  1. Dempster is the one who would interest me, wouldnt be on big coin and does the team thing plays his role and the perentages I think Lyon at Freo may look at him. In all honesty though who the Pies delist/move on like Mcaffer & Mcartney may hold more upside
  2. Couldn't do it to many what if's, opposition, at the G, interstate, Etihad. But I think that may be a good thing I think reputation alone wont get you a game with us next season and Neeld and other coaches will pick teams to beat the opposition not just who are are best 22 players. I don't think Bartram is amongst our best 22 players but showed late last season he may be our best tagger, although if you want someone to Tag a player who runs all day Bail is your man. If Dunn could get back to his 2010 form of being a shutdown player in attack I see Neeld playing him against the likes of Hodge who likes to control the game from Half back flank. No matter what team people come up with there will be a player on our list we don't have in our best 22 who steps forward when given the opportunity like Martin did this year. At least with spots up for grabs hopefully the competition will make all perform and earn their spots
  3. Jetta - this kid is naturally hard at it also provides tackling pressure, which along with Petterd and Howe providing same helps us implement the press and defensive pressure in the forward zone once Clark, Watts and rotating Jamar bring the ball to gron Bennell is also an option the kid needs to realise the talent he has
  4. If he wants # 1 give it to him but my first thought like others here was # 31, make the statement you are forgotten and replaced pretty quickly plenty of supporters going around with that number on their jumpers. For what he has done for the club # 11 to me is sacred and we either do a Port # 1, Tiges # 17 thing and give it to our captain or give it to the winner of our clubman award for the previous season
  5. I agree I meant to say Bail is an absolute running machine
  6. Lets just get rid of the blow out defeats and be a side that is hard to beat every week. Continued improvement in the kids A structure in place along with Plans A, B & C Platform for 2013 not to just fall into the 8 but make Top 6 to win 1 final and then genuine contenders after that for several years
  7. What if Misson can do some work on Tappy's endurance and get him to play the Role Caddy does, we know he has the hardness just ran out of tank as he got tired in his first full season. Nothing against Caddy just haven't seen much of him, PS against any suggestion trading Bail out the likes of him, Tappy, Garland and Howe are your lesser like players who turn good sides into Premiership contenders. Saints have stars but after that they fall away dramatically and IMO that is where they fell short
  8. Without being critical, no. his body is just about done, quality footballer but finished last season like he was treading on egg shells If I was targetting a Lion midfielder it would be Rockliff but he wont come cheap -Ball Magnet
  9. Think along the lines of West Coast, Natainui, Cox & Lynch. Howe becomes our Jack Darling while Watts & LJ get the 2nd and 3rd Tall defenders
  10. + 1 as I said in the Denham post the fact we dont leak info anymore and how quiet the whole Clark thing was kept from day 1 shows how professional we have become, can't wait to hear Hagdorn tomorrow morning on 6PR
  11. Given the news that has just come out of the blue about us signing Mitch Clark the fact this club does not leak secrets anymore shows how professional we are. As Bob Dillon says the times they are a changing!
  12. If true good to see we havent thrown in the towel or what are we chasing from Freo Pick 16 & a player or pick 16 & 20 giving us either 3 picks in first 32 or something to on trade for someone else in mind
  13. RF I wasn't around 47 years ago but from what I hear through the 50's & early 60's us the Pies & Bombers were the big clubs. Whilst I don't ever see us breaking back into the Top 4 with Pies, Bombers, Blues & Hawks in terms of supporters I'm happy with where we are headed. 15 years ago us & the Hawks were at the same level they just got their act together quicker than we did. Whilst we are starting from way back the debt demolition shows how passionate our club is, the Casey move IMO will attract young supporters from the area and the team will become succesful enough to attract prime time spots. The Denhams, Andy Mahers, Brian Taylors & Dunstalls of this world will be eating their words when this club starts getting on field success. Supporters of this club need to realise there is no switch to flick or magic formula. Hard work is what cleared the debt and what will get us to where we are going. 2 years ago we could not have dreamed of putting together a football department like we have now. So F#%K Denham and the rest all I care about is the club and as a supporter I'm happy with the direction, getting the club secure off the field was the most important thing to do, it's the reason the Hawks under Dicker, Cats under Costa & Pies under fatboy have excelled. It is also the reason why North & Saints failed to benefit when they had top quality teams but off field they weren't top notch! and finally we will be a very good side and a hard side like the Cats and Pies Frawley, McKenzie, Trengove, Jetta, Tapscott, Jones, & Bail are hard honest boys, Gysberts, Grimes, Watts, Jurrah & Sylvia all have that little touch of class. There are others on our list who show promise and desire not to mention Viney jnr and others we will pick up or who are developing at Casey. Once the bodies get bigger and once we have all the pieces of the jigsaw in place as I have said before, I'm pretty confident some time in the next year or two this team will click like 87 and when it does jump aboard for the ride. Go Dees!
  14. and even if we don't get clark Freo now will have to use pick 16 & 20. They have already given up the compensation pick gievn to them which I am sure they intented to use next year. Not sure who it was or in which thread but a demonland posted did say when dealing with trades and picks it is not always about the now
  15. Seemed to work at West Coast pretty well this year with Cox, Natainui & Lynch and also took a lot of pressure of third tall Darling in the foward line. Could do the same for Howe or Watts and I really think if Jurrah was playing as 3rd or 4th tall a lot of teams would struggle to match up on him!
  16. I heard Colin Young (O'mearas manager) being interviewed tonight about Jaegar being picked up by Gold Coast, the kid has hit heart set on becoming a Docker but realised on Monday night it probably wasn't going to happen. There was some further discussion that had Port finished last they may have been able to get a try for him and something may have been able to be done with West Coast & Ebert. After saying all that Young said but now Jaegar is happy going to Gold Coast and getting into the AFL. Afte hearing this and having already been burnt by 1 Top Pick I am actually glad we didn't give away everything to get him, there will be money thrown at him by both WA clubs to come home if he proves to be as good as they say
  17. FFS if Adelaide get the pick they get it, we still hold the other picks. It is not a done deal yet this time yesterday the four way club deal was a supposed done deal. Sillvagni says it's almost done (maybe in hope Dees or soemone else will come back with better deal tomorrow). Grubby Allen is crafty and a master of gaetting clubs to pay overs or to eliminate each other. MFC don't pay overs the cards will start to fall now once mini draft picks are sorted. A lot has been on hold in the trade week over the first couple of days as usual, clubs feeling each other out. Hawks will now try and get an early pick from somewhere and have to give something to get it. As usual the last day or two of the trade period is hectic and trades come from nowhere.
  18. Still doesn't make sense the way I read it, I would say today stalled more to the point no one knows if it is actually able to be done or not. At the end of the day looks like GWS are the main winners. Early games being played in trade week as usual
  19. If it's true take it, as they say the draft is thin this year so pick 6 would be very useful. Keeps us with other cards up the sleeve to chase 17 year olds
  20. Greene will still be there at 12 recruiters still get blinded by combine results and he didn't go that well but no matter what they do they can't test you for footy smarts or how you react in the pressure cooker!
  21. Yeah nothing much will happen from anyclub all talk but nobody will be prepared to take much risk with compromised draft!
  22. Tapscott has huge upside he will never be an out & out star becuase he will just do the basics right and nothing outstanding. He is our Beau Waters and every good team has to have 1. Vital part of our jigsaw I'm all for getting Dangerfield as the outsider we need but don't want to lose Tappy n the process, Bater, Dunn & Davey I don't see in our best 22 2013 and beyond so if one of them has to go in the deal to get Dangermouse so be it! Although Adelaide wont be bitten twice after picking up Tambling n trade week 2010!
  23. I'll jump i here and back up my fellow ranga's(well i'm as close to red as you can get) Bate and Lingy. We might not have talent but generally as a race we are hard. But seriously depth from 2013 will be our strength it's all very good trading for stars but what will get this club over the line I don't know if I knew that I would be a rich man just offering my 2 cents as an avid supporter. I have know doubt we have the talent and good kids at hand I believe from here on in Prendergast and Neeld etc putting the final pieces into the jigsaw is where it gets really difficult and where you earn your quids. Plenty of good sides over the last 20 years have been moulded but getting that extra to get you over the line is where it gets difficult.
  24. As much as it might fly in the face of other posters we are even in development. Our defence is way above theirs however their forward line is ahead of ours but then again offence gets you memberships, defence gets you premierships I will back us against them over the long haul. But exciting times and rivalry ahead for both clubs, but in their defence Cotchin will be an absolute gun don't see much ATM splitting Trengove & Martin huge upside both ways
