Open training miscommunication - another MFC unforced error
Dockett 32 replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
They should have done better. Not sure why but pretty sure they might get the message now. -
The Newton/Michie thing is good either way. Puts pressure on all the midfield to win their positions each week. Throw in Brayshaw and the Van and we have better options now.

I kind of hope the focus player movement these days, becomes more about who or what you get, rather than who you lose. You can in reality do very little about the latter. The rules are clear as to when FA and RA trigger ( albeit the AFLPA wants to lower even further) so the dilution of appropriate compensation for losses in this area would make process inequitable IMO, yet the drums beat from time to time. Organising other trades within contract is somewhat easier rests with the clubs.

Like the club wanting to get discussions underway early. Now allows for some healthy bidding from any suitors. Also allows a whole season for ongoing list analysis ( holes that will need to be filled) plus plenty of time for club to get a potential plan "b" co-ordinated in need. Jeremy calling the shots, but seems fair for everyone. Reckon our club thinking on trading and recruiting has come along way over the past few years. Flush things out nice and early and give yourself time to get in the drivers seat.

Handy player and I hope he stays. Love his extraordinary high marking. Imagine we would do quite ok in a trade situation and of course he has to put it together on the field and not get seriously injured to secure a solid deal for himself. Frawley taught us all a good lesson last year and I'll be stuffed if I'm going to get my knickers in a tangle again this year. No one is really indispensable ( Refer Ablett/Franklin) and you can trade quite well around things in need.

Re Gawn ( and all the others) it's better to get the cobwebs off pre season. Not too fused and gives the coaches something to talk about. Would like to see Maxxy show a little more aggression however and believe he is our best big man option. Doubt if he would have missed from 10 metres after 200 games and can win a possession or two around the ground.

Thought it was an ok effort. Room for improvement (rucks and up forward) but Lumumba , Frost , Hogan , Newton and the Van improve the group.

Believe Alex Carr may have a brother who plays for Willy. Might be the reason.

Nice Jonesy.

Surely this one should be far easier than dealing with the others. This bloke has a string of Blueys , led the club and surely has red and blue pumping through his veins. If the difference between bid and offer is $50k per season, or if its simply an extra season that's the issue, then I cant imagine closure wouldn't be sooner rather than later. If the ask is something silly like $750k for 6 years, then there's work to do, but I would like to think Jonesy and the club could get this one sorted pretty easily. Would be a great boost for everyone to begin the season.

Don't buy it, but happy for the two of them and others to fight it out for a spot. Be a bonus if they both turned it on. -
Cluedo might have been a stretch, can understand him not wanting to be put through that too often. Let's hope Hogan and or Dawes will be another pillow fight he doesn't want to remember either. Agree with Pates re the 4-6 weeks of ordinary football situation for some. Sad state of past lists may have contributed to that, but that's well on the way to being rectified. The days of soft selection due to lack of options is over.
-
Don't think so this time. But we shall see. They may not all do it but I reckon a few will.
-
Hogan to make a Darling like ( or better) intro , Petracca to make a Judd like intro, Viney , Gawn and Tyson to take it up a notch, Lumumba and Garlett to add skill and polish. Dare to dream.

I thought he had crook knees Leon?

"Least inviting ground in the VFL to watch footy from". That's a big call BB. Have you ever played or watched a game at Willy on a windy cold winters day? Werribee or Frankston perhaps? Cannot agree at all. Sandringham is not even terraced and has minimal coverage for patrons. All in the eye of the beholder I suppose, but one things for sure, Casey is in a fast growing corridor with many young families. I would have thought there was a reasonable prospect of building a decent enterprise around this.

Think for the alignment to work its, imperative for local community to buy in. How you make that happen I'm not sure exactly, but getting the best local players and extensive marketing and benefits to the locals cant hurt.

Think Roos plays media folk like a Stradivarius. Been down the track a million times, cant recall him being caught and gives plenty back in a veiled way. Also not frightened to tell it the way he sees it. Free Agency and player movement for example. Heard him say "It is what it is" and then he seems to work his way around it with decent planning. The Frawley movement was one thing, overlaying skilful drafting on the back of it for a win is another. Linking/grouping of players brings not only a stronger culture and competitiveness it also makes it no easier for the predator clubs. Don't think Roos is any dill.

Portends? Ease up BB. Had to scramble for the dictionary. Very educational site this. -

Ingredients for turnaround didn't seem to backwards over the draft period. I like the idea of the linkages of players, orchestrated or not. Brothers McDonald, Glenelg coupling, Petracca/Brayshaw and Lamumba/Dawes as fellow premiership players. You would reckon it will build a group that are prepared to really go to battle together. Think Roos gets this. Seems to me, very Sydney like. -
Is he better than every other rookie prospect out there? If he is, take him.
-
Western Jets? We don't go out there much do we?
-
If we were to receive$500k, happy to pay him as a rookie for a year, otherwise not a snowflakes.

What a sad lot we are. Here we are getting all warm and moist over Brayshaw which I suppose is fair enough, yet his highlights reel is no better than JT's , or his credentials better , yet on the other hand many here are ready to burn him at the stake 'finished' they say. Finished, trade him, get him out of the joint is the implication. I find it disappointing we aren't prepared to give this kid more than a fair go because that's what he tried to do for us, more than likely when he was battling his own issues. Hasn't run off for 20 pieces of silver , took on the captaincy, thrust into the headlights and never waivered at a time was in real trouble. Love him, love his spirit and I really hope that he shoves it up a few backsides on here.
