THE MOST AWESOME POST MATCH THREAD EVER!!!
buck_nekkid replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rioli is a dirty, ball licking dog. an absolute buzz to witness that. So many who did what needed to be done. on the way to the ground I knew every 50/50 would go against us. We are the lowly Dees and they are the triple 'do no wrong' Hawks. And apparently Cyril is 'spaahesshaaaal'. Proven right on this one! so pleased for the boys. The future starts here. -

If we win, I will donate 1000 days of water to a needy community in Africa. -
A good marketing ploy by the club. last home game, so a good time to debut a potential new star. give him a taste of the big stuff this year, with low expectations of outcome. A few games, and he can go back and work on things he learns. hopefully the forward line protect him and get around him when he kicks his first.
-
Was an 02 number. Definitely a telemarketer. Said all of the $129 went to the club. However, had the email address I use for the club, so suggests my details were given by the club for this program. Would welcome any other info, though.
-
Tonight I received a telemarketing call from the club. Wanted $129 for $350 pack. Light on detail. I had no time to hear the bigger pitch. Anyone else get this, or know the details?

Will probably get howled down, but here goes: out:. Garlett. In BenKen out: Vince. In:. Clarry out: Harmes. In: Terlich Out: Hogan (if inj),. In Spencer. (Gawn to spend more time forward)

From a structure point of view, we also suck the big ones at managing contested ball scenarios inside our front 30. We must be the worst for this (also, are we the worst at defending this at the other end?). Opposition teams seem to be able to get the sneaky kick in (GCx3 yesterday) and get goals from inside 30 contests. We can't find anything, and usually just cough it up. For me, this is a structural issue. Rather than playing 36 stacks on the mill. We need a better system. Opposition teams are completely onto the tap over the back to Viney running through. We set up poorly around these forward contests and get little reward when there. we also need Garlett and the other small forwards to earn their money in these moments. It feels like we have zero 'x factor'.

One of the worst games of football I have watched in a long time. our ability to execute basic skills, even with no pressure, was unacceptable. We relied on individual efforts to bust us out of our stupidity all over the ground, for the whole game. we looked slow and disinterested for 80% of the game. our ability to enter 50 has to be the worst in the competition. Over and over we would kick to a 3 on 1, or a Suns player by themselves. Zero intellect applied to getting into a scoring position. the game plan was there, we were too crap to execute it. will take the 4 points, but couldn't sing the song. Need a big turnaround or we will be smashed next week.

Salem playing in the firsts today? how did JKH and King go?

Clayton Oliver bitten by some VFL spud.
buck_nekkid replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
When should we expect a formal citing, if it comes? do we expect the club to get proactive if it is not cited? thos loser needs to be dealt with. -
Why are you worried about Wiederman? First year on a list, started back a fair way. Has shown plenty early. From the reports, is held in good regard but also given clear development goals and targets. i think he is not 'Lucas Cook'. May not get a game this year, but another pre season, some strength and skill development, and I think there is enormous upside. Looks like he has a lot of talent. playing with Smith and Hulett in that forward line, there is a lot of competition for the big man role. Hulett is probably in front of him, but that is OK. He has time. Don't cut his lunch quite yet.
-
Roos said Oliver struggles to run out games as a first year player, which will stand against him. Spencer hurt his knee in the VFL, so will need to see how he pulls up. Pedo a possibility, and I would love to see Hulett on a forward flank. suspect OMac may be injured, given what we saw, so may be out. otherwise, they played with great effort. Probably only injury induced changes.

For me, the defensive set up playing a sweeper back was (finally!) a huge positive. Petracca really showed strength, power and vision today. Maxy Gawn rules the air. Our locking the ball in to our forward line was awesome the way we cut angles to break the web was superb on the negative side, our goal kicking was appalling. our delivery into 50 was crap. the turnovers directly,to,opposition players was so costly (TMac x 3!) So, a lot to like, but I HATE losing.

Jack Watts signs for three years (21/7/16)
buck_nekkid replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
When he signs, it will be great news -
last time they cut us up because they outran and outspread us, making it impossible for the defense to drop back and do its job. We need big two way runners if we are going to win this one. We need to make lots of contests, and slow down their ball movement. Otherwise they will spread and waltz around us like the witches hats of old. We could nearly go in unchanged. It would just be the injuries to Oscar and Bernie that need monitoring, and if someone doesn't pull up. Without a Casey game, it was hard for anyone outside the team to really push for selection.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15

Grimes and Michie in the 'ins' for the last 3 rounds. Wonder if they will actually play? -
Anyone get to training and can comment on how the group looked, who was doing what? It would be appreciated!

Some points from today: Sydney had a class and hardness advantage that showed up in the wet. We fumbled and bumbled, and they smashed us with intensity. Tale of 2nd vs 10th, and where our teams are at. Simply too many errors. Their ability to defend in their back 50 outdid our ability to find a target or have clean possession. it was one extended contest. Glad there is a bye next week Tony Shaw is a [censored].

KC, You do an awesome job each week keeping us updated, which I really appreciate. Hope someone else at the ground can share the scores and thoughts today.

Changes for next week v Swans
buck_nekkid replied to Bombay Airconditioning's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought there were some really valuable performances that slipped under most radars - VDB and Stretch (a few telling quality possessions just in front of where I was sitting) to name a few. Roos said 'no passengers', and it looked that way on the day. For mine, barring injury and load issues, I would leave the side unchanged. The only issue may be the weather, in which case we might be looking at swapping out a tall for a small. Newton, ANB or Grimes would be the most likely. White would need to be upgraded from the rookie list, and I don't see any pressure for us to do so at this stage. Dawes stays in, probably OMac first tall out. -
Applying FORWARD PRESSURE. Not for us please..
buck_nekkid replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
They had twice as many marks as us. Mark = no tackle. When we allowed disputed ball through poor kicking or marking skills, they could tackle. When they passed cleanly between backs, we had less opportunities. They were cleaner and better organised in their back half, which reduced the possibility of tackles in our forward half. Thought we created lots of contests in their forward 50 in the middle part of the game. spoiling marks really well. Lots of disputed ball and lots of tackle opportunities in their front 50. Also, Rioli got about 8 tackles in 10 minutes at the start of the 4th quarter, I think, playing on the ball - so these stats may be skewed by that as well. However, it is a disgraceful stat for the forward group however you slice it up...
