  1. Can't really agree with the above. He hasn't put a foot wrong this year, being our most consistent and reliable defender before jammed into a forward role he didn't want but performed to the best of his ability. Will be a bad loss, but life will go on.
  2. "He'd like to help a team become successful; leadership is a part of what Brent can offer," Kaider said. Yep, Brent's a great leader. Just ask him. He'll tell you.
  3. I'm not doubting for a moment that we'll use Pick 3 for Viney. I'm doubting the efficacy of these "mind games", if that's the point of the comments. There seems to be a real underestimation of the nous of GC & GWS recruiters. Anyhow, see how it pans out. Looking forward to when this is over.
  4. Assuming his quotes cited in the HUN are accurate (a big assumption), I'm not quite sure who he thinks he is... No-one is bigger than the club. No-one. This talk of making us regret not taking him at 3, even if orchestrated, is really daft on his part and whoever is advising him. All in favour of Jack Viney coming to the MFC, but his comments are well out of line.
  5. Jaded - Putting Byrnes on par with Mags? They might share a similar work ethic, but the similarities more or less end there. This bloke has been there and done it. The ship needs turning around and a Shannon Byrnes is exactly the type we need (among many that we need, admittedly). In the words of Big Kev, I'm excited!
  6. I would've gone the meter maid option.
  7. So any bad losses point to a lack of strong culture? I've heard the Swans accused of things in the past, but inconsistency is a new one. If you think it can all be attributed to elite fitness and great coaching that's okay. You can at least agree that this "culture", regardless of your opinion as to the role it plays in their success or even its existence, has been attested to by the playing group. They believe in the club culture and abide by the disciplines it enforces. They are also widely recognised as one of the most successful teams over the past 8-10 years. So whether or not you think it doesn't play a part, the players have bought in and the results are there for all to see. Alot of what we're talking about isn't rocket science. It's a matter of setting standards on and off field, with zero tolerance towards not meeting those standards.
  8. I'd have to be held at gunpoint to watch that [censored] again.
  9. 12 months ago I'd have been alot more excited about this, but to say he's been cod ordinary this year would be paying the guy a compliment. The last type of player we need to be recruiting is a passenger. Christ I hope Neeld knows what he's doing.
  10. See ya Cale.
  11. Besides which, Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable, ..and we've just shown Beamer the door.
  12. Taking the [censored]..? Surely you're not disputing that the more unified the team, the more competitive they become. This largely boils down to the culture of the club.
  13. Still miles ahead of NRL crowds.
  14. Remember when we smashed the Bloods two years ago? Where was their culture then? Hm.. I just had a "wtf happened to us?" moment. Anyhow, they can call their culture whatever the he'll they want. The absolute buy-in from the players is there for all to see. And while we're at it, when was the last time the Swans bottomed out?
  15. The scum were decimated with injuries this year. They were flying up until halfway through the season. Goddard is an elite ball user who brings finals experience. He is a great get and frankly I'd be surprised not to see them make the 8 next year. Saints on the other hand could be about to slide back to a position on the ladder with which they are all too familiar, losing quality veterans like BJ and talented youngsters like Cripps who looks set for the West. Potentially we are looking at a period where the have and have nots become firmly entrenched.
  16. I agree in part, but Wellingham and Pearce wouldn't suit us either? I would beg to differ. The only player we've been remotely linked to is the big Q and he looks all set for black and white. I realise it's premature but I think we have to face the reality that we are not an attractive prospect right now, and pulling a big name seems highly unlikely. When we conned, um, convinced Mitch, we had some results to use as a basis for claims we were a team on the rise. To someone on the outside, the club is a shambles going nowhere. All we have now are bags of cash. The fact Riv is out the door and the ramifications of that for this season is another matter.
  17. I'm trying to ignore the sinking feeling in my stomach after Day 1 of FA... Maybe we should get Mitch on the phone doing the hard sell.
  18. Hard to disagree with old Mike on this occasion. A shocking year in anyone's language. At least this time he doesn't have the opportunity to change his opinion next week, as he almost always does.
  19. Wish I could make it down. Stick it right up em fellas!
  20. On topic, Danger's effort in the final was Boltesque. Never looked troubled. Would've liked to see how Blease went.
  21. It doesn't tell us a great deal in terms of Cale, although I admit it's interesting to see that a Morton is in fact capable of developing something resembling an AFL body.
  22. Jimmy pulls off the young salacious female almost too well.
  23. Impossible to say but considering the year we've just had, I'd have been more than happy with 13 games of the calibre he provided at the Giants. Averaged 5.2 tackles a game, just outside Top 30 in the league. This is all alongside his role as a mentor to the younger players and leaders, WYL. Clearly we disagree, let's leave it at that.
