  1. So to answer my own question Oliver would join 3 other players (that i can find) to make the AA team in their 2nd year; Ricciuto, Wingard and Jeremy Cameron. Other notables are 3rd year - Judd, Selwood Bontempelli, 4th - L Matthews, N Buckley, Dangerfield and that disgraced ex Essendon coach 5th - Carey, Voss and Fyfe 6th - G Ablett Jnr 10th - G Ablett Snr
  2. Regarding Oliver, how many second year players have made the AA team? I'm guessing it would be a small and illustrious list
  3. I honestly don’t understand why he would choose Carlton over us. We are a good two years ahead of them.. I very much want Kelly at the Dees. Would have him over Lever in a heartbeat
  4. Yes I’ve always wondered why some see our stereotype as a bad thing Melbourne supporter - drives nice car, earns good money, goes skiing Collingwood supporter - not particularly smart, no teeth, on dole and perhaps renting house from a Melbourne supporter. I know which one I would prefer
  5. He should take it before they change their minds.
  6. Paul Callery Did Earl Spalding wear one for a bit? There must be some more recents
  7. Re the finals I have us Beating Port in adelaide in the Elimination then Beating the Tigers in front of 95,000 at the G in the second semi-final. It is the game of the finals. Getting done back in Adelaide after a hard fought match We finish the year in 4th place. I'm happy
  8. In - Keilty (T. Mc goes back fwd) Out - Weideman
  9. And either hand; bouncing or handballing
  10. That is a ripper Luther. Thankyou. It is difficult to explain to younger supporters how good Robbie was. Footballers today are full time professionals with unbelievable resources and support yet there is not a player running around in a Melbourne jumper at the moment who comes close to matching Flower’s skills.
  11. That sort of info is gold. Thank you for passing it on QD
  12. Given how far he has come in such a short time Corey is a very weird combination of a 26 y.o with some serious upside.
  13. i agree with what everyone is saying about pokies. They are a blight on our society. It is however a vital income stream for the club. $10.3m* pretty much covers the entire total salary payments ($10.37m) for 2017. Our 42,000 members would contribute just over $5m at an average of of $120 per member. We need to develop other income sources but in the meantime we unfortunately need pokies *No idea if this is a net or gross figure
  14. Good get. It would be interesting to know Dew’s thoughts on this now considering he is still the midfield coach at the Swans whereas the bloke, in what would have been his job, is about to coach a finals side.
  15. It is difficult to define 'footy IQ' but instinctively you can tell Hogan has it in spades. A couple of years ago when Jono Brown, Brereton and every other ex power forward we’re lining up to praise Jesse they were all saying that, as a 19 year old, he was doing things naturally that normally you don’t learn and master till you are in your mid 20’s. When Jesse is on his body positioning (like Pettraccattack vid above) is sublime and he has the ability to know how things will unfold before anyone else. Aside from his marking I think we will know when he back to his absolute best when he is again pulling out some of those impossible lightning quick handballs to players running past. Bring it on
  16. I sort of understand that Pies supporters and management may be a bit put out that the freeze/MND/Daniher night is scheduled for the QB clash. It would make more sense if we played that match against the druggies on a Friday night. We get another blockbuster, the AFL get to promote another big stage cause night and Essendon get to honour a favourite son and lose to us. Win, Win (almost) Win
  17. Jordan Lewis on 360 tonight said Viney’s injury was normally a six week one but he recovered in 16 days. He said some players can play through pain better than others and that mental strength has a lot to do with it. Jack Riewoldt then talked about cousin Nick and his ability to play through injury and made the link to Jack. I wasn’t a fan of Viney being promoted to co-captain but it would be difficult to find a more inspirational and hard at it footballer or one more dedicated to the cause. The bloke was born to captain this club
  18. I remember the days when I counted anything less than a 10 goal loss as bit of a win
  19. Just quietly though Powell-Pepper is pretty handy for a first year player. Good size, strength, aggressiveness and footy skills. Wouldn’t mind him in the red and blue.
  20. If that is right that makes me very happy
  21. If the Trengove of 2011/12 turned up he would stroll back into our current best 22. The Jack from five seasons ago was Bartel-like with his marking, could run all day, could read the play, had above average disposal and could kick 50m. Aside from his leadership qualities he was made captain because he was a very good player. Asde from the obvious emotional desire for a Phoenix rebirth a fully fit and firing Trengove could give us pretty much a free hit at a bloody good player. It still freaks me out to think he is only 25. I would be tempted to give him one more season to see where it takes him.
  22. Yes it is difficult to see how we can get top 4 but there is a good chance we will play Richmond in the first week which is almost the same as getting the double chance
  23. Does anyone else laugh when watching the speed Oliver gets ball, makes a decision of where to send it too and then disposes of it. Breathtaking
