  1. Be nice Red, as a special case, but the macro doesn't work now, if it ever did.
  2. 2012 they had a crack, coming up 2015 after what's gone on, in an overall sense, time for a follow up.
  3. Yes the St Kilda position is somewhat unusual, but the way the AFL control player movements through rubbery adjudication and assessment, doesn't provide for a fair system. The AFL mechanisms for allocation in some instances are vague ( PP and Free Agency Compo to some degree ). Said before I reckon it needs review and happy to stand by that. I just don't get sometimes, why the AFL does try to even up the financial side of things for all, yet is misses the boat on some clear regulation around player movement which leaves the whole thing open to manipulation ( often by them).
  4. Whispering makes a good point. There are dodgy high picks awarded to the Interstate and new franchise clubs which were initially to support them, but which seem now to be out-dated and unwarranted. Yet they still go on and on and on (You also and also need to be a Philadelphia lawyer to work them all out.) The AFL, has at its discretion, the ability to utilise the PP as support and its a little difficult to imagine someone being more worthy candidates to receive same, than ourselves. ( Sadly) I don't believe its out of the question that we should pursue .
  5. Slower. But a few on here don't worry about that.
  6. Why not look for a player with both? I take your point on the players you mention and their qualities, but prefer a Judd, Abblett, Cotchin Griffin, Watson type at pick two or three. I wasn't convinced on the Brayshaw highlights reel but l don't see him every week, which was why I asked the question. I don't agree speed is overrated either, but if its simply about securing a footy smarts only type, my preference would be a ready made one rather than a wip.
  7. So was Brock McLeans. Watching the finals, our need for speed and aggression couldn't be more apparent.
  8. Young Gil has a very big black mark from me re the tanking outcome and subsequent penalty. ( In particular no other club penalty, but that's old news and he couldn't give a stuff anyway). Lets hope he doesn't fall over again re awarding appropriate compensation for Clark or Frawley should either of them move on. The current player movement rules massively favour those at the top of the table already, we don't need further encouragement from the AFL.
  9. I agree Jabber. I find being called an infidel by some religious group totally outrageous and totally unacceptable.
  10. If anyone understands that the player taken at pick one in the draft may not be all that important in the final analysis, then it should be us. Not over fussed about all of this and on the back of last year, feel comfortable that our folk will get us some worthwhile players.
  11. I don't think our recruiting people are completely stupid these days. Be surprised if Mitch's future wasn't carefully worked through.
  12. Who knows what the real story is? What if Melbourne for example were in a position to secure a younger gun forward say a Reid or a one of the GWS crew of forwards? Maybe we have a position on this and the risk of a Clark return? If a trade to Collingwood secured us a running back we so desperately need for essentially free, might this not be a bad option? Happy to leave it with Roos and Co.
  13. Couldn't help notice the size, strength, toughness and resolve of the Swans and Freo players and the Essendon /North players also for that matter. Total commitment and bodies on the line for 100 minutes. I hope we recruit more of these types.
  14. Don't believe that. Hawthorn would never plot to undermine another teams list.
  15. Depends which way you look at it. Could be seen as some sort of punishment at times.
  16. Agreed Red. A ridiculously inequitable system falsely concocted by the players association ( Who IMO have greater voice than supporters who generate AFL revenue!) under the guise of giving borderline players a greater chance . Handsomely welcomed , of course, by the stronger, richer, clubs who saw it as a great opportunity for abuse, rape and pillage and they have executed to perfection. ( We should have a thread on the best at this. Sydney & Hawthorn followed closely by Geelong and Collingwood would be my order.) Realistically the scam devalues and re models the ND, completely distorts fair compensation and needs an urgent review.
  17. Thank god his manager said that, even though he is a gigantic [censored] for doing so! IMO he's just another cooked footballer trying to extract some dough from a dopey club willing to pay. Personally I doubt if he will find one.
  18. If he was any good Collingwood would keep him. He had his chance to come to us didn't he?
  19. I agree with your third point but the system needs work. An unfair and manipulative system is discriminatory in my view.
  20. Why is the compensation not designed to fully compensate a club for the loss of a key player? How is this a fair system?
  21. Backline ok with appropriate gap back up. Reckon bigger bodies who may be able to kick goals like Reid ( forward ruck) and Tomlinson (who can play both ends) come right into Roos's sights with trades, Stretch of course and then going deeper in the draft for more mids.
