We need to try something different, the past 6 weeks we seem flat, robotic and most players just can't kick. Jones and M Brown have been injured not sure when their last game of footy was, bringing in Melksham is a no brainer he is better option than Harmes. The other option with a bit of X factor about him is Smith as a forward for Jackson with TMac playing that second ruck role.

Thanks, my point is you don't need a lot of touches to impact a game. You can't expect a Bedford or Chandler to come in and get 18-24 touches, get that 10-14 lay some inside 50m tackles, hit their targets with the ball they get and hopefully hit the scoreboard. We just need to add another forward that will help keep the ball inside 50 and put opposition defenders under pressure.
-
Pickett gets the ball about 8 times a match, puts forward pressure on and kicks goals, Spargo gets it a bit more 10-14 times a game but each time he kicks it into our forward 50m arc I think that stat was we score 75% of the time ranked 2nd in the AFL. Can Bedford or Chandler do a the same 10-15 touches forward pressure and help impact the scoreboard either off their own boot or setting up a score. To me we are looking very robotic in the way we play no real dare or flare, it is almost like we play safe all the time rather than taking the game on, that to me has been to biggest change in our game.

Assuming you are talking about M Brown, I thought he was injured and we don't need a tall, I reckon we will be a better functioning forward line by adding Melksham and another defensive small rather than adding a tall. No question Jackson needs to be dropped along with Harmes. We need to try something as our forward line isn't functioning, sides are rebounding way to easily from our forward 50m arc. If you keep doing the same thing you aren't going to improve. We have Geelong and WCE that thrive on intercept marking rebounding from defensive 50, they control the football from their defensive 50m.

If you bring in Melksham which I'm a fan of, you need to also add some more defensive pressure up forward, I don't think Bedford or Chandler has really had the opportunity to show if they are up to AFL level, you can't judge on the small sample we have seen .
-
The concern is we already have Fritsch that we cop his lack of defensive pressure, that is why I think it is important to bring in Melksham with Bedford or Chandler to add some defensive pressure up forward.

We continue to push an out number into the midfield, like most sides but what I noticed on the weekend we kept adding pushing more forwards into there to get this out number. We all know ANB as soon as the ball is bounced he becomes a midfielder, we saw on Saturday that we often pushed Spargo and Pickett into this role as well really leaving a big out number in our forward half. This works well if you can control the footy once you get it, we can't. The patches of play we were able to run out using our numbers and keep the footy often lead to Brown or Fritsch getting on the end of it. We had a ruck on the weekend winning every tap with ease for us to lose the clearances is a real concern. This is an ongoing issue that we don't seem to be able to address.

Becoming or has been for 2 years. Our midfield struggles to hit a target but have other strengths, this guy can't get the footy, when he does he can't hit a target. We need something different in our midfield group, you can't just have inside mids that can't hit targets. Harmes to me looks at his best as that defensive half forward, he should have been sent to Daniel on the weekend. We need to bring in Melksham, offers the same but a much smarter football with good skills. We need to bring in some more forward pressure Bedford or Chandler for Jackson and then Rivers or Hibberd goes out for Bowey My Team Bowey May Petty Hunt Lever Salem Langdon Brayshaw Jordon Melksham TMac Spargo Fritsch Brown Pickett Gawn Oliver Petracca Viney, Hibberd, ANB, Bedford
-
Bowey is a true footballer, smart and can kick the footy.

Jackson comes out, Harmes to join him. Melksham comes in and im not sure if we stick with 3 talls or bring in a small forward. Bring in Bedford or Weiderman depending on our set up. I think Fitsch is such a defensive liability up forward we can't play 3 talls, as our talls don't offer a lot once it hits the ground. Would also like to see Bowey, the list is pretty long on players out of form but expect Rivers or Hibberd to make way for him.
-
We just had players miss goals and targets when we really needed them to hit them. Our foot skills are bad. Forward pressure was really bad.
-
Our forward Défense is bad real bad
-
We just can't kick
-
You cant control the umpires you can control a dominate ruckman not hitting to our players, forwards how can't mark and kick. Blame umpires all you want we have massive clearance and forward issues
-
Don't believe the stats our mids are getting smashed, our forwards are woeful.
-
Bringing Harmes in for AVB same same doesn't make the side any better, a hard running defensive player with poor kicking and decision making. Would have loved to see Melksham, just someone that is Footy smart and can kick the football. On Jackson, I think we are being sucked in on by his 5-10mins a qtr in the Ruck, we can cover this with a Weid or Tmac or Gawn staying out of the forward line and rucking for longer with a short spell each qtr on the bench. I rate Brayshaw as one of our better clearance players, he actually reads the ruck contest well, to have him on the wing is a waste. I still think our best stoppage set up is Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw.
-
Adam Cerra from the Dockers, he is the player we need to compliment our Midfield, would offer Brayshaw and some pick swaps. Dockers get an inside mid we get our outside mid.
-
Sign any kid they can lock them away just in case they are any good
-
I read that gws has 1200 kids in their academy
-
What is the right price a third or fourth round pick that is all you would get for him with his age and recent injuries
-
OK, you are slamming him, his past/current coaches which includes his dad for not taking him down a peg or two. That Viney will read The Age best players and think I was awesome today, you don't think that his current coaches will review his turnovers and highlight them.
-
Lets revisit this at seasons end, I'm happy to be proved wrong but I think we need to add at least 1 good ball user into our midfield group to complement what we have, an Andrew Gaff type of player would have a field day playing in our side, let our bulls win the footy and just be outside to finish off their hard work.

That post is pure garbage. Yep he didn't deserve to be named in the best over the weekend, everyone has a differing opinion on who deserves best players, look at to Votes post on this site to see that. Viney on the weekend didn't butcher the ball any worse that Brayshaw and Oliver, it is just that the couple of clean centre clearances he had he absolutely butchered it. As I keep posting, Viney is a part of a midfield group that collectively have poor disposal and decision making skills. When the pressure goes on so does the selfish metre rises for a few of our mids, they think they are doing the right thing to turn the game back on our terms but it is actually the opposite, Oliver and Petracca are also very guilty of this. I do agree though we need to look at trading out one of our mids at seasons end if the right deal or player was offered. We need to add a highly skilled mid into our group. To me Brayshaw has the most value maybe a trade to Fremantle for Cerra

Being a forward in our side when we play poorly is a nightmare because we over use the ball, we use the flick handball and we handball to much. Jason Dunstall played in a different era same as Lockett, it was one on one Football and the game was based around kicking the ball. Now it is about protecting space extra numbers down back, forwards pushing to the contest and keeping possession of the footy by hand until either you get clear for a kick, pressured and you are forced down the line or turn the footy over. Back in 80s and 90s you never saw the kick to handball ratio we see now, it would be 1 handball to every 2-3 kicks.

It isn't putting the burden onto them, the burden of failure is on us the supporters. What my post was highlighting was you have a window of opportunity to be successful, don't waste it as it all could be over very quickly. Does the modern day player care about this, they get the same pay cheque win lose or draw, a premiership is more for the supporters.
