  1. If permanent psychological scarring is a qualifier for best then sure. My son will be haunted by that game just like I'm haunted by 92 ANZAC Day v Essendon and 186/148.
  2. Just use Hells Bells/Enter Sandman (other songs? By Demons Be Driven or any other satanic music) whatever we choose for the run through the banner/warmup and keep GOF for after the final siren when we win.
  3. The mark of a great midfielder is being able to kick goals. In the modern game it's a must. Oliver was a very creative player, contested beast, great with his hands. But his general kicking and inability to hit the scoreboard has him a level below those guys. Dusty and Bont are easily a level above Oliver nevermind guys like Ablett, Judd etc Only a one eyed Melbourne supporter would even consider the comparison.
  4. Oliver was nowhere near their level, give me a break.
  5. You'll come round eventually 😉
  6. If dazn baulks at the price Stan will come knocking I think.
  7. Regardless of the moves, I already wanted to see the Suns and Giants have some success. Better than Hawks, Cats, Lions, Pies etc If the Suns win a flag I wouldn't begrudge Petracca getting another medal. If the Giants win one I hope Oliver doesn't get one.
  8. Academies work against one of the key pillars of equalisation ie the draft. AFL no longer cares about equalisation, they care about revenue and expansion. The game is cooked.
  9. Great album, very 70s vibe https://open.spotify.com/album/0svSY4AxaBPQi2337yEd3W?si=PlxfUOJITXOMhHvHaf-Tlw Also been listening to this one a bit recently https://open.spotify.com/album/5TBVuPP8aCyboChzA0pOgy?si=wbbhshy7RGySzK-DJM63bg

  11. It's got nothing to do with the fans. It's all about the tv networks.
  12. Macca I've been harping on about this for 10-15 years now! There are too many players on the field, it's not 1905 anymore with 18 part timers who don't leave their area of the ground, 36 players running up and down all day and coming off for rests after 7 minutes of burst play is ridiculous. It should reduce to 16 as a minimum, I wouldn't be against at least considering reducing it to 15 or 14. I know coaches will try and just drop players back into defence to clog up the Oppo forward line and score on fast break like soccer but that is happening anyway. The main benefit of reduced players is that zone defence becomes less effective as the zone is stretched more allowing accurate kicks to pick through the defence easier. So it forces defenders to go more man on man which is one of the main things missing in the modern game for mine. The congestion in the modern game means there is far less space for players to work in and hence far less instances of individual brilliance compared to previous decades. Just look at this year's goal of the year nominations for an example of how bland the game has become. I agree with your other point about the interpretation of the shrug as well. I thought there was already a rule about a player ducking into a tackle (which isn't adjudicated properly). How is adding another layer of subjectivity in going to help things? Adjudicate the current rules properly and you won't need to keep adding more to fix things.
  13. Nah, defenders should just man up so they can't chip it for another 30 second shot. If you have possession of the ball you have the right to wind the clock down.
  14. This is where the rule falls down, more subjective interpretation for the umpires to decide on. Just make it last disposal, if it goes out and you couldn't get to it because the opposition is shepherding it, bad luck.
  15. All fair points but I don't think we would've looked to move Petracca on if he didn't want out. That was my point, different situation to Oliver.
  16. Personally, I would've preferred Petracca over the 3x1s all things being equal but that's based on the apparent quality (or lack thereof) of this years draft crop. Last year I would've taken it and run as the top 10 last year was an outstanding crop.
  17. And they're not allowed to engage the members via other forums or directly via email so what hope do they have?
  18. Probably, would be an extremely bad look for the AFL though.
  19. Tasmania would be absolute morons to acquiesce to the AFL.
  20. Oliver was moved for off field reasons. Petracca wanted out, we would've kept him otherwise.

  22. Sure, but when you're boring and getting cut up every week it's a receipt for disaster and supporter and player disengagement.
  23. Langford had a great debut season, if he can build on that to become more damaging and more consistent I feel like he can fill the void left by Petracca in a couple of years. I'm hoping Lindsay will grow into his role as well, another very good debut season off the back of a limited preseason as well. A lot is riding on these two over the next few years, in tandem with Kozzie they should become a quality midfield unit.
