  1. It's proven to be a great trade. I didn't want him but he has stood up immensely since Gawn went down. We paid very little tradewise and Collingwood are paying a portion of his salary. I hope we don't over react and rush Max back on Monday night because the Tigers have no ruckman of note with Nank, Soldo and even Lynch out injured. Grundy can roll again this week and I am confident we will see a response from the whole team.
  2. Well that's outside your control 🤷
  3. Think you missed the point
  4. Of course but physical fatigue is different to mental fatigue. They were off by 5% but that's enough for a team that is on to make you look silly. If you're not mentally switched on then things look hard, last two weeks we've been gang tackling and running hard, today we weren't sticking tackles or running hard both ways. So which is the real Melbourne? The team that ran the Dogs and Swans off their legs or the teams that turned it up against Brisbane and Essendon? We'll have to wait and see.
  5. Yes and no - a trip across the Nullarbor returning late Sunday then off to Adelaide a few days later can throw people's routines off which can in turn impact their mindset. Not using it as an excuse by any means but I can see how it could be a factor. What seemed to happen though is when Essendon upped the ante and showed they were up for a fight and weren't just gonna turn their toes up our guys seemed to throw in the towel and couldn't be bothered. That's not the standard we've come to expect over the last 2 years.
  6. Of course, it comes down to mindset. We've shown that we still don't have the mature/professional mindset to bring our best each week like some of the great teams of recents years. Look at the Geelong side of 07-11 they would turn up to play every single game, bring the right mindset and pummel teams into submission early before easing off later in games once the 4 points had been won. Unfortunately it seems our players still think they can turn up some weeks and just bank 4 points without doing the hard work. The secret is you have to do the hard work every single week from the first bounce if they figure that out they'll be unstoppable.
  7. Yep so many broken tackles ☹️
  8. 100%. We got shown up early, put the foot down for a bit at the start of the 2nd to kick 4 in a row and go a couple up and thought we'd done enough. It's frustrating because you'd think seasoned players would realise you need to step on the opposition's throat until any resistance is snuffed out otherwise you leave yourself open. Credit to Essendon they came to play and came to play 4 quarters. They ran harder, outworked, outsmarted and out toughed us. 2nd wake up call in a month hopefully it's the last one we need 🤔
  9. It comes down to effort. Essendon brought it and we looked like we turned up expecting a regulation win. If we bring effort we'll beat most teams.
  10. Viney tried but he was a lone hand.
  11. Viney 1 Everyone else 0
  12. I thought Petty started in defence
  13. Yep we've played behind all game which is inexcusable but especially in the wet. Lol Essendon can't do anything wrong atm, best game they'll play all year.
  14. That was embarrassing for May.
  15. Bombers have played extremely well, working hard to clog up our forward line and then pushing hard the other way when they win possession. We haven't gone with them and made it easy with the slow ball movement. It happens, let's see the response.
  16. And if we play him people have a go for playing underdone players and not resting them. Can't win.
  17. Bombers have been hungrier.
  18. And he has history so no benefit of the doubt from the umps.
  19. That was the first game I took my oldest son to. An inauspicious debut.
  20. You bring Sexton on with fresh legs and leave him in the forward pocket where the ball isn't getting to. Put him around the footy Dew you nuffie! We sure lucked out with the Swans blocking him from coming to the Demons.
  21. Worse than the Cleveland Browns
  22. Game on?
  23. Suns have run out of legs. Had the opportunity to put the knife in when they were up by 4 goals in the 3rd and let the Dockers off with poor goalkicking.
