  1. True but I would have Tom Lynch at the top of both my draft now and current best lists
  2. It can't be easy for Freo. Playing away from home on an unfamiliar ground, the crowd is against them, they have nothing to play for and they have lost their best player and captain. Hopefully they will do the right thing and fold
  3. Just seen the Swans have locked Callum Mills up till the end of 2023, seven seasons away. They have a history of long contracts with Buddy on a ten year on and Heeney I think till 2021(?). Personally I think anything over a four year contract is too much of a gamble but then I wouldn't mind if the MFC put a long term in front of Clayton. It is difficult not to see him playing 200+ games
  4. I am as tragically rusted on MFC member as you can get and will always remain grateful that others can't see how much time I waste thinking about all things Melbourne. Unfortunately the club don't know that the only reason that I won't renew is because I have passed on (and like my father I hope to have my ashes scattered at CHF, scoreboard end) so Josh rang last night to see if I was going to sign up as I haven't gotten around to it yet.
  5. Yes I do the same mainly as I was hoping for Parish to be a complete bust just because he was drafted by Essendon. Unfortunately he has been very, very good particularly for a small skinny young mid.
  6. Good attitude. If we lose you won't be overly disappointed but if we win you'll be the the happiest, stokest man on Demonland.
  7. Like many here I really can't see any sense in playing both Gawn and Spencer against the Saints on Etihad. The problem is that we have gone with this combination for all our practice matches. If we were to leave Spence out we would be going with a new second ruck and a different forward set up. As Goodwin doesn't strike me as a leave it to chance sort of bloke I'm assuming that we will roll the dice and play both big guys. It is a bit like last year when the only people who didn't know that Frost wasn't a forward were the blokes who made the decision to play him there. Either way we are going to be left with a relatively unpracticed combination or one unsuited to the St.Kilda at Etihad.
  8. Disposal could be better If everyone was 5% better we win Best part was no injuries Bring on Rnd 1!!!
  9. Saty, Do you know what's up with Frost and if he is any chance for Rnd 1?
  10. Ok so I may have a slight anti Essendon bias but since their 2012 on the gear year, where they came 11th, after forgetfully leaving all their soft tissues in the off side injecting facility they have come 2013 9th 2014 7th and the most recent year with a full AFL list 2015 15th Since then they have added a couple of promising young kids and a few average extras. They will now get back a bunch of senior players who, at best, will be unlikely to surpass their 2015 year. Im happy that a few have them in the 8 as this will raise expectations and cause further disillusionment when they fail miserably Second last (17th) if they are lucky.
  11. 18. Pretty much the only good record Melbourne still holds
  12. That is because we beat them and subliminally we all think if we can beat them then they must be pretty bloody average. It also explains why no-one on here rates Richmond
  13. Warren Dean Paul Wheatley
  14. Yes it was the day my girlfriend at the time changed from her families team (Collingwood) to become a Dee. We married the next year.
  15. Off topic I know but now that Essendon have axed general admission tickets to their Anzac day match and increased reserved seating prices by 50% I am so hoping that our Anzac eve match draws a bigger crowd.
  16. Yes they are all stars of the game but if you can't divorce expectations from his draft pick perhaps you should have a look at his draft Top ten were; Watts NicNat Hill Hartlett Hurley Yarran Rich Vickery Ziebell and Davis No Pendles, Bonts or Judds in that lot.
  17. Not sure how Shelley Scott can have an injured shoulder and be out of the side but also be named as an emergency
  18. I'm a big fan of Tom McDonald but not when his name is used in the same sentence as "fearless football " It may be an over complicated message but perhaps Tom's brand should be "first option football" and then whoever he gives it to can be fearless
  19. Well I suppose the silver lining out of all this carry on is that when Watts eventually plays he should, at least, be as good as last year 5th B & F, 38 goal result but more consistent and with a more aggressive edge. Happy days
  20. Impossible to know but I wonder how many extra members will be down to the inclusion of women's league? The Dees are probably the best team to watch, certainly of the Melbourne based sides, and have the most recognisable player. Seeing the number of number 6's on the backs of kids jumpers I'm guessing isn't down to Jordan Lewis. Getting a rock solid foothold in this market before the inclusion of sides from Richmond/Hawthorn/Geelong get started could help secure a financial bonus for years to come.
  21. Thanks for that article LH. I was wondering how long the contracts were for. Not sure if we can start signing required players up now. You would imagine most players staying at their respective clubs perhaps aside from GWS who have a few ring ins. At the least you would want confirmation from the core group that they will stay. In my book the least likely to leave; O'dea closely followed by Daisy.
  22. Watts is mentioned in the third paragraph. If anyone was the culprit I was hoping it was him showing aggressive intent but he was just helping him find the teeth
  23. I wonder how women's basketball is going at the moment? Patterson, Mifsud and Pearce the ruck all come from a basketball background and I'm sure there are many from other teams too. Reckon we could drag Lauren Jackson out of retirement and leave her one out in the goal square
