The off season articles over the past few seasons were about how the talented kids were going to to take the team forward. Nothing was ever said about how hard they would actually have to work to actualize the talent into performance. I don't see the plethora of articles as being about how hard-a*sed Neeld is, as much as about the reality of what it takes to be successful in this competition - something this club hasn't been for 47 years.

Terrific article in tomorrow's Hun about him

3.189k. I've run it more times than I care to count. -
I love our logo, and red is my favourite colour - so let's own it!

Last evening on SEN, Scott Lucas was waxing lyrical on how professional the club was, how well it handled Aussie and how he believed the future was rosy for us.

2011 Player Review - # 45 Kelvin Lawrence ®

Has got a bit of x factor about him. Needs to buckle down and work hard so he can impact for longer during games. I like what I've seen in short bursts so far. -

'The question with him will be the commitment because we couldn't keep him in Perth' - Claremont development officer quoted in Inside Football. -
The only way Clark's arrival impacts on Martin is that it allows Neeld a wonderful opportunity to be flexible. I doubt that we've even scratched the surface of what Martin can deliver. 6 years of aussie rules and 50 games of an AFL career combined with his high intelligence and drive (not to mention his size and mobility) will result in something a lot more than a 2nd ruck.

PCL stuffed his year when he was going well. HTA %age still top notch. A good preseason and he'll be at his best again.

Sylvia Clark Jetta/Davey Howe Green Jurrah; with Watts Petterd Trengove Martin Jamar all visiting regularly.

A player of great talent and, lately, little application. Looked injured for the whole of 2011. Make or break season ahead. I would like nothing more than to see the old Flash resurrect himself. I have my doubts, but hope I'm wrong.

I have no expectations of him - so I'm confident he'll meet them.

For a bloke of his size to have played only 50 games and generated the stats he has (4th kicks and I50's, 5th m + contested m) is fantastic. Some of the things he showed demonstrated a little x factor. He's only played footy for 6 years. He may not yet be a gun, but if he keeps improving (and barring injury, that is inevitable) he soon will be.

The glass is both 1/2 full and 1/2 empty as far as I can see. With few injuries, a solid game plan and natural improvement, I would hope (nay, expect) to finish 7 - 10. Crucial injuries and we'll just be chasing our tail again. Experienced players (I very much hesitate to call most of them leaders) will need to give their all, and new roles will be needed to be learnt by quite a few. At this time last year I thought our biggest weakness was the coach and his cohorts. I believe, and pray, that that has now been rectified. So all we can do now is hope.

Clark, I would imagine, will take the mobile CHF role similar to Cloke's. Watts, with his excellent decision making, kicking and pace could easily play the role that Goddard does, and Martin is starting to show that he can play anywhere. These guys may be tall, but they are pacy and mobile. They will allow flexibility, and enable Neeld to ensure mismatches during games. Gawn has so far exceeded all my expectations and will one day be elite. Pencil will be the one we can discard - hopefully by trading him at the end of 2012.

#1 if he wants it. #11 belongs to Maxie after he finishes with #37 (following Jimmie).

Finally, our monster forward.

81 goals in his 1st 35 games, with heaps of development to come. A new game plan. I can't wait!
