Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

If true Collingwood look like having more holes than a kilo of Swiss Cheese. Are the floodgates opening up? -
Allowing players to pull out their six guns and saying things like "I wont go to a bottom six club" makes any sort of equalization a fairy tale. Top clubs love it and simply cant lose with this sort of behaviour. Revision urgently required on player movement circus, with a little smart thinking needed around all of this. Lower clubs, need to be able protect their roster , be fairly compensated and not be locked out of a fair bidding process. As it stands this isn't the case.

I suppose you're right . Kick the bloody thing in there often enough and surely someone will kick the goals. Cameron or Reid would be handy to support Dawes and young Hogan however.

What if proposed Port trades ark up with concerns over player welfare at Essendon?

Could Sydney enter the ring for pick three. Hope so!

Ryder Cup was really good after 3/4 time.

One of our worst efforts at the draft table. Highlights need to go for best available rather than trading for position weakness. -
Sir Kenneth Luke built Waverley ( Arctic park and a huge success with no transport) and Spencer St is about to be sold for public housing or something isn't it?
-
Earl another poster said something along the lines "Whilst the PP has been ruled out, other forms of assistance were still possible" Perhaps in their minds that may mean something like 3 for Frawley and second rounder for Clark but you end up in therapy trying to figure it out. IMO the flimsy motherhood attempt at justification ( at face value) simply doesn't stack up. Could it indicate the AFL's immediate preference for the quartile it likes to see the MFC operating in? Slowly suffocating until its ultimate demise and the ultimate objective of further freeing up the MCG for them. Makes you wonder how they go about things and the real agendas. Could be so easily avoided by disclosing how the real decision was arrived at.

Wouldn't it be nice to see the formula , requirements and see how we didn't qualify. But I suppose that would be a bit much to ask.

With all the player movement distortions, happy to begin playing in the big boys league. National draft is devalued and generally takes a while to bear fruit anyhow. We may also need to consider St Kilda in the equation?
-
I reckon that covers it Red.

The player movement rules should be crystal clear, unambiguous and transparent. How's the AFL stacking up so far?

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

How does Vlad come out in all of this now ( not that it matters I suppose). Nonetheless the AFL haven't been spanked. Is the criticism he copped reasonable? -
The 200+ blokes are the ones that are hard to match up on and cause the trouble.

Leaving the political correctness matter aside as it gets up my skirt on occasion also. Lumumba seems to be on the outer at Collingwood does he not? Personally I couldn't give a tuppeny about his beliefs, they are his, but it looks like its upset a few at Collingwood , they it also seems, would like the problem to go away and here is a possible solution. My concern simply is, that a straight swap for Clark IMO is unders.
-
Haha but we would be taking some sort of risk as would they. So its an even platform, therefore who is the most valuable and lets take the trade from there.
-
Either way he's not working harmoniously at Collingwood.
-
Isn't the equation that we get Lumumba with some issues, they get Clark with some issues and therefore compensation be based on their comparative playing value. IMO we should get Lumumba+ on this basis.
-
Be nice Red, as a special case, but the macro doesn't work now, if it ever did.

2012 they had a crack, coming up 2015 after what's gone on, in an overall sense, time for a follow up.

Yes the St Kilda position is somewhat unusual, but the way the AFL control player movements through rubbery adjudication and assessment, doesn't provide for a fair system. The AFL mechanisms for allocation in some instances are vague ( PP and Free Agency Compo to some degree ). Said before I reckon it needs review and happy to stand by that. I just don't get sometimes, why the AFL does try to even up the financial side of things for all, yet is misses the boat on some clear regulation around player movement which leaves the whole thing open to manipulation ( often by them).

Whispering makes a good point. There are dodgy high picks awarded to the Interstate and new franchise clubs which were initially to support them, but which seem now to be out-dated and unwarranted. Yet they still go on and on and on (You also and also need to be a Philadelphia lawyer to work them all out.) The AFL, has at its discretion, the ability to utilise the PP as support and its a little difficult to imagine someone being more worthy candidates to receive same, than ourselves. ( Sadly) I don't believe its out of the question that we should pursue .

Slower. But a few on here don't worry about that.
