  1. So they know how to back winners. last time I checked, it was a free country and people were allowed to hold their own views and opinions. Whether or not I agree with them does not make them or their products 'suck'. It is perhaps this type of holier-than-thou attitude that led all of those who have been told they suck for holding a belief to rise up and put Trump in the White House? i have always had excellent experiences with New Balance, and would welcome them back.
  2. I suspect any DFA action for the Dees was flipped on its head with the special and unexpected snaring of Mr J Lewis. Any thoughts of needing to bring in 'experience' through the DFA is then moot. De Santo, Barlow, etc no longer required. i could really only see a fwd/ruck type ( maybe Hannath) added if he is better than what we can get in the draft. It will mean one more has to go, as we have to take 3 (including rookie upgrades) in the draft.
  3. Thanks and good luck Lynden - apart from against us. Our game style passed him by, more than his ability to 'play AFL'. The emergence of the fast attacking defender, quick decision maker and attacking switcher was not really in his repertoire. Taking the solid grab and kicking long down the line is a Collingwood tradition - and suits Dunns style. Our back line is going to evolve around Tmac, Omac and Frost as fast, mobile talls. They made lots of mistakes taking the game on in 2016, but when it worked, it looked like the basis of a style that Dunny no longer can deliver on. He has been fantastic, and I believe he was a real champion of our club in some very dark times.
  4. Thanks for your efforts at Melbourne. i love the fact that our team has evolved. I see the role he played is now superseded by Hogan. Our game style has evolved, and Chris helped us fill this void and allow Hogan to develop. With Hogan re-signing, he was surplus to needs. And we don't really know yet where Goody will take our structures and gameplan. We have limited places and specific needs. With Hogan, Weids and Hulett, and with Pedo in reserve, our young forward line has the pieces. A ruck/forward is the bit that is missing, to support Maxy. Mitch King will have a lot of admirers if he can step up into this role. Dawes, simply was overtaken in his role.
  5. This doesn't have to be win/lose. whorethorn need to rejuvenate, and move on players that will probably have 2 years or less at elite level. They still have heaps of 'experience'. Trade in for youth and talent, which they lack. Demons, with heaps of talent, trade in experience and a couple of years of elite/ near elite footy smarts, to work with a highly talented (but inexperienced) list. We pay a third year with a 50/50 chance that JL runs around at Casey, and takes a CrossType role. still doesn't explain paying big coin for Vickery, who I would have behind Fitzy on their list (and that is not very far forward!) Dees can get real value out of this. Cost us so little in the trade, and 3 years is perhaps a little long, but I reckon he will thoroughly prove his value.
  6. I think this is the sort of trade in we would chase if we thought we were right in the premiership window. We would want a pretty good deal to take him now. We would probably look at more of a 'developer' if we see our premiership window is 3-5 years away. It is a 'need', and if Sydney pay a hefty chunk of his salary, I wouldn't say no, but I think they will chase a developer for this role.
  7. I wonder if Clarko knows that the 2016 style/list was not going to cut it in 2017. Then he has to reinvent the game plan and find a way to deliver on it. We may think ( even hope) that the sky is falling for the whoresons, but perhaps all we are seeing is a pivot and evolution. interested in the Fagan comments. Let's see how that plays out up north, and at the Hawks. i'll get the popcorn and settle in, could be fascinating!
  8. This thread is now approaching pre-ejaculate levels. hope the recruiters can just pull all this off
  9. Re Mitchell to Hawks: 14 is a first rounder sydney needed salary cap space, so needed him or someone equivalent moved on. 14 would serve for academy protection if needed. fairly even top 20, apparently. Mitchell wanted to get to hawthorn. so seems like a good get for both.
  10. I think the mods here are 'offensive coordinators' keeping some of the shite people post here at a moderately offensive level. Lets see what he brings. These days, great communicators and teachers seem to be highly valued.
  11. I raised Boyd because he can kick from 50, which is something Hogan struggles with. as people are talking about contract size and his importance to the team, it was a point of difference that Boyd has over Hogan. We know what Boyd is paid. Hogans value for mine would double if he could finish off from outside the arc. I see them as very different players. looking forward to JH's situation being resolved, and everyone getting on.
  12. The thing I noticed today was the setup inside F50. The doggies set up a second line outside the contest - fast hands or by any means the ball was forced to them, and they kicked off a step at goal. I don't know how many goals they got through this strategy. They poured on heaps of pressure. The swans didn't let them get out the back, and slowed the spread most of the day. Think the doggies got the rub of The umpires today. Our aim must be not to 'copy' them, but to play to our strengths and 'beat' them. At the moment we have a lot of work to do on outside speed and kicking accuracy. BTW: How the bulls testicles did Johannason with the Norm Smith? Almost all his disposals were directly to opposition or ineffective.
  13. Would be useful if he could kick from outside 50. Might be worth as much as Boyd....
  14. "Im sick of running in the preseason"..... well, that will guarantee his exit. If he wants to prolong his career he will have to run, run and run some more in the preseason. Apart from Demonland, I wonder who are the 'haters'??
  15. Now Casey are done, do we expect season exit interviews today or tomorrow, and potential list announcements thereafter?
  16. As some have asked: Will H-E or Won't H-E? (boom Tish, was time for a dad joke)
  17. I know what it is - blinking. Not evidence of anything. Until you can describe what he was thinking as he was answering the question, and the ideomotor response (blinking) that it triggered, this ain't evidence. He might of been thinking about Chiko Rolls, who knows?
  18. In all this conversation I don't see too much about what a forward line without Hogan could be - with current stocks. Hulett, Weidermann and Watts could be really interesting as a foward troupe. If Hogan goes around for another 12 months and Hulett and Weids can develop nicely, we could be OK. Hogan playing as the power CHF for the next ten years will be something I would love to see. However, we are not without options in the cupboard already - perhaps 2 pre-seasons away from being very good.
  19. I dislike the fawning over these guys. The club acts like it is holier than thou. The supporters are smug turds that still don't get how wrong this all was. The media think the return of Jobe is a messiah moment. They are people who did the wrong thing. If they have paid their dues, they can get back to work. The club and those in positions of power and responsibility have acted unconscionably and put the careers, and lives, of young men at risk. They should all be held accountable and put to the sword.
  20. If that purple throbber on the footy show has anything on trades, can someone post it? I can't watch that show...
  21. We need a strong marking forward that can pinch hit in the ruck. Dunn should be given a preseason to become this player. He has the attributes, and does not pose the same liabilities that he currently does to the gameplan. He may actually offer more than what is currently on the market - he can out-Dawes Dawes, I'd reckon, and his leadership and experience could be valuable to the young heads in the forward line. One year extension, with the opportunity to be the hit up big kicker that could be really useful to our game plan.
  22. If I remember correctly, they wanted to wait until after the CBA was finalized to understand what was on offer (how much they could get). The CBA was meant to be concluded earlier this year, but it has not. Perhaps part of this non-decision is that this hasn't been resolved yet?
  23. Scott really struggled to get a touch against the seagulls. Rarely sighted until late in the game. But has positive form before this game, so who knows? Salem will be a big loss. Hulett would come in, and Terls, I would think. good luck to Casey.
  24. They could trade Fitzpatrick back to the Dee's for our second rounder. (That really was a joke....)
