  1. Noticed that myself UTAH, and also that he was worked on in the huddle at both of the minor breaks. So much for the keyboard heroes on another thread who wanted him turned back at the interchange bench - if he was a little tight, sounds like what we saw might have been the correct thing to do in the circumstances.
  2. Big call, big call. Feel free to add to the feeding frenzy if you affirmatively know that he went off to have his hair combed or whatever other mickey mouse reason. If not, it would be more appropriate to stfu.
  3. Wasn't this the highly publicised one where Brian Wilson gave the finger to the Eagles crowd as he came off arm-in-arm with several team-mates, arguably giving the Eagles ammo for the return bout a couple of weeks later? Dumb.
  4. Yeah, but as long as it's for us. Yep.
  5. Agree. It's fallen out of use in footy circles after having a certain fashion in the Neeld era.
  6. Good story. Reminds me that he and Jordie McKenzie attended a community get-together in our suburb not far from the G on a Sunday afternoon in November a couple of years ago. We approached Richmond first and they wouldn't be in it, but Melbourne offered Col and Jordie. They were both terrific, and Col was very engaging with everyone, esp the kids. Didn't stop me growling to myself in the grandstands about his footy over the journey, but good on him for his contribution to our festival on his day off.
  7. Nicely seasonal, Blue. Care to nominate which Messiah the fans will be getting ready to crucify by the time the last quarter rolls around?
  8. I loved these games, and the other close ones between these teams over a period then. Tough, committed contested footy. Bring it on at our club.
  9. Hey Nineteen (just wanted to say that…), Well done, and are you still on the lookout for new helpers to assist?
  10. Saty was looking a bit dishevelled, but the rest of us would have passed muster, I reckon.
  11. Agree, Red. And if we don't offer those qualities, it makes it more difficult to keep/attract quality players. Particularly in this professional era players are looking to be part of high quality organisations who can offer them the opportunity to fully develop their talents and achieve team success. It's a virtuous circle that we have not been part of for a long time. Hopefully we are pulling ourselves up by our own boot straps, and can give this current group the opportunity to succeed at our club.
  12. Patrick Smith says hi.
  13. Tis indeed. And he can at least reminisce with Hodge and Selwood about what it feels like to have a premiership medal, unlike the other party boys shown.
  14. Scoop - you could probably add G. Lovett to that list. Just when he had turned himself into a damaging player his effectiveness was severely cut back with recurring injuries.
  15. NIce job of multi-skilling, though. I'm still having trouble chewing gum while I'm walking.
  16. I noted the stronger physique he's sporting this year, esp in the upper body. Definitely a stronger looking unit than in previous seasons.

A question: was that Craig Hutchison (the famed "Hutchy") out on the ground patting Kurt Warner on the back as he carried the Vince Lombardi Trophy through the milling Patriots? If not, his doppelgänger.
  18. This. The hallmark of a good midfielder is that they are "good in heavy traffic". Don't know why more posters can't be the same - take Saty's reports for the good info they provide, and skip over what they don't like about his fanboy/poster baiting mode. Maybe concentrate on the sausage not the sizzle, the doughnut not the hole…... Thumbs up for the good info you add, Saty.
  19. Well said, Howey... http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-11-05/maia-made-a-genuine-impact-howe
  20. I saw a bunch of them around 10.30 this morning at the bottom of Anderson St hill as I rode by, and they were looking as though they were about to embark on some Tan action. Interestingly, in light of the delisting news, I thought I saw Tappy there among them.
  21. Jack - terrific recap of the 64 season. Did you get to the G early enough on GF day (9.15 start) to see the Demons lift another premiership at Collingwood's expense in the U19's, with Next Big Thing, Ken Jungwirth, kicking 5 for the Red and Blue? Our future seemed unlimited by the end of that afternoon.
  22. The day after his premiership-winning father had died unexpectedly? And also the day when an uber-enthusiastic Brad Miller laid a tackle on one of his team-mates?
  23. Well said, Red.
