Farewell Christian Petracca
What GCS must know Humphrey is gone might not be next season but as soon as he can get out he will. Melbourne are happy to keep Petracca, so the end of the day GCS need to get the deal done or they will not have either Petracca and over next 2 years Humphrey.

Farewell Christian Petracca
How about Pick 6 and 7 to WCE for Pick 2 and 16 to GCS Pick 2 and future 2nd to mfc for Petracca
-
Farewell Charlie Spargo
SOS is a Carlton man, offer contracts that push them into higher band. If this was a trade Jack would be worth around pick 35 to 45, the ruck around that 19 pick. Spargo hasnt played either pick in 40s or 50s, hopefully Todd Viney has taken care of melbourne with his contract and we set second round pick

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Its all positioning now, we want the best deal we can for Petracca, the MFC line will be if the right deal doesn't come he is playing for melbourne, but we also recognise we need to change our midfield up and if the Petracca deal doesn't get done trading Oliver becomes an option.

Steven May
End of second round will end up being a mid 40s pick which is about right

Hypotheticals on Tasmania entry concessions
I wonder if we they can trade off the 17 year old as of next year. If so Baxter Sruk is a massive watch next year along with key forward Jake Miller.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Wait and see if it happens. As we have a read today any trade will be benefit melbourne, 2 weeks time we will find out whether there is genuine interest or just clubs that want him but dont want to give up what we want. If he goes, good luck to him, we move on, if he stays we get to support him in the red and blue next season

Farewell Judd McVee
Go for freo first round pick and their 3rd for our second round and Mcvee
-
The List Manager Tim Lamb
Petracca to Gold Coast for Flanders and a first rd pick most likely 13 or 16, cant see them giving 6 Mcvee and our second rd to freo for freo first round May to dogs for future 3rd Spargo end of second rd compo to st kilda for heath. Take 2 first rounders in the draft, White and NGA pick late or rookie.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
They dont look because they don't have the skill to hit the kick. Our mids especially are great contested ball winners, just cant hit targets consistently by foot. Kick to a contest counts as an effective position miss a hit up target doesn't. Agree our coach backed to same players, not much down at Casey to bring in. We have gone to the draft grabbed some young mids, hopefully they can kick

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
We didnt break their kicking, we designed a game plan to their kicking ability. Kick long to a contest get numbers to the contest win the ball at the contest. Issue is game is all about maintaining possession now, it is all about hitting that 25 to 35m kick, we just dont have enough players capable of doing this consistently.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Goodwin has always spoken really well. The end of the day the premiership window was slammed shut last year, we tried to keep it open but nothing worked. Do you back Goodwin for 5 odd years to rebuild or make a break, the board went for fresh start. Now onto the playing group, the coach has gone, some calls need to be made on the group that played in the premiership.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I reckon there could be a couple of clubs looking for coaches, Carlton will be one
-
The List Manager Tim Lamb
Oliver has to go for both player and club. We will cop some salary but we need to free up the rest. Jvr, love to trade him but has lost any value Sparrow can we con a second round pick out of Adelaide will be in the 40s. Need to keep Petracca. The other that I would throw out there to see what offers you get is Bailey Fritsch. No point talking about who to target if we cant clear cap space

Time to go Goody?
We brought players in that suited the game style at that time, cant complain got us a flag. Issue is the game has evolved back to a highly skilful game and the boys that delivered us the flag dont have the foot skills to make us a threat. We arent geelong that just keep evolving and attracting players that allow them to evolve, we are like recent flag winners Richmond and west coast. Richmond has accepted the pain, traded players that are good but really wont help them to win a flag, loaded up with top end picks to evolve. Do we have the guts to do the same, we will not go forward with our current senior players.

What we have lost
Looks very similar to the dark times pre Roos and Jackson. The older players just look defeated. We have been able to mask our skill inefficiencies by pressure and contested ball, worked for a few seasons but the game evolved to a possession game and we just cant keep the footy. Our back 6 was the best in the comp, now the ball is coming in so fast they are being exposed. Unfortunately a lot more pain coming, May and Gawn are looking like players that are coming to the end, Petracca wont hang around, Kossie the same. All good runs come to an end, Richmond, West Coast and now Melbourne, shame we couldn't win another flag with this group.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Essendon get the 4 points and most likely a top 2 draft pick from Melbourne. Time to take the shackles off and let the boys play, one on one accountability, stop giving an out number up forward, we cant hit targets. We are trying to play a style our team doesn't have the skill to execute
-
Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
We are trying to play a possession game, short 25 to 30m kicks, issue is we hit 2 miss the third everyone is out of position and the fast break the other way happens. We dont have good enough kicks to play this way, Viney, Langdon, Petracca, Oliver are all terrible kicks, they are your main ball winners.

Just Kick the [censored] Thing!
Really, if you cant hit that last kick inside 50m no forward will be effective. The GWS tsunami requires players getting behind the footy, get the turnover and then run forward in waves. Teams now score from stoppage or from turnovers usually in there defensive half. I love seeing this change, means you have to get elite ball users in your team. The change is happening, clubs now will look at elite kicks and back their conditioning staff to get their fitness up.

Dangerfield Wants Shorter Quarters
The game opens up and is enjoyable to watch when players become fatigued and can't work as hard defensively. Shorter quarters less fatigue more defensive slogs.

Dees being seriously underrated
Outside of Richmond. North and West Coast, I think all other clubs have the potential to finish in the top 8, even North and West Coast won't be to far off. Not to many years you would say 15 clubs are a genuine top 8 contender.
-
Dees being seriously underrated
There is no doubt that the 2025 season is going to be the most even comp we have seen. The last couple of years we have seen the gap get closer from top to bottom. All about early wins, get the confidence, win the close games and finish strong. It will be interesting to see the so called experts top 8, most will have us 10th or below and Collingwood top 6, I think it will be other way around.

"We aren't great at any phase of the game"
Our game plan was based around winning the contested ball, mainly at stoppages. We backed ourselves in to win the contested ball and when that stopped happening we couldn't set up aggressively behind the footy and the ball just exited our forward 50 at a rapid rate. Lot of factors our 2 main big body mids had injuries, unfit, issues, was viney and second string mids at the contest. If Oliver and Petracca stay fit, May, Lever, Petty stay fit and the young talent improves no reason why we can't rebound quickly

AFLW 2024 Trade and Draft Dates
I think the recruitment team for Melbourne Aflw side knew our list was on the slide, we would struggle to keep up with North, Brisbane, Adelaide. If we keep those players yep we make finals, most likely finish 4th to 8th, could we win the flag, IMO no. Can we do a quick reset and go again I think we can but unfortunately we will have to give up some stalwarts to get the picks we want.

AFLW 2024 Trade and Draft Dates
The great thing about the rise of AFLW is the rise in participation and improvement of pathways for young girls. The downside of that for the players that have been around since the early years, the young players coming in are more talented footballers. I don't think our women's side can win the flag in 2025, they might make the 8, but I do think we have enough young talent to contend again with an aggressive draft hand this year. Very similar to our men's side, add a couple of high quality mids this year and we can get back into contention real quick.
