I think Cameron & Paton will both be great forwards and a lethal combination, and I know we can all say no one thought we would get Micth Clark but either of these two are a different kettle of fish. They are both going to be the main chance of GWS being succesful and given that's it's the fat controllers baby he will not allow them to move no matter what we throw at them. 3rd party deals whatever it takes IMO under no circumstances will he allow either of them to move. Lets face it on what they have shown you can see sthey are the type whom you could build your team and structure around like Carey/Mckernan (when he was decent) and Brown/Lynch.

Melbourne gets better of Tom Scully trade
Pennant St Dee replied to Demon2's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lets not lose sight of the draft being a lottery at times, yes you need recruiters to do their homework but there are always Fyfe's, Selwoods, Zharakis', Bartels who for one reason or another fall into your lap beause they are not rated as high as others. Or you can finish low down in a year when there are freaks in the draft, 2003 we finish down low in a draft that very few have really turned the footy world upside down. Another year and those picks 3 & 5 could have been Roughead & Buddy or Thomas & Pendlebury Chris JUDD fell into Meth Coasts lap in 2001 at Pick 3 and was the final piece in the puzzle with Kerr, Cousins & Gardiner who went down and was replaced by Cox. For these reasons I am dead against the suggestion from another thread in giving up pick 3 & 4 to get pick 1, I think 2 tips in the Top 5 will give you long term depth and a better chance of improving your list overall -
Melbourne gets better of Tom Scully trade

How is that Wyl, free agency is no different to us then any other club barring Pies, Bombers, Hawks and interstate clubs, most of the decent kids we have, have only been at the club 3-5 years so they are not free agents for another 3-5 years and they are not unrestricted for another 5-7 so if we haven't started winning by that stage it will mean no other club would touch them Is there ever a time when you are not so negative, I have talked people out of committing suicide who are more positive! -
+ 1 rate him as well has a great tank already and would benefit from full time training
-
FFS I've heard it all now, WYL you are absolutley clutching at straws, that presser was 16 months after he was drafted. In season 2010 he ran himself into the ground for us in all games he played. The Giants found a loophole in the uncontracted players clause and exploited it no one could have foreseen that in 2009
-
WYL that is BS the club realising we were behind the bigger clubs and deciding to throw money into getting the extra coaching staff and fitness people on board is a move forward, you have set your expectations to high for 2012 if you thought the magic switch would be flicked There is hope for this club WYL but you really have no hope with this continued slash my wrists talk you come out with

Just how good will Nic Naitanui become?
Pennant St Dee replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Worsfold is a good motivator, who for a long time has had a big spending footy department. Without stating the obvious if you recall the way Mark Harvey struggled when Chris Scott left as his sidekick, Walsh and Burns are the brains behind this team. The press was Walsh's idea and he implemented it toward the end of 2010. Woosha is good at pulling blokes into line but he is no tactical genius! -

Pennant St Dee replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
We only got it wrong if Natanui plays like that regularly. At this point in time Natanui is ahead of Jack and up to last night Jack was catching up but Nic Nat excelled last night. Nic Nat is ahead but there was a lot of what if's with him and he was raw, it was a big call either way and my mail is the club was really hard pressed to make the decision. If it turns out after 100games we got it wrong so be it, but I don't believe we got it horribly wrong and by that I'm talking Fiora before Pavlich and Tambling before Franklin. -
Melbourne gets better of Tom Scully trade

I'm kind of with you C & B but have the nagging being let down before by the boys. I have been impressed by the boys and hope they continue, unlike the Suns, GWS play to a decent structure and are not a free flowing side. We need the boys to continue the last 3 weeks form and put them away and not give them a sniff. I trust Neeld will net let the boys think it's just going to happen -
Look the tongue is firmly in the cheek but since according to another thread we made such a fook up of taking Scully over Martin and Cook over Darling, lets get the hindsight genius's put their recruiting nouse on the line and tell us who we should take. On a serious note I'm not happy I have to attend a family function on Sunday I was hoping to go and see the WA v Vic Country U/18's and see some of these kids in the flesh
-
Look BP made mistakes but not massive mistakes, our list problems stem back further to him being on board. Whilst he did not pick up ready to go from day 1 players it is magnified due to the senior players at our disposal
-
Yes because when he doesn't kick a bag in his first few hit out's demonland will go into meltdown
-
WYL if you believe DARLING would turn this side around and would have had the same impact with us last year that he had at Meth Coast you are mistaken
-
,WYL you can't have it both ways you said we butchered the pick by taking Cook. over Darling.
-
Big Statement WYL you have gone out on a limb and made it without even seeing Lucas Cook fully develop 1 week in footy is a long time let alone 2 years
-
Would pay $450 for Sidey not sold on Beams but not saying he's a dud just think he is not worth big money would not be against Sidey, Caddy & Viney and seeing a fit Trenners and Gysberts in there and Jack Grimes given a lengthy run injury free in the middle will only improve
-
FFS just get over it Cooky seems to be coming on well at Casey and Howe has also been very good. and to bring the Scully saga into it FFS He wouldn't have complimented Clark in 2011 and would not have had the same impact as at Meth Coast, but Im sure you all would have overlooked that feckin hindsight recruiters
-
Don't agree Sidebottom is the better of the two by a fair way IMO and BEAMS is not better than Jones, would you pay that for Jones, if you paid these 2 Pies $5-600K each you could get a Caddy, Koby Stevens and another mid whilst keeping money the following season to target another kid maybe GWS who may want to come home maybe Toby Greene (who will be very good IMO) Dylan Shiel. The Tigers actually did the right thing targetting fringe players they needed to fill the holes in their list whilst having in Cotchin, Martin, Grimes, Rance and other young players coming good . The players they targetted were not getting regular games at their own clubs They needed a running half back - Houli, a solid mid - Grigg and a Ruckman - Maric. Whilst I am happy to target a quality mid lets not target someone who plays in a very good side and pay overs. We need a quality mid, a half back to break the lines and press by foot and a small forward thats were the money needs to go
-
beams is good but he certainly is not worth $500k per year, He has been doing the pre seasons for 4 or 5 years now that our boys have only done for the first time. i would sound him out but not for thee amount some here are quoting
-
Tom Swift is a dud despite the injuries I have seen him play WAFL and get plenty of the ball due to far superior fitness than opponents but still continues to butcher it even with more time. Koby Stevens is a stand out for East Fremantle in the WAFL and just can't break into one of the top 2 midfields in the comp, would be a very good get and IMO would come farily cheap, may also be out of contract at end of season

The "I'm Glad There's No Matchday Thread", Thread

As I said WYL can't think of any of his direct opponents towelling him up either, Neeld is playing him defensively this year whilst Misson works on his fitness. -

Can't guarantee with injury etc WYL but you know MO on Trengove, has all the tools and has never been considered slow before. They are building his tank up and he is learning from the best opposition players getting challenged every week, Can you honestly tell me anyone who has absolutley panced him this year over an entire four quarters. He will be the better for 2012 -
Good call on Sidey anyway

The "I'm Glad There's No Matchday Thread", Thread
Pennant St Dee replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mark my words Olisik he will be better than Dusty in the long run, has been run into the ground by Misson and Neeld this year and it's part of the long term plan for him. Dusty has not set the world on fire this year but will also be a good player -
Can't believe those saying Sellar offered nothing, he took Dawes to the cleaners and thats two solid efforts in a row now, if he is dropped for GWS it will only be because there is no match up but could be needed if they decide to play GILES forward. Dunn another target offers vesersatility off the bench, can play as a defensive forward, run with player subs can be called upon ealry as happened with Didak today. Blease in what game 7 had a few bad moments but the kid will be the better for exposure in a big game, Morton has footy smarts and knows how to run and spread but supporters continue to call for the whipping boys to be dropped and old favourites like Petterd to come in with no form. Cook is not ready, Gysberts needs more game time and if we have a VFL game this week Martin needs another run and Dunn needs a full hit out. The Dees of 2011 would have rolled over today, really good heart and a will not to be smashed from the boys work in progress And in closing Green kicked badly today but was brave in contests, he has been a loyal servant and if it is his last season he deserves to go out in a bit of style
