  1. I've seen "inept" appear a few times here. I am not entirely sure Clark would have made much difference tonight. A few reasons. 1. Many of our inside 50s were to 1-on-2 contests where Port easily got it out 2. When we did get it to our "talls" (Green and Rivers, LOL), there was absolutely no one roving. No one. 3. Our delivery 70% of the time was awful Inept is really the perfect word. They were simply awful tonight. Really, really bad. I am not sure Clark would have turned things around. It might have been a different outcome, but Port wanted that game more. We lack the poise, and certainly just the brains. Honestly, this team is about 3-4 years off the mark. How we managed 8 wins last year, seriously is beyond me. Time to ask serious questions about Neeld.
  2. I don't see how wanting someone to be removed is an agenda *shrugs* I'm not in favour of getting rid of Neeld, but some serious scrutiny should be placed on the coach after this week's loss. Serious questions.
  3. The general underrating of Mark Jamar is beyond me. He is a genuine tap ruckman that demands body contact and can tap the ball to midfielders...pending he has midfielders that know how to position themselves and are always at contests, of which Melbourne currently doesn't quite have (Jones can't do it alone, Blease is very unfit). You don't trade away a guy like Mark.
  4. I totally agree, but I'm beyond being angry about it and at least want to see a dip. I'm seeing it now, and can look forward to next season.
  5. No chance. If just one of Watts, Clark, Jurrah, Jamar were playing and played the full game, we might have won. Lacked poise at the end.
  6. I bet you all missed Morton today. His dash could have helped today.
  7. I've watched plenty of games this year. The club is a long way off. At the end of the day are you going to end up with a midfielder that's really worth the price? It's so hard to have a hand at a premier tall forward, and we could potentially have 2, for a long time, while we develop other areas. I get that we need a midfielder, but I don't understand the logic on passing on the opportunity to have two tall forwards very capable of kick 2+ goals per game. I don't see issues in continuing to develop our midfield as we are. It's our worst area but it's also our most demanding. You're all taking 2 steps forward with your thoughts, but then going 3 steps back when you try to explain the logic on passing on Cloke for "good midfielders". We're not winning a flag tomorrow.
  8. Don't be so harsh. The team do a good job considering imo. It's a lot of on-the-run-grab kind of stuff, which is pretty cool. It's befitting of the footy club environment. Newspapers make errors all the time. Even the wannabe-intellectual Crikey.com.au has its fair share of them.
  9. Why is this game at Etihad? 1 game at the MCG all weekend...on Saturday night. A Friday night or Sunday arvo game would have made sense.
  10. He'd be no worse than Blease. I could see him getting roughed up, especially considering so many coaches atm probably played his dad in the 90s and felt his grunt. But he'll be better for it, rather like a kid like Blease who sadly seems like he doesn't know how to tackle. I'm still keen on Blease, but once he is tackled hard, game over. Do it.
  11. Jamar was no better at the same age. He's raw, and needs another 2-3 years of development before he's performing at AFL level. He'll be OK.
  12. I just continue to struggle to understand why there can't be a specific period of time open for player signing and contact. It should be banned outright during the season. It seems like the AFLPA is holding the AFL to ransom. [censored] like this smells union. Does in the NRL as well. Hopefully this can see a change and give the league some power in this case. Mid-season contacting and verbal contracts is hurting the game.
  13. I wonder if people know of the significance of having a guy called "T-Mac" in your team.
  14. Definitely. I am also more positive. There still remain concerns: major brain farts happening in the back half that even teams like GWS are going to punish you for. Best way to counter these are I guess to respond on the other end, which the team did yesterday.
  15. I found two membership cards on the floor outside Laurent coffee shop belonging to "Kieran Baxter" One card is a Young Demons 15 membership, the other a Cheersquad Membership, both belonding to young Baxter.
  16. Hey Sheeds,
  17. Yay! More Morton hate! Moloney, Jamar and Green both let us down enormously when we had a chance to bring it within 18 points. At least Morton contributed. We should smash them on Sunday.
  18. It makes me sick when people say that "booing" is against the spirit of the game. Football is competitive, bordering elitist, and people need to accept that. "Booing" is what you do in an attempt to jeer and mock the opposition. It goes hand-in-hand with "barracking", and should be a compulsory act from every Melbourne fan there on the day.
  19. I've never been to the snow.
  20. I won't accept anything less than a 4-5 goal win.
  21. We certainly haven't gotten the better of the deal. We never would have. Scully is already an established player and will be top-tier midfield. With draft picks it's an assumption that the player will be good. Scully is good, he's just inexperienced. We got an OK deal, but GWS ended up with the player we wanted. Now we have to start from scratch. Still, we got lucky with the picks. But to say we got the better end of the deal is assuming Melbourne will end up with better players. Time to stop being blind Melbourne fans and be a little more realistic. Melbourne now has a lot of pressure to delivery at the draft table for a second time, because it already did once with Scully, which is indicative in the salary GWS offered him. I am optimistic they can, but it's not as simple as waving a magic wand and getting an awesome player. Cale Morton proves that. We got the raw end of the stick because we parted ways with someone we knew had the goods, and replaced him with draft picks that are, at this point, intangible, and realistically couldn't be considered tangible until the drafted players are contributing, at least in the capacity that Scully did. That's not "getting better of the trade". I am still filthy that we lost Scully, if you can't half tell. The guy is exactly what our midfield needs right now.

    It's Time!

I love the idea in theory, but I'm not sure the velvet fog is the best way to execute it. I think the club could make a higher quality, perfect, error-free rendition of the Grand Old Flag over the speakers, very faintly leading into the opening bounce. I really like the club's intentions to lay traditional foundations at the club, but people would probably enjoy the trumpet more if he'd arrive at the club, at say, any time BEFORE 2008! I am happy for him to stick around until the club starts winning, but it sucks for him that he started doing it right as the club started losing. I certainly see more ties to Demons traditions, and stronger ties with the MCG, which is awesome.
  23. Jolly smashed him and really let Jamar have it. Jamar was ahead of Jolly when they were both at Melbourne. Seems like Jolly got out on top.
