I have not seen Viney or Toumpas yet play an AFL game but consider them and Mitch Clark off limits, but Richmond would not target Clark. Cotchin to me is worth a hell of a lot and there isn't much I would not give up for him. IMO he is a genuine star in the making and is next in line to take the mantle as Number 1 player in the competition.

I agree with you WA Demon another uninformed comment from an agitator. Current Board of Rosich & Harris are very unpopular in the Port City with a lot of members & supporters

Probably his personal pride C & B, pretty sure the young guys of 84-86 copped plenty of hammerings which made them enjoy the years after 86 that little bit more.

What was Chris Connolly like as a player?
Pennant St Dee replied to Courtney_Fish's topic in Melbourne Demons
CC was a good player with good skills and as others said was coming into his own before he was struck down with the knee injury. Without the injury CC would have been a vital part in that side which blossomed under Swooper -

Once again cheers to all for the updates They both smashed out a bunch of push ups which Toumpas did with ease compared to Hogan who was a little slowerThey both smashed out a bunch of push ups which Toumpas did with ease compared to Hogan who was a little slower Just in regard to the above, without being critical would expect this as having seen Hogan in the flesh he is pushing a fair bit up even at his age -
What song should the Demons run out to?
Pennant St Dee replied to DeeZee's topic in Melbourne Demons
These are IMO the worls best fans (probably biased) and if you think the Dees fans are used to losing and winning nothing try supporting Ireland, only thing we could win is a world cup at drinking. This clip was taken towards the end of a 4-0 loss to Spain in European Championships -
What song should the Demons run out to?
Pennant St Dee replied to DeeZee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not so sure about all other clubs playing other songs before games, Meth Coast & Freo don't. Both have pre game entertainment with Mascots heading around the boundary, before running out to their club songs. If they win they both play their club songs, before playing Eagle Rock by Mondo Rock for Meth Coast TNT by AC/DC for Freo Not keen on big change but if the club is going down this road Highway to Hell AC/DC would be my choice even though allegedly the song is about a road in Perth (Freo to be exact), think we could take meaning of Hell being hopefully what opposition sides will face on the field once we sort ourselves out -
Really got to feel for the kid, absolute tragedy, nice kid and really dedicated. David Parkin was only on the radio yesterday saying how he had some discussions with Morabito during his rehab and he had known him from the age of 15 when he assisted his(Morabito's) local club Harvey Bulls in tough times. Parko spoke of how positive Morabito had been during his rehab. I know from speaking with recruiters in WA that halfway through 2009, Trengove had not really shown much an we all know how well he finished off the year. At that stage I was told Scully and Morabito would be heading to Melbourne if we managed to get a priority pick. Well we all know what happened with OUR FUMBLING managing to get us a priority pick and now we end up with Trengove and neither Scully or Morabito at the Dees. Just hope somehow the kid can lift himself again and get through this latest setback. In full flight he is a joy to watch.

Howe to benefit from 2 mobile gorillas in the forward line, he is not the type of third forward you want your weakest backman on and he will also benefit from being fitter. Not going to nominate anyone for a down year want to see competition everywhere

West Coast + Cale Morton = Premiership?
Pennant St Dee replied to Dee man's topic in Melbourne Demons
East Perth for the Meth Coast recruits and Peel for the Dockers. I believe he may play a role though if Embley is injured. Can't see him standing out but you never know confidence is a big thing and whilst not possesing the mongrel required enough of their side does and he does have good skills when his confidence is up -
Good to see, the Casey move and the current supporters getting their off spring on board, along with some succesful years is what will keep this club alive

Bing I live in Perth with those Dogs and I am in my 40's, to me they will forever be known as Meth Coast

Survival 2012 - Video featuring the MFC and Muse
Pennant St Dee replied to 13thFlagIsComing's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great job 13th one thing about the video is it gives you hope, I remember some of those dark days of the 80's, oh I want my boys to feel the way I did in 87 when the Dees made their first finals in my lifetime. My oldest was 5 months old when we last played finals, so they have only seen very lean & dark times Once again great work buddy -
Jones may not have the class but last season he showed he is heading towards the work ethic of Hanneberry, Jack & O'Keefe. In regards to Jetta he always had pace it is the work ethic which lifted him to the next level, something I hope to see in Blease he has the tools now needs the engine. Sydney could be frightening with outside run options in both Jetta and a fit Rowan

Yes and that is why Josh Mahoney is still with us!

In all honesty Maldon boy I would take that if it came with a view of us heading in the right direction and 2014 with increased belief. I suppose the last 6 years we have endured makes me somewhat like that but I really want to be able to hold my head high and be proud of follwing a team that is hated for being hard bastards
-
They do but the likes of Embley & Gaff stay free in spaces between half back and wing to be the link between defence and attack, they clear the ball frequently via this route. I have also seen them clear back and wide slighly to Gaff who motors down the wing into space draws a man then centres for Lynch and or Darling to crash a pack. Morton will be able to play this role and if he gets his confidence up he could have a good year. Still don't regret letting him go he was done with us, hard decisions needed to be made

Harley Bennell arrested after NYE Brawl in WA
Pennant St Dee replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is agression and then there is stupidity. Not directing this comment toward Bennell but to the many WA boys who have had issues in bars. Not knowing any facts about the Bennell situation but from experience sometimes these boys can't really help it once they are back with their families. Like LJ'S situation last year they often get caught up in something that is none of their own doing, they attempt to intervene in tribal/family fueds. As role models they do their best but like a lot of AFL players find at nightclubs there is always someone who wants to make a name for themselves, cheap shots etc. No winners -
wyl I don't care if we put the ball through the stick 5 times once we keep the opposition to 4 I don't want us to get steamrolled anymore, I expect to beat the sides we should beat and win the majority of those who we expect to finish around us namely: Should beat Dogs, Port, Suns, Giants Win the majority of games against Bombers, Tigers, Lions, Saints, Roos if we do that and perform well against the other sides whilst sneaking a few wins I will be happy next year with a view to continued improvement in 2014. For me it's not about winning 10 games and losing 12 it's about the way we win and how competative we are in our losses, we are coming from a long way back. It doesn't mean I am setting the bar low it means I am looking at the big picture. Whenwe next make teh 8 I don't want to be there to make up the numbers

Harley Bennell arrested after NYE Brawl in WA
Pennant St Dee replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
I do not know what he said verbatim but my take was if you have two players who are equal you would er on the side of caution and not take the indigenous kid due to teh risk factor. and my take is he was not referring to all indigenous kids but those who come from very different backgrounds to metro areas. the short comings are not attributed to their race alone they are attributed to the environment they come from and like I said it is a problem with society which has filtered through to the AFL -

Pennant St Dee replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
I personally think Mcqueen has stated a fact and part of the fact involves indigenous footballers. Lets be honest the number of those recruited has dwindled and the reason probably needs to be looked at by the AFL. I know for a fact Mifsud never contacted Phil Smart of Swan Districts despite the well documented case of Dayle Garlett for two years. We can't hold back on speaking the truth for fear of being labelled a racist, that time has passed and the problems need to be addressed by everyone or we will get nowhere. There are to many people taking quids whilst holding positions within the AFL, ALS and other indigenous councils without really addressing the problems. The issue goes beyond footy and is across society, problems with indigenous youth are widespread and it is only natural they will flow into the AFL. Matty Rendell was hung out to dry for basically being honest. I fully understand where he is coming from why take the risk when other options are available. There is a difference in honesty and racism
