How long has he been out of the league for? I didn't really like his playing style at the 9ers and thought they got lucky to make it as far as they did with him. No thanks, but not because of his politics. -

That's a huge part of it but for me the disgust comes from the narrative that's been driven ever since the incident first happened. It's the complete whitewashing of the incident, the powerlessness to have your voice heard or do anything about it while the boys club just rolls on. And if course wrapped up in that is the complete lack of thought for the incident from the Brayshaw/MFC perspective. You feel completely marginalised as a club and it's infuriating.

Me too Wayne, I did this over a year ago though. The only media I really engage with now is Demonland pod, Deebrief pod, Junktime pod (a comedy AFL podcast) and occasionally On The Couch, First Crack or 360 and I generally skip through most of those watching on delay to get to the Demons parts. 360 is a mess these days (probably already was) and I hardly watch any of that anymore. It's so much less angst listening to these pompous buffoons manufacture drama and push the AFL narrative. I've disengaged even from watching other games not involving Melbourne, I hardly watched Friday games this year and would check in with scores for other games and maybe catch the last 10 minutes if it was close. It's just not entertaining anymore and the corruption of the league ruins the enjoyment.

Because the clubs ceded control to the AFL. The AFL controls the purse strings for almost all clubs now who are beholden to them. Not to mention "punishment by fixturing".

Not sure but I can't imagine it's great although we still have a number of key players on rookie deals (Wilson, Gardner, Hall in particular).

I don't agree with clint that it's all engineered (I mean seriously is Fritsch in on it and that's why he missed those set shots?) but it's also about eyes on the product. Media engagement and therefore sponsors getting eyes on their ads through the course of the finals, GF ratings numbers etc

The life of a Jets fan. FFS. Garrett Wilson is a freak. Beast Hall first game back from an ACL is a star. Our D is phenomenal. Then our QB goes down 4 minutes into the season because our Oline resembles a bunch of turnstiles. Great to get the win but my enthusiasm for this season just dropped immensely. Can we break the playoffs drought (the longest in all US sports I believe)? Surely we go and grab someone, we can't be relying on Zach Wilson and a practice squad guy. I think we got rid of Flacco and he was useless last year when needed anyway. Could we go after someone like Jameis Winston? Mariota? Who else might be out there? Someone? Anyone????

The AFL could have a chance if they can show they haven't acted negligently. Unfortunately results like this and instances like Port not putting players into concussion protocols (and the AFL not having independent doctors to force them to do so) shows they're not taking their duty of care seriously and opens them up to litigation. It's a ticking time bomb for the AFL.

How long have you been watching footy? Are you happy for us to consistently be the ones being bullied with no recourse? It's happened time and again most notably in the 2000 GF but on other occasions as well. There comes a time where you have to decide you're not going to put up with it anymore. If it comes to it and we meet them in the GF (which I doubt will happen either way) but if it does then we need to have the mindset that we must win by any means necessary. Viney went to the coaches before the 2021 GF wanting to take out a Dog's player at the first bounce which they shutdown. I guess he's just another meathead too though.
Viney, May, Sparrow, Kozzie wouldn't take a backwards step. I reckon Rivers would go alright too, hell if Melksham can stand without falling over suit him up, tell him to run amok for 10 minutes then sub him out. That way he still gets his premiership medal too 😉
It's sickening The AFL can get stuffed, I'm over feeling like I'm pushing [censored] uphill supporting one of the minnow clubs they don't give a stuff about.
We can be satisfied holding ourselves to standards while our opponents revel in success. At least we're nice though hey, winning doesn't matter.

Nah stuff that, it's fair game. It's always been fair game. If we play the Pies in the GF I want to see Viney's elbow in Sidebottom's jaw at the first bounce. Collingwood are cowards, only fight when they have strength of numbers - see Maynard/Sidebottom on Langdon last year, Maxwell et al on Watts in 2008. They've always been like that, it's their culture. Their supporters are no different, they act like hoons because they have numbers, one on one they are just another nuffie.
Y'know if Brayshaw just called in sick on Thursday this whole sorry mess could've been avoided.
He's always been a grub. He doesn't "play on the edge" he's a cheap shot artist. Not a real hard man putting his head over the footy.
