  1. Love the way he plays, old fashion footballer that makes you earn every free kick. His Barrell in the last was a monster. He was cooked like all his team mates. He is the only Eagle mid that really applies consistent pressure Kelly, Gaff, Sheed, Redden, Nic Nat are good on their terms but don't run to hard defensively.

I think we saw our squad running after the game last night. Daw, Weiderman, Smith, Viney, Chandler, Hibberd along with the 23 that played and TMac. Jones will be training his [censored] off to ensure he is ready should he get the call up but with no VFL it really makes it hard. I'm assuming we are having scratch matches with other AFL clubs like we did last year to keep the players that miss out match fit.
  3. WCE fans are a strange breed. You find most that attend the games are your arm chair football supporters that have had a reserve seat for 20 years. They don't really understand the rules and work off the WCE rule book not AFL. Most will be from the richer suburbs in WA, followed Subiaco or Claremont in the WAFL and look down at most people. The working class in WA are Fremantle supporters, god help us if they every become any good.
  4. You have to be impressed with the youth in our side. They will have up and down games but Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Jordon, Bowey, Petty, Spargo and I like Sparrow he looks like he just needs a good run at it. I was all for Jackson to be dropped a couple of weeks back, lucky I'm not on the match committee, his form was terrible but he turned it around over past 2 weeks. It was him that turned the tide in the 3rd qtr he was jumping all over Nic Nat. When the lighting stop happened our 2 rucks had 28 touches between them, WCE 2 rucks had 8, it ended up 35 to 14. On Harmes, he is a better player when he has a job, he needs someone to take him to the football and he has the ability to win the ball once there. I think he played mostly on Kelly and Kelly showed him no respect when we had the footy. When he doesn't have a job I reckon he gets lost on the field. He kicked the ball the best he ever has last night which helps. On WCE they are busting at the seams in regards to salary cap and they are very close to falling off the cliff. They were cooked in the last quarter prior to the delay. After the delay as per most posters, all it would have taken is a goal straight after the break and this would have been a 50 point game. We gave these front runners a sniff, we tried to manage the win, they took the game on.
  5. I think it is whoever in front when they stop the game not who is in front at half time. You need to start the 3rd qtr for it to be a result
  6. I know is most footy comps the rule is if the game is called off after half time the team in front is awarded the win
  7. Not sure who umpire 22 is but Dean Margetts should never be allowed to umpire WCE games
  8. Funny isn't it, the Eagles have played some real bad footy over the past month, they seem to be completely underdone, injuries all season and players don't look like they want to be out there. Flip side Melbourne besides switching off against a couple of the bottom sides have had a dominate year with little injuries, but we as supporters have little confidence that we will win a game that is ours for the taking. We have seen this to much in the past, a game that means a lot we just don't turn up for, fingers crossed we don't miss this opportunity.

Surprised by this, I thought leaving Melbourne in WA for a couple of weeks was a real chance. I reckon on Saturday this was odds on with 29 cases but now it seems the latest spread seems to be semi controlled. Still think we will be in lockdown till mid/late next week

That is just a real bad decision.
  11. He can't stay on the list, the issues Adelaide have faced over the last couple of years they need to dump this guy.

If the AFL want to expand any further they will need to head down an NFL divisional and conference system. You play your teams in your Div twice and everyone else once, 23 games in a season. The Victorian teams make up 1 conference the others sides another. Eastern St Kilda/Hawthorn/Melbourne/Richmond/Collingwood South North/Bulldogs/Geelong/Carlton/Essendon North Bne/GC/Syd/GWS/Tassie West WCE/Freo/Adl/Port/NT

Is there a chance we don't leave WA. We play Adelaide there next week and then Geelong the week after. Lions V WCE changed to WA in R23 means 5 of the top 8 are already in WA, Dogs V Port R23 moved into Adelaide, the only club left is Sydney if the top 8 stays as it is now. No chance finals in Victoria will be all in WA and SA in front of full stadiums

He is doing his job on the wing wouldn't say he is dominating he is very hot and cold. It is the only spot for him to play in the side. Not sure what has happened but our coaches don't see him in the centre Square Mids. I'm with you I thought he was an amazing clearance player, like the rest of our mids at the time his disposal by foot is extremely poor and defensively he was a one way runner. He has shown on the wing he is still Kicking poor but at least he runs hard defensively. This third mid is a problem, we need a bit of class in there to compliment the grunt. Really need a mid that can get it and kick it well. I just don't see that player on our list at the moment.

Yep, WCE would be a mile on top and I reckon Adelaide would be next. For WCE it is like you are on the wait list for the MCC, you need to take out a membership each year to get on a wait list for a seat to be vacated.

Just replace HFF with Midfielder as nearly every club pushes the HFF into the mids. Move FP to High forwards. The back 6 and mids haven't changed that much, how they play is a bit different but the role is similar.
  17. I think it is more important to improve the ball going into our forward line. We need to get a highly skilled mid, I still believe that Brayshaw is our most tradable player to get this. If the right player was there an outside mid that can get it and kick it well, Brayshaw can help make the deal.
  18. Journo's like Ralph need to make stupid comments that create backlash to keep them relevant. If they don't they lose their job. He cops a fine or 1 week

Maybe we can share it, hire some excavators, get the Chain saw out, knock over the project over for half a mill and keep the rest
  20. drdrake replied to Romey's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Jeez 3 mill doesn't go to far these days

I wonder if a full pay out means he can be put on Garden leave from coaching for a year

And the get to add Darcy as FS this year that is tipped to be top 5-10. Means you can trade off first round pick as long as you have enough points to cover.
  23. It is pretty simple especially in a game where you have complete dominance in the Ruck. We play the same as the bulldogs pushing additional numbers to the contest. There are a number of examples where Max was smashing the ball forward or even taking clean possession of the ball, this is premediated action that it seemed Max was on his own page and no one else knew what he was doing. I am extremely critical of our ruck work as there seems to be little to no communication, Max is very easy to read his go to tap is dropping it behind at both centre and general play stoppages, boundary throw ins it is a drop to defensive side. You watch opposition midfields create a circle around us, once the ball gets 1-2m outside the contest if we don't have clean possession we get done. We play an in close contested brand if the ball gets to the outside we are stuffed. You would have seen against the dogs we continue to push forwards to the contest to try and out number the dogs, that is why we saw Pickett, Spargo so high up the ground, ANB always plays this role. It is also why it seems we never have small forwards front and square inside our 50m arc, they have to work so hard to get back. That's about as deep as I get
  24. What a terrible set up, I bet Max just dropped the ball either straight down or backwards, the better option considering his hit out dominance would have been wide to Langdon or Hunt not sure which one it is boundary side with no player with in 10m of him. That picture really sums up our mids, they all want the ball and get in each others way. Look at the dogs a real spread almost like a rugby style line.
