  1. Crown fed the entire South Melbourne precinct with investment. Without it, it might still be a wasteland. Love or hate gambling and the casino, it has transformed our city for the better.
  2. I'm okay with giving Jefferson another chance but I get Michael Evans vibes from him. Does well at Casey but then little at AFL level, borderline liability. I am all for giving him 4 weeks but his performance at AFL gets so useless it's hard to justify his placement. Though I suspect he will be given 2-4 weeks.
  3. True, but at least there is something there. We are looking for money to build something from the ground up... surely it would have been good to have some foundations in place... and cheaper to improve upon?
  4. Under Goodwin we are either miles ahead it or miles off it. No in between. We have struggled in close games the past decade. This game seemed to have shades of the 2023 finals series.
  5. I'm enjoying a much needed break from the hustle and hustle in Melbourne, visiting family in the French and Swiss Alps over the next three weeks. The game starts at 7:30am here. I have never in my life felt less motivated to watch a game of football. I am quite looking forward to not watching it. It is seriously liberating to be in a place where it's so easy to break away from your own routine. I really look forward to reading through this thread, the game day and post game threads when I wake up at about 10am local time on Monday morning. I know absolutely no one cares about this but I have badly needed this trip from work and life, and after a week it has already highlighted how important it is to give your brain a break. Footy is just too much a part of my life to not be included in that "break" and so I have promised myself to just switch off and check in post-match. I am hoping for a win but I am not letting myself get worked up or too invested. I am also meeting an old friend in Geneva for dinner on Sunday evening so there is a good chance I will be mildly hungover to such a degree as to be physically unable to wake up at 7am to watch the game so there is also that...
  6. Normalise context.
  7. 3.2 to 2.6 this quarter. After they started 6.2 at the same end. Could get ugly in the third.
  8. I completely bloody forgot he played.
  9. Dillon is shaping out to be a real poor pick for CEO. CEOs seem to average 4-6 years at most companies. AFL tends to last longer but I can't seem him going the distance beyond 4 years.
  10. Lever is listed on the ground but isn't listed as an "in". I'm confused. Shouldn't be listed as an inclusion?
  11. Sydney is very lucky that wasn't a 20+ goal belting. They were equally as bad as we were good
  12. Game on.
  13. Sydney is tempting us to absolutely tear this game open. Need to start converting.
  14. Lol these post-goal songs.
  15. Gee Heeney is good
  16. Lever mismatch so far.
  17. The ball is bouncing weirdly for both teams.
  18. Fritsch was all alone with no one behind or ahead of him, 30 metres out. Hardly selfish. People need to give him a break.
  19. Like the city itself, it's all a ruse.
  20. Less than 40k would be disappointing.
  21. North has won 17 games in 5 and a half seasons. Never won more than 5 games in a season this decade. Boy we were bad in the early 2010s. But we showed ongoing progress under Roos. North has improved this year but the benchmark is so low. They haven't gotten the return from Clarkson yet. Unless the turn the corner in the second half of the year. Anything less than 6 wins is surely a failure.
  22. GC and GWS always get stringers from opposing supporters depending on who is playing. I reckon there would have been a few Pies supporters in that GWS cheersquad today
  23. Carlton has always been a club of wannabes. Were only ever good because they had the money back in the no salary-cap days. And benefited from awesome zoning. As soon as that was taken away from them they've slowly fallen down to reality as a club of wannabes. Even when they won in the 80s and 90s they only did because of brown paper bags.
  24. I don't hate the fact that they're so mid but far out Carlton are frustrating to watch. They remind me of 2015-2016 Melbourne. So close yet so far at the same time. And they've been like that for like 12 years except for 2 somewhat okay years.
  25. Sydney supporters are just Melbourne supporters from temu.
