A great representative of the club also. Was one of a handful of players whose interview snippets were used for the profiles of AFLPA MVP nominees. Other players interviewed were the likes of Petrie, Murphy and Cotchin. He spoke well and showed his understanding of what it takes to be an elite player. For me, he's far and away the best thing to come out of 2012.

That clip always cracks me up without fail. So bizarre, yet so good.

Is it? What's your answer?

Neita deserves consideration, but better than Chris Grant is a huge call. Was effectively a Brownlow medallist and absolute superstar. Played all over the ground and still managed 500+ goals.

Being a Canberra based Demon there is the lure of the charcoal and orange mob who hit the campaign trail hard up here, and many have jumped aboard. The Dees are in my blood though, I'll never ditch them until they cease to exist. Even at its worst (...as in right now?), it's character building.. Goodvibes raises the slightly more pertinent question of whether you'd coerce/encourage your kids to follow Melbourne.

Ah, our very own Melbourne Storm. Nah, sounds too good to be true. He's certainly built this one up, and described it yesterday as "heart wrenching". I reckon your first guess might be on the money.

So much truth and worth posting again. Anyhow, let's hope Eddie's story this Wednesday that is supposed to "blow the footy world apart" is a bit more interesting than this garbage. "Sacked asst coaches looking at their legal options" - stop the presses!!

It takes a while to get used to this place. Fair to say you need a thick skin and preparedness to be shouted down if your opinion is in the minority. But the positives outweigh the negatives. There are alot of very learned footy people here whose opinions I've fast come to respect. In fact I'd say you'd be hard pressed finding another forum with so many in the one place. As for Neeld, plenty of threads on that but I'm trying to stay more reserved in my judgement of him til this time next year. I'm not as convinced as some are on here, but he's making the right noises.

Also agree with sentiments on Jonesy. Should have been light years ahead of second.

Losing Green, Moloney, Rivers and possibly Davey in one hit, in a team already starved of experience...? No-one's too fussed? We sure as hell better be going aggressive at the trade table with a value on maturity as well as skill, or else 2013 could be a spoon year.

Truly shocking news.

With all due respect I think this is fine as long as it used in combination with some of the current crop. Going from current players one year to past players the next..what is that saying about us as a club trying to move forward or the confidence we have in the likes of Jones, Grimes and Clark to take us there? Perhaps I'm overthinking a banner but I'm not a fan of just using past players.
-
Dawes may not be a star but he is also horribly out of form and a much better player than his recent performances would indicate. Are people actually proposing Wellingham for Martin? Collingwood's response would be "keep em comin". Personally I hope we keep Stef as he and Clark as a tall forward combination deserve more of a trial.

Collingwood know their best bet in winning tonight is to play a contested brand of footy. If they allow Hawthorn time and space they will get run over, as would any team. You can't discount the fact that the modern player is much fitter and stronger than in eras gone by, which coupled with rotations means they will inevitably cover more ground and get to more contests. The skillful players still rise to the top, it just tends to be later in the game.

We'd be 10+ goals down by now. The pressure in the first quarter particularly was remarkable.
-
Not me. One of the laziest players I've ever seen don the red and blue.

It has everything to do with the timing as well. The wounds from our latest Perth mauling to end the season have only begun to heal and already it's yet more talk of a change is a comin' and how we've turned a corner. I think we've turned that many corners we've done the full 360. I still shake my head thinking about how our "season starts now" after the Essendon win. Ultimately talk IS cheap. Maybe wait til pre-season at least before talking about being on the rise. Or preferably once you've won a few games. Then I'll be inclined to be less cynical. Until that point I only want to hear acknowledgement of the hard work ahead, of which there is plenty.
-
That's hilarious. He was a tick above rubbish in every Giants game I saw bar one.
-
+1 Heard it all before and this sort of talk has got me fired up in years gone by but not this time.
-
Now if we can just offload Jose. Would fit in well at FlyingHigh..

Welcome to the good life.

haha, I admire your passion bb. If Neeld is the wolf then I guess we have at least 10 red riding hoods.

The "new Melbourne" has a bit of the boy who cried wolf about it.. Money will have to do the talking.

Agree 100%. Putting Jones up as evidence of Neeld's coaching ability is frankly ridiculous. We've just gone through a season with effectively 1 win, which we got by the skin of our teeth in wet weather when the other side failed to show up. Neeld has everything still to do to prove his coaching wares, let's not pretend otherwise.

One is a senior player and self proclaimed leader who blatantly threw his toys out of the cot with insipid performances onfield, and put himself before the club he claims he loves so much. The other is a (relatively) young player who was underutilised and given limited opportunity in one of the most malnourished forwardlines in the league. I'll admit his work ethic needs improvement but a confidence player needs some sort of faith shown in them. From the outside looking in it appears that he's received very little of that under the new FD. I'll be disappointed if he goes and make no apologies for that.
