  1. Don't forget last season Barty did jobs and did them well on Ablett, Cotchin & Kerr 3 weeks in succession from memory
  2. Good analysis
  3. If I was going to bring in a mid I'd get serious with the Scully picks and (quoting the great man) "Whatever it takes" to get either Dangerfield or Boak and PS: Yes I would love Pendlebury but I am trying to be realistic, Dangerfield is just ready to start breaking open games while I rate Boak highly and think he would be very good for our midfield
  4. Sorry Old Dee will have to pull you up here Jimmy will never be forgotten not just by us Dees, pretty sure they will strike some kind of medal in his honour not to mention the kids who's lives he has changed through Reach. I will always remember him and teach my children and grandchildren about him. Oh and please god when that fateful day finally comes our way on the last Saturday in September and we lift the trophy the first person I will think of and thank is Jimmy
  5. For those Demon Supporters in Perth, The Western Demons are having a memorial mass for Jim at St Josephs Church in Subiaco this Sunday March 25th 10.00am 2012.
  6. In death as in his life Jim will unite us
  7. What can I say, I had the privilege to meet you once and your jumper has pride of place in my house. My sons ask me about the jumper all the time and I tell them about the great player you were and how you became president of our club. Now thanks to you Jim when I take them to see the Dees I can tell them boys Daddy can take you to see the Demons play because of the work done by the man in that photo and who wore that number 11 jumper. You are gone but not forgotten, your legacy will live for ever and your heart will always beat true. Deepest sympathy to Sam, Matisse, Tiernan and all family and friends. Thank you Bigfella and may you forever Rest in Peace
  8. Gut wrenching pretty much sums it up, prayers and thoughts are with Jim, Sam, Matisse, Tiernan & all his family.
  9. Red & Blue Old Dee the Cardies or Falcons as they are called nowadays, when we came over from Ireland we were staying in Leederville and my father took me down to watch Claremont v West Perth the old boy decided he was a Claremont supporter so I went the other way. That Claremont side had some good players in it the Krakouer brothers, shorty Daniels, Graham Moss, Warren Ralph, Wayne Blackwell while we had Les Fong, Ross Gibbs (Bryce's father) the Duckworth boys to mention a few, teh good old Halcyon days of surburban footy
  10. As I stated previously by myself & BB59, games involving ourselves, Tiges, North, Crows, Saints, Dogs, Freo & Swans will play play a big part in showing where all of these teams finish from 6th to 14th, I dare say a mojority of these games will rely on performance on the day weather injuries and so many variables. Case of wit and see really for many of us
  11. To add one of the main missing links to the list whatever it takes with these picks and trades, they are out of contract as we speak so start speaking with their agents now, Dangerfield and/or Boak whatever it takes barring Trengove, Frawley, Jones, Clark, Jamar make it happen or players of similar ilk
  12. Some people can be senior players from the age of 21 like Carey, Judd and Jono Brown not that we have anyone like them on the list, but I think when you get around 23-27 having a good 100games under the belt you step up and will either be a senior player or just used to fill the gaps. I keep mixing up my posts on this thread and teh Where are we at thread but I am talking about these players starting to be the development of our nucleaus by the end of 2013 to 2014. I am very confident we will be in teh 8 by then. It is from 2015 onwards we start looking top 4 and from there you need everything to fall into place. I know you think our list aint great but living in Perth I watch WAFL regulalry and have seen a lot of the development in players from both West Coast & Freo's list and believe me some of them who are now playing regulalry at these sides were not stand outs in the WAFL. Our big change will be in having a game plan which does make a huge difference don't underestimate it once the players learn it along with that the players I have put in the above list are honest players who will put their bodies on the line that will be part of the change in mindset and culture of teh list for years to come. Rome wasn't built in a day Old Dee! "Tiocfadh Ar Lor"
  13. Sorry was this spot the odd one out, please don't forget Swan has a good tank and was a late developer he is not in the class of Judd or Ablett and Jones off our list is a similar player/younger version of Swan
  14. Frawley, Grimes, Trengove, Jones, Howe, Clark & Bartram despite what people think of him. On top of that we will have Martin, Mckenzie, Blease who will progress IMO and other we will pick up along the way
  15. I've gone 10th but don't see a lot of difference in finishing 7th to 13th, all depends on how many games we win against those also vying for those spots, Tigers, North, Swans, Crows, Saints, Freo, Doggies
  16. I probably didn't put it right what you will see by the end of next season and early 2014 is the core nucleues of our solid group of senior players. Not talking flags by then thats 2016 and beyond IMO
  17. I seem to recall the way from around 2008-2010 Collingwood under Malthouse started to leave out the likes of Presty, Medhurst, Lockyer, Holland and other senior players for a number of the kids they'd brought through. I think we will see the transition start to occur this season and our team by the end of 2013 heading to 2014 will be very different to what we may predict currently
  18. and what you & RPFC say is the difference in teams like West Coast, Fremantle & maybe Adelaide being able to turn things around fairly quickly. Having a good core of senior players is vital, we are heading there but it will come from our Chips, Jones, Trengove,Blease, Clark, Grimes an from what I've seen this year Tynan, Davis & Mconald. To those constantly berating our list, the list above none of them are the taller KPP thinner builds who we need to give a few years to see how they are going to end up. Not all doom & gloom just another 20/30 games into these boys think 1986
  19. Yes a bit of common sense here, although finals for me is a very longshot, people like to talk about West Coast but if you look at a lot of their younger players who came through last season they are now at the 80-100game mark and even Shuey had 3 pre season under his belt. The older players are not going to take us anywhere. The kids of this club are the ones changing the culture and the future draftees will follow their lead. Anyone contemplating suicide should never come on Demonland, it is very depressing at times with unrealistic supporter expectations
  20. Believe it or not Gossage is a Saints man, he is just like most journo's in this two team town refuse to say anything to negative against the Eagles for fear of beng shut out of the media circus
  21. If you were drafted to a club as a top pick and they were near the bottom after 8 years service they showed no improvement and weren't in finals contention then you would be forgiven for leaving. If I were a player who played 8 seasons and progressed through with a number of young players/mates in that time and saw us come from being a bottom eight side to a regular finals contender with Top 4 potential, i'd want to stay to see through what we had started. So IMO it's up to the clubs to hold players, I don't see the big deals Ablett and Our Former #1 pick were offered being a regular occurence.
  22. I live in WA and have to listen to this first class [censored] every day, he has absolutley no idea, knows a fair bit about racing but as far as footy goes he is useless, I nearly fell off my bike this morning when he declared Eagles as his pick for the flag. His top 4 is West Coast, Hawks, Carlton & Geelong.
  23. WYL as I've said before my greatest joy as a Dees fan to date was Western Oval Round 22 1987 after copping crap in the school yard as the stupid Irish Kid who picked the Dees to follow, my team were finally in September. And yes I was gutted in 1988 & 2000, but I'm not a fairweather supporter clearly none of us born from the 60's onwards are, Premierships are hard to win You are impatient last week after beating the pies and through the whole preseason you and others were talking us up, now after last weeks defeat lets hang ourselves. I told you and many on here lessons were learnt last year but you all expect Neeld to flick the magical switch, get out some old footage of the Hawks 2002-2007 many a good kicking in that time but they stuck with Clarko now look at them. Saints & Doggies fans have been just as patient as we have. So take some deep breaths and by Round 12 if were still not meeting your expectations then both yourself and Old Dee can start pinging the coach and players
  24. Bollocks we will be part of September in 2013, not what those on here want to hear but thats the truth and people always tell me we only made the GF in 2000 becuase we had the Olympics and finals were in August, GF was September and look what Dees turned up although that Bombers side was very good
  25. I think we have a bit with a lot of front end loaded contracts but really just ointing out despite what Demonland seems to want to portray not all doom and gloom with our club, you have to crawl before you can walk, big changes since the end of 2011 but will take time anyone who thinks otherwise will be disapointed for the first half of the season IMO
