  1. The fact he mentioned it says that they'd rather have a proper bye than not. There's a reason the bye is there.
  2. And no proper bye for the 2nd year in a row (as Selwyn mentioned on the Demonland podcast).
  3. I once missed out on $700 because Sam Blease kicked a goal from the boundary in the dying seconds against the Pies in Queens Birthday which meant we covered the 40 odd point line. So we got done by 7 goals and I was out of pocket $700. I never forgave Blease for that 🤣
  4. Gotta bump up that word count 🤣
  5. Wait until the next tv rights deal (starting next year?) when Fox/Kayo are allowed to provide their own commentators for ALL games - we'll never have to listen to BT, Jobe, Lingy, McLachlan and the rest of those nuffies again (except for the GF and hopefully we'll all be at the G and can watch the replays with the radio commentary 🤣)
  6. Does anyone even know who the score reviewers are? They've never explained who it is making these decisions, are they actually umpires/officials? No one knows. Having said that I think it was a point.
  7. We've had some big wins, particularly in 2018. I'd like to see a ruthless edge too but if we get a handy early lead, cruise and then pike on a few late ones to win by 40+ I won't complain. Just get the win (no injuries/reports of course) and worry about the rest afterwards.
  8. Garry Lyon 94 SF v Footscray? Neitz kicked 9 a couple of times I think (and Farmer vs Pies) but no double figures since Gazza.
  9. I never liked Titus, gave me the feeling of a collaborator in Vichy France. As Demons supporters it's OK to have wallowed in our misery together but to make us the butt of jokes to outsiders is a betrayal.
  10. Both against North!
  11. He shouldn't play again if he knows what's good for him.
  12. I don't normally laugh at injuries and I don't know if the backflip caused it but it's still funny
  13. I reckon Collingwood were shorter to beat us in 2010 (we were paying $15) and we would have won if Ricky Petterd held on to the mark in the goalsquare in the dying seconds.
  14. Yes I'm not sure and should clarify, I'm not insinuating it was.
  15. I hate west coast, probably my 3rd most hated team. Chris Lewis biting Todd Viney was a dog act but he copped so much during his career I'm willing to forgive.
  16. Yep we should belt them but remember this time last year West coast played the Pies at Docklands with a WAFL squad and did the number on them. Can't take any game lightly and hopefully we display our ruthless edge this week.
  17. One of the other influences is the old zoning areas. Before the draft was introduced in the late 80s each club had an allocated metro zone and a country zone. I grew up in the north east suburbs which was a Collingwood zone and there was large support for the Pies out there. Even in country areas there was large support for the clubs who zoned players from those leagues, for example Fitzroy had decent support in western Victoria because of it. I think the zones came in in the late 50s or 60s. Now I live in the north west suburbs and it is a real mix although Essendon and Footscray (Bulldogs) are heavily supported. There are quite a few Demons out this way too though, demographics have changed so it is more a mix now than ever before as people move from one side of town to the other. The biggest factor remains who their parents supported.
  18. Yep they've also knocked us out of finals 4 times so every chance we get to sink the boot in should be relished.
  19. Perhaps. We also lost to Sydney, Collingwood (x2) and Geelong during the season before those injuries took hold. We had been fading in games all year and didn't cope with the faster ball movement teams. Our defense was solid but our forward line was lacking and couldn't take advantage of our midfield dominance in many games.
  20. Because they draft who they want then get the others via go home factor a year or two later (Horne-Francis, Rankine, Jackson etc)
  21. From the point where they got to within 6 pts late in the 3rd we piled on 11 goals - I assume that's what they're referring to.
  22. Petty up forward was a great decision. I'd been calling for it without thinking there was any chance it would happen, especially when Tomlinson was dropped. Makes us look so much more dangerous with another mobile marking forward up there.
