  1. Plapp's report highlighted Michies disposal effectiveness for Casey last week.
  2. Jeez, this one comment set this thread off. Who was it, what was their source, and how do we know it is even accurate? many here are already trying to map out the trade. Perhaps, if likely, it needs its own thread? loving the pressure that success at both levels is creating on players. Creating the habit of winning, building something special for Casey and Melbourne. Go Scorps, Go Dees!
  3. Kent- stupid costly errors. by my count, directly assisted 3 of their goals
  4. Apparently he loves it. Which makes him a Pedo phile (boom Tish!)
  5. I look forward to the day when our 'superstars' are untouchables and get the 50-50s their way. Cyril is a dirty, ball licking dog. He also has flashes of brilliance. I bet every hawk fan adores him. He pushes the line and gets away with heaps - big hits, spear tackles, iffy frees. the Hawks are so used to the umps being orally attached to their trouser appendages that Sam Mitchell whinges like a be-atch when things don't go his way. (Oh, and nice girly slap, Sam! I bet the tribunal laughed at you instead of giving you a penalty...) Tide is turning. Our turn will come.
  6. Dare to dream. I see it a bit differently. yesterday was the 'turning point' for a future that looks beautiful. I remember when Geelong turned their corner, they simply changed gears. Bomber Thompson went from pariah to a hero in a few weeks. I think this game will be our turning point. We might not win everything, but we might now play like a team that believes.... if we 'luck in' to the finals, OK. But it is not what the end of this season is really about. We have all these young guys who stil struggle to run out full games (Oliver, Wiederman, Dawes....), (Dawes was a joke, don't beat me up for it!) we play the last games like a team that has learned the effort and strategies that can give us outcomes. We set benchmarks of what is now unacceptable. We keep practicing taking the game on. The results will come. i want this to pay off from next season. Another preseason, then take no prisoners. Stop being beaten by hacks like St kilda. It's our turn. Our time is now we simply gave away too much in the earlier part of the year to make the finals this year
  7. If the ball has already passed overhead, and Gibson makes inadvertent but legal contact, then no free kick. If he makes illegal contact (tunneling, high or whatever, then it's a free. Don't know what the umpire saw, or was thinking. However, if we call it 50/50, then the count would be about 11:1 for 50/50 free kicks awarded.
  8. How sweet it is. Bit seedy this morning. Think when we win a flag I'm going to be wrecked for a month! and if you need a reminder.....
  9. Rioli is a dirty, ball licking dog. an absolute buzz to witness that. So many who did what needed to be done. on the way to the ground I knew every 50/50 would go against us. We are the lowly Dees and they are the triple 'do no wrong' Hawks. And apparently Cyril is 'spaahesshaaaal'. Proven right on this one! so pleased for the boys. The future starts here.
  10. I do my giving through B1G1:https://www.b1g1.com/view-all-project but will check out your suggestion
  11. If we win, I will donate 1000 days of water to a needy community in Africa.
  12. A good marketing ploy by the club. last home game, so a good time to debut a potential new star. give him a taste of the big stuff this year, with low expectations of outcome. A few games, and he can go back and work on things he learns. hopefully the forward line protect him and get around him when he kicks his first.
  13. Was an 02 number. Definitely a telemarketer. Said all of the $129 went to the club. However, had the email address I use for the club, so suggests my details were given by the club for this program. Would welcome any other info, though.
  14. Tonight I received a telemarketing call from the club. Wanted $129 for $350 pack. Light on detail. I had no time to hear the bigger pitch. Anyone else get this, or know the details?
  15. Will probably get howled down, but here goes: out:. Garlett. In BenKen out: Vince. In:. Clarry out: Harmes. In: Terlich Out: Hogan (if inj),. In Spencer. (Gawn to spend more time forward)
  16. From a structure point of view, we also suck the big ones at managing contested ball scenarios inside our front 30. We must be the worst for this (also, are we the worst at defending this at the other end?). Opposition teams seem to be able to get the sneaky kick in (GCx3 yesterday) and get goals from inside 30 contests. We can't find anything, and usually just cough it up. For me, this is a structural issue. Rather than playing 36 stacks on the mill. We need a better system. Opposition teams are completely onto the tap over the back to Viney running through. We set up poorly around these forward contests and get little reward when there. we also need Garlett and the other small forwards to earn their money in these moments. It feels like we have zero 'x factor'.
  17. One of the worst games of football I have watched in a long time. our ability to execute basic skills, even with no pressure, was unacceptable. We relied on individual efforts to bust us out of our stupidity all over the ground, for the whole game. we looked slow and disinterested for 80% of the game. our ability to enter 50 has to be the worst in the competition. Over and over we would kick to a 3 on 1, or a Suns player by themselves. Zero intellect applied to getting into a scoring position. the game plan was there, we were too crap to execute it. will take the 4 points, but couldn't sing the song. Need a big turnaround or we will be smashed next week.
  18. Salem playing in the firsts today? how did JKH and King go?
  19. When should we expect a formal citing, if it comes? do we expect the club to get proactive if it is not cited? thos loser needs to be dealt with.
  20. Why are you worried about Wiederman? First year on a list, started back a fair way. Has shown plenty early. From the reports, is held in good regard but also given clear development goals and targets. i think he is not 'Lucas Cook'. May not get a game this year, but another pre season, some strength and skill development, and I think there is enormous upside. Looks like he has a lot of talent. playing with Smith and Hulett in that forward line, there is a lot of competition for the big man role. Hulett is probably in front of him, but that is OK. He has time. Don't cut his lunch quite yet.
  21. Roos said Oliver struggles to run out games as a first year player, which will stand against him. Spencer hurt his knee in the VFL, so will need to see how he pulls up. Pedo a possibility, and I would love to see Hulett on a forward flank. suspect OMac may be injured, given what we saw, so may be out. otherwise, they played with great effort. Probably only injury induced changes.
  22. For me, the defensive set up playing a sweeper back was (finally!) a huge positive. Petracca really showed strength, power and vision today. Maxy Gawn rules the air. Our locking the ball in to our forward line was awesome the way we cut angles to break the web was superb on the negative side, our goal kicking was appalling. our delivery into 50 was crap. the turnovers directly,to,opposition players was so costly (TMac x 3!) So, a lot to like, but I HATE losing.
  23. last time they cut us up because they outran and outspread us, making it impossible for the defense to drop back and do its job. We need big two way runners if we are going to win this one. We need to make lots of contests, and slow down their ball movement. Otherwise they will spread and waltz around us like the witches hats of old. We could nearly go in unchanged. It would just be the injuries to Oscar and Bernie that need monitoring, and if someone doesn't pull up. Without a Casey game, it was hard for anyone outside the team to really push for selection.
