  1. FWIW I thought given how few there were available to play today, it was an acceptable performance in an ordinary game. Jones continues to become to become elite (29 @ 97%) . Howe finally had a DE above 60%, as did Sylvia. Joel Mac's DE was 91%. Tommy Mc continues to improve. Gys was reminded about the pace and intensity of AFL. Green showed he hasn't lost it all. Dunn is continually improving under the new regime. The captains led well. Blease needs to see some vision of Davey's 2004. Tappy indicated how good he's going to be. Some of you will never be happy!
  2. Poor Wallsy - a bitter bitter man who can no longer score a gig at the top rating stations, or on tv. How it must have been ego shattering for him when both 7 and Foxtel told him he was unwanted. He is an irrlevant anachronism. He just doesn't know it yet.
  3. Gary Ablett Snr was shorter and jumped higher. Howe is great but Ablett was unique.
  4. 6 Jones 5 Dunn 4 Tommy Mc 3 Green 2 Joel Mac 1 Howe
  5. the Dees by 22 points
  6. 5. And wondering what Brock will say when not at CarlTANK any more (remember the Kreuzer cup macca) - this bloke spent a lot of the summer lying on his mother's couch drinking [censored]!
  7. Was talking to one of the assistant coaches at Port Melbourne who really rates Williams. He reckons that clubs try and close his run down and don't worry too much about Cook. Also reckons with another (and this time full) preseason behind him will be very good at AFL level.
  8. out: Jetta Nicho Spencer in: Gys Evans Fitz
  9. And they're carrying white jackets with very long sleeves
  10. Majority? - not what I see reading the various posts. A very loud, nasty and STUPID minority.
  11. He was good. As was Gys. And Fitz was ok. Morton = good stats but seemed soft at times.
  12. Want to bet some money on that PLEASE!!!!!
  13. 6 Jones 5 Tommy Mc 4 Grimes 3 Moloney 2 Joel Mac 1 Frawley
  14. Jars has a track record of getting nothing right in the wild fantasies that he peddles as rumours. There were about a dozen last year that he peddled in Inside Football - 100% wrong!
  15. At his very best would struggle to get into the best 22. He has rarely achieved his best. That's pretty damning.
  16. Don't bet on it
  17. I was a runner for over 40 years. Tore my calf very badly a couple of years ago and it's only starting to come good now. I've helped train runners. One of my best mates was the AFL umpires running coach in the '80's and '90's. What Misson has done has been to concentrate on building the players' engines to senior AFL standard - to make them capable of gut running at an appropriate standard. In one of his interviews earlier in the year (around about round 9'ish) he said that they were still doing preseason type training every week. He did much the same at StKilda and Sydney early days. This means that this year the players would naturally be slower (and also says that the FD must pretty well have written the year off at the start) but their engines will be bigger next year. However, next preseason it wont be too difficult to speed them up and yet improve on the endurance running capacity they are building this year. I like the way Misson is working. For mine, the jury's still out on Neeld but Misson's a beauty. We've also got 'the scientist' and he approves. s
  18. How about we wait 'til the end of next year before making any judgements about whether he can coach.
  19. You obviously didn't live through Denis Jones's coaching - loved him as a player, but his coaching
  20. i, too, have felt particularly destraught this year - although, intellectually, I expected not much better. I hoped for 8-10 wins, but actually expected 4-6. It must be because I've been watching them since 1954 and grew up with expectations of better. You'd think that having been through the false dawns of 1987 -1992, and 1998-2004, I would have learnt - but no. A list that was as unfit as ours, had done nothing but downhill ski for years, could not be expected to learn to become defensive and gut run in a year. Their lack of fitness was bound to be shown up - particularly in the area of skills when fatigued or pressured. No coach aiming for long term success could find an easy fix. This team had to go a long way backwards before it could go forwards. Considering the injuries, all I now look for is committment and effort. And that is being provided. A viable game plan and the skilled execution of same will hopefully come, starting next year. Careful (and not overly excessive) list culling, and intelligent recruiting will hopefully see reasonable results as early as next season. For me, the important improvement will be in percentage - not games won. A percentage of over 95 will indicate that we are genuinely competitive. The jury is still out on Neeld, but as demon supporters we should all pray he's another red fox. It appears some of you desperately want him to fail - WHY?
  21. Neeld did not say that we would be the hardest team to play against in 2012. How could they be when they are the least fit team in the AFL {bar the newbies and the dogs). Moloney and Morton have not done enough at Casey and still don't defend. Did anyone see Moloney not chase Little twice last week - resulting in Little kicking 1.1. Morton took his eyes off the ball twice to avoid contact. A hard relentless preseason and we'll see what happens next year. DB was not a coaches bum. I wanted him sacked after year 2 I don't yet know whether Neeld is any good, but the team is a lot harder at the ball. L'll wait another year before passing judgement.
  22. 6 Grimes 5 Jetta 4 Dunn 3 Tommy Mac 2 Jones 1 Nicho
  23. 1981 when our only win came from a goal after the siren
  24. Jaded - Dunn did a good job in defence with 20+ possies at 95% efficiency. Don't knock him
