen some god signs in him attacking the contest which he even did a couple of times against Port just wasn't really up with the tempo, which will come. So my way of thinking is he cost's very little and has a lot of upside. In 18 -24 months or seasons 2013 and beyond we will have a 200cm, 100kg Forward who will be able to attack and break packs we will be paying around $175-200k per season. I do not see us pushing any where near the Top 4 until this stage but if we were to draft Dawes or someone similar they would be doing much the same for around $5-600k perseason
  12. Green is every bit as good or if not better than Embley. Embley pplayed as a front running outsider this season after spending 3 years as a hack in the midfield. If you look back over the last 10 years Green is streets ahead of him and I would also say Greens 2010 is far better than Embleys 2011. Whilst comparing him to Cox, Glass 7 Cox is like comparing apples and pears
  13. Small crumbing forward Alroy Gilligan, young indigenous boy from Fitzroy Crossing was very impressive for Claremont's league side today in their win very clean with hands and feet made good decisions and unlike many of the indigenous forwards played the percentages to teamates in better positions rather than trying to kick GOY from every opportunity , a young boy 19/20yrs Tom Lee played well down back before going forward late 194cm and versatile, Kane Mitchell older midfielder was good again and should have won BOG, while fo Subiaco Kyle Horsley and David Bristow were both good through the middle in an othewise bad day for Subi
  14. Love the man and what he has done for this club, he will never give in!
  15. So if your a lawyer and in Perth we may have crossed paths!
  16. WYL you like me have unfortunatley never seen the holy grail but hopefully (I believe) the day is coming. Not sure you were alive when we won one didn't say what age you were in 1971 all I can tell you about 71 is that summer I went to the Kilkenny Beer Festival in my dad and came home in my mum. So no Premiership in my lifetime but feeling good about all the changes since 2008 and 2011 was just a bump in the road
  17. We are not in the premiership window, lets be honest and good times are ahead this team will click somthing similar to the way we did towards the end of the 1987 season, problem is we just don't know when that will be. There will be players out there who Neelds has identified as plugging holes in our list, we may have them holes filled by our young KPPS in a year or two but we may need to draft/trade for a temporary fix till they come through. There is no harm in doing this once you don't do a Carlton and trade pick 11 for a Mclean, I'm thinking more along the lines of picking up honest players who you know what your going to get from them every week. Not talking about picking up these players but ones who along these lines are not stars but play the percentages and do their job within the team structure, a Leigh Brown, Ted Richards, Firrito, Dom Cassissi, Jordan Lewis, Dale Morris and Beau Watters. I am sure there are some guys on AFL lists not getting look ins who could give us the hardness we need
  18. Sumich is another Damien Drum under no circumstances should we let him anywhere near our club Forwards- John Barker or Leigh Brown Defenders - Max Hudgton, Adam Simpson or Brady Rawlings
  19. Absolutley no way, Sumich is an absolute dud, might have been able to play the game but in regards to knowledge and tactics the guy has NFI he was laughable at South Fremantle as coach in 98/99 had access to Freo's AFL listed players along with probably the best WAFL list and was outcoached on numerous occassions, got the 99 side to GF where they were raging favourites and got shown up for the dud he is on the day
  20. Old dee I may be wrong here but I believe what they are saying is along the lines which I am thinking. I dont think Long term drafting of Cook was an error Darling is as big as he is going to get and he is also as good as he is going to get. There is a lot of tall timber in that Eagles forward line so naturally he has been well assisted. I have seen him play for a number of years so believe I can judge him farily accuratley. 6 Clubs who overlooked Rhys Palmer in the 2007 draft were slated but look at them now If Cook does not surpass Darling then I will tilt my hat to you I am just glad we draft with foresight not for the now
  21. With less than a month left before the trade period which incorporates the mini draft for 17 year olds, it's worth looking at the prime candidates among this young group. There are two of them and the main one is 182cm 75 kg Jaegar O'Meara from Perth who starred in last year's WAFL Grand Final booting four goals for WAFL club, Swan Districts Hate to be podantic but it was Stephen Coniglio who kicked the 4 goals for Swan Districts in that Final and he is in this years draft and will go in top 3 to GWS, he was interviewed on ABC on the weekend and has already had the tour of Breakfast Point. I think we may head down the Hawthorn line which Pelchen did of recruiting hard players, O'Meara comes with good wraps but well known in WA he not keen to head east so may be a big go home factor for him. If Crouch is what they say he is it may be better targetting him although I would not rule out sorting the O'Meara trade out and swapping it with WCE for Gaff!
  22. Seen him play for East Perth this year a couple of times and he has played well, but WAFL players who I have seen who have really stood out for mine, Luke Blackwell (Ex Blues), Mark Hutchins (Ex Saints), Kyle Horsley, Kane Mitchell and there are some other boys like Ian Richardson, Ross Young & Jason Salecic who have stood up for years in the league and have bigger bodies for the middle but time has probably passed them by.
  23. Jesse White would be like Dawes if he was in the Collingwood forward line playing alongside Cloke and getting the service off that midfield. My point being White will offer the same and will cost less in trade and less in salary. Would not break the bank for either of them but White could be a good fix while we wait for our young KPP'S to develop
