I am in agreeance with BH here it is not next year that excites me with Roos and I am under no illusion to a quick turn around. It is the long term benefits of instilling a culture and qork ethic into the club and player group. The examples of the leading teams and the expectations of each player to maintain standards, which were managed by the senior players with Roos. The way he groomed Longmire to such a seemless transition also excites me for the longterm future of the club. I am like a kid in the lead up to Christmas and when he signs it will be like Christmas morning

The difference Roos would make (VOTE AWAY)

Yep that's what I'm saying, there have been games this year and last where we have been blown away in 20 minutes, that IMO would not happen under Roos. -

A team with a full pre season under Roos and a few games into them under him would be well aware you tow the line or your out, you do the 1%ers, you take ownership when they get a run on and you kill the game and their momentum, you remain disciplined and never leave your man free, you force stoppages to kill the oppositions free running style or just to break momentum. It is the way the Swans played and it is the way Freo play, had we played that way today the 9 goal second quarter from the Dogs would have been halted after a run of 3, the goals we gave away with lose checking would have been far less the clearances and breakaways made from them with lose checking resulting in numerous inside 50's would have been reduced the discipline and team ethos to adhere to game plan and run hard for each other would make us some what robotic but reduce turnovers his game style pressurises opposition sides at stoppages, negates quick ball movement on the rebound and forces them to over possess increasing the capacity to turn the ball over whilst some consider this style not pretty under Roos we would be within range of opponents on most occasions due to his game plan. It is for these reasons we will see improvement against the sides in the bottom 6/7 and this will bring more wins. We will continue to struggle against the stronger sides but we will see improvement and small steps which IMO will make us a mid table side fairly quickly. -
6.Grimes - IMO he aint a mid and is much better playing in the backline 5. Frawley - was hard done by on a few occasions but just does the simple things as a defender 4.Davey - some great pressure in the second half and a couple of chase downs like Flash of old 3.Mckenzie - another solid tagging job 2.N.Jones - another solid effort not his best but just does his all for the jumper 1.Toumpas - the kid has developed through the season and the stint at Casey seems to have given him confidence to take the game on a little and draw a tackler before feeding off

Its about time to reflect on the Free Agency period
Pennant St Dee replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
CROSS is the only player on that list who appeals to me in all honesty. Thomas would add much needed class and gut running but will come at a heavy price, which I think you could get two B grade players for. We need depth -
BBO everything seems to look better to me this weekend than it was a few days ago after the 50/50 news. But can't say your avatar is in any way appealing at this stage

I'm not and no they aren't, there are a large number who were recruited in 08/09 when they were struggling for numbers with the mining boom and will be another 300 in the next 18 months from UK, Ireland & NZ.

Cheers for that Swooper, happy days back then. Love the roar when the Hawks hit the front

No he is icing on the cake for a side that is in the Premiership mode, not what we would be looking for IMO

Still my greatest memory as a Dees fan that day, I was 15 at the time and my youngest boy is now 6, he has stayed loyal while the older brother has headed to the filth. I can't wait to see the 6 year olds face the day the Dees make the finals for the first time in his life. What I would give for the joy I felt on that day again. One thing I have never forgotten as a Dees fan was a defeat at the cattery in either 08 or 09 and when the Cats were singing the song after the game the cameras panned around their circle and James Kelly was pretending to be asleep on a team mates shoulder. I know they have every right to be arrogant but I have wanted our boys to towel him up from that day on. I hope he plays long enough to see the tables turned

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

Off field - Absolutley no way, have had dealings with him professionally = [censored] On field - absolute star but the game has passed him by gave everything and certainly punched above his weight. His body has taken a hammering over the years and IMO he is just about done, maybe get half a dozen good games out of him -
I've just come in from an arvo on the p155 and hoping this all isn't part of a drunken dream and I wake up tomorrow to hear we have signed the dynamic du of drum & rohde

1 year contract with option of a 2nd, as others has said plenty of cons in taking him and his attitude and fanatical training could rub off -
I just want the best candidate, if that is Simpson, Tudor, Eade, Williams, Richardson or Roos I don't care. I actually have faith in Parkin being able to pick the best candidate through the process.

Lets not go there BH we are all wrong at times.

Does Dave Misson deserve a pass or fail?
Pennant St Dee replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have no idea regarding any specific programme or what our goals/kpi's distance etc is but I think along the lines of the chicken and the egg what came first 1) Our players work as much and as hard as other sides the problem lies in us chasing tail a fair amount due to our poor disposal causing turnovers while we are on the break and players being forced to work back more than other sides on the rebound. This would surely tire out the players 2) Is a lack of fitness causing our players to fatigue more than other sides. I know being fatigued has some link to efficiency and poor disposal. I believe point 1 is probably more on the mark as our poor disposal is occuring in the first quarter which has little to do with fatigue. I think the lack of confidence and belief has caused problems with disposal and players wanting to run and spread to demand the ball. -
if we had $1.5 million to spend rather than see it thrown at someone I would rather see us clear some more money and get 3 quality players in for $600k per season
