  1. The commentary from players lately has been more of "we'll get better" rather than the "we're hurting too" stuff we heard from Robbo back in the Daniehr years. It's less patrionising, acknowledging of poor form. Also, take a look at the AFL website today. 4-5 articles about Melbourne. Great for the brand. We are in the media so much lately. Imagine once we start winning.
  2. Avoiding reality seems to define Melbourne supporters if the Facebook Melbourne groups I'm on are anything to go by. The amount of "stay positive" and "get off the boys' backs" posts is actually quite frustrating to read.
  3. If we lose to GWS or GC, the pressure will be on. As long as Gablett is at GC, they have a very good chance against us. They are well ahead of us imo. Well ahead.
  4. I used to. Growing up in the North around Carlton and Collingwood supporters wasn't nice. Only 1 other Dees supporter in my year level in primary school, maybe 4-5 in High School. Our supporter base is very fickle. Someone started a thread earlier this year (praha I think it was) bringing attention to our membership numbers, social media figures, in which we are well down the bottom with minimal, if any growth year-on-year.
  5. Just lost to Richmond by 10 goals. We are playing badly. There's being positive, and then there's being a delusional halfwit.
  6. Yeah, "man up" to me is "stop allowing the opposition to get so many uncontested possessions". If each player is accountable, not necessarily "on" a player, then the opposition won't have as many more uncontested possesions as Richmond did today.

    Game Day

But you realise why the press conference was positive, right? You don't walk into the MFC and be so negative. The establishment won't stand for it. Neeld can't come out and do a Blighty on the players. The club won't stand for it. Part of the reason why standards are so low and fans are so fickle. Very little accountability. We'll never win a flag. It's just the club in general.
  8. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/teams/jack-of-all-trades-master-of-one/story-e6frf9mf-1111118040916 "We didn't waste him, but if you played him at centre half-forward or full-forward, he just ruined the game. "So we thought we'd put him on a wing and give 17 other kids the chance to be part of the game. "After the first half on the wing, he was easily best on ground, easily."
  9. Contact the club. The logo should be removed.
  10. Because if you focus on the positives and ignore the negatives, you end up going 50 years without a flag. Positives can be expanded on, but negatives need to be addressed and turned into positives. I admire your optimism and ability to find positives, though. Neeld did it for the good for the playing group. Fans seem to be doing it now for their own sake. Plenty of positives, but hey, we lost by 100 points. inb4"stopbeingnegative"
  11. Can't say I agree. There were improvements, but fundamental aspects of team play still lack. They also lost by 100 points. They were truly awful. I'm not falling for Neeld's positivity, because I know he is trying to set the tone in the media for the players, who have had a tough week. That's fair enough and I understand that. But as supporters we shouldn't be so naive as to truly highlight the positives, without focusing on the negatives. You can't fix something if you don't acknowledge.
  12. I think Eddie's pro-Melbourne sentiment yesterday is more indicative of good PR than it is of good ol' patrionising Eddie just making a mockery of the club. I think after some particular anti-Melbourne rhetoric ("This isn't Melbourne where you can just come in and take out players"), Collingwood media team probably told him to tone down the patrionising negativity towards the club. I believe he's genuine. I don't think anyone likes seeing this club being consistently awful.
  13. Wouldn't be surprised if he went.
  14. Well, no, but it seems like a silly time to write it, unless he was *gasp* fishing for internet hits. Maybe? Perhaps.
  15. There truly is nothing sadder, more depressing than seeing people ask for an admirable 100+ point loss. To not ask for a win, but at least a little effort in defeat is sad, sad stuff. If they're going to lose by 100 points, there's no doubt about it: the team is [censored]. I want to see a win and nothing more. But I won't see that, because we are truly wooden spoon material. Eagles by 87.
  16. http://au.sports.yahoo.com/afl/opinions/show/3153864/dennis-cometti-demons-recruiting-is-woeful/?cmp=fb You can always blame the players. But are they really that good to begin with? It comes back to the people that chose them and Melbourne seem to consistently pick the same type of player; weak reeds like Jack Watts and Cale Morton. It's a very bland group of players that they have right now, and it comes back to recruiting. And the recruiting has been shocking. Here comes the bandwagon of hate!
  17. I don't believe any of what we're hearing. 1. I don't believe the club is racist. I think our openness and acceptance of Indigenous players in the past is and always has been one of the best in the league. 2. I do, however, believe there is a possibility that there was a leak from within the club, in response to consistent rhetoric regarding the stern approach by Neeld. 3. This originally led me to believe that it might have been Davey, out of frustration at essentially being told his time at the club would most likely end at the end of 2012. 4. I still believe it was a player at the club. 5. I wouldn't be surprised if the AFL was pushing Mifsud to admit he spread the rumour, to end any speculation. 6. The media doesn't seem to want to let it go, which makes me believe even more that it was a player. Even without all of this, I think it's quite obvious that the rumour started from within the club. It seems like a far too serious thing to just come out of no where. Even though it's not true, it certainly seems to fit in with queries regarding Neeld's aggressive and no-excuses approach, which may have had a negative affect on some (probably senior) players (as we've heard rumours about), and caused the wrong words to come out. Maybe what was said was taken out of context, or the tone was misinterpreted, but I don't believe for a second that the source isn't a Melbourne player.
  18. I get more and more frustrated at Schwaby's appearance on Demonland a week or so ago by the day. I mean, this guy has the nerve to say that he's happy none of us are taking care of getting sponsors...meanwhile he himself can't get a FOJ sponsor?
  19. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  20. I don't think Beamer is smart enough to consciously refer to the coach in the third-person. If anything he's probably doing it unconsciously because he's so scared of him.
  21. I'm sorry, and I'll accept the ban if it comes, but... What a [censored] rabble.
  22. You'll find a number of 60+ point wins between those two points, and the same number of 60+ point losses. We were probably a finals side this year had the team not exploded against Geelong. What pushed the players to not care so openly and obviously essentially cost the man his job. We played some great football last year, and some absolutely horrendous football. I can't remember a team that has been so far ahead and so far behind at the same time. I think we were 3rd or 4th in average winning margin. It was there, but I feel it's been lost now. The club truly is a shambles.
  23. I've been using the term "dumb football" ever since last season. I don't think I'd ever used it beforehand. Really, really dumb football. It defined us last season.
