I will always remember Grimes for the desperate punch from behind he did in the dying seconds to get us up over Adelaide in Adelaide. Would be the best win he played in and wouldn't have happened without him.

Viney was clearly carrying an injury from the Port game onwards. I'm not saying it in hindsight i have said it in other threads previously. Given he has played with a broken leg and severely broken hand previously i am guessing this injury was decent given the effect on his output.

Max Gawn is arguably our most important player and certainly the player we can least avoid to lose through injury. Yet somehow I am always worried about Watts getting injured in the ruck.

Currie cemented his spot as number 1 ruckman at gold coast this year until he broke his hand in 3 different incidents and 3 different spots. Two of the breaks required surgery to repair. Before that he was behind Goldstein in the sub era where teams stopped playing a backup ruck.

I have heard we never actually sent a talent spotter to watch Liam Jurrah. We just heard other clubs were into him.

We know more than anyone getting a footy club right requires more than one section to fire to succeed. You can have the best recruitment team but it counts for nothing if you have no player development. You can have the best tactical coach but it counts for nothing if the players are no good. You can have the best team but it counts for nothing if your fitness and medical staff can't keep them on the park and firing in September. You can have the most members but who cares if you can't win a premiership. You can have collingwood on the ropes in the last quater and just need the ball to bounce the right way for you in the dying seconds of a grand final for Ross Lion and Stephen Milne to be remembered very differently. You need so much to go right at a footy club and it has to start with the board.
