WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
I'm not concerned about him leaving this year, I don't think he is silly enough to go to the Dockers and West Coast's Salary cap is busting at the seems. There is no question WCE will be looking at him to replace Nic Nat.

The Mid Season Review
Great start to the year, I think the development of Spargo, Jordon, Pickett, Rivers, Jackson and the return to form of TMac have been the real pleasing aspect of this year. TMac made a choice to fight for his spot and great for us he did this, his last 2 years were terrible and we hope that he can maintain his form into the back half of the season as he is the real barometer from the team. Back line has been great, mids we still lack a bit of disposal polish and need to get better with clearance work, forwards have looked good, we seem to have them go missing a bit whether that is due to supply issues or structure our forwards can go through halves of footy and rarely touch the ball. The loss on the weekend hopefully will focus the team on what they need to do over the next 3 months. From this position of 11 and 2 it will be disappointing if we don't finish top 4

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Would love to know the stats for centre clearances with a break down on hitting the ball forward of the centre line, straight down and backwards. I have to admit I hate seeing the centre set up with no sweeper, 2 reasons if we lose the clearance the back is open for a clear deep clearance kick and it shows what Max is going to do drop it behind for a mid to run around the back.

Do you trust Melbourne
I still go into every game not knowing which MFC will turn up, I hope that the contested team that we have shown most of this year turns up each week, but I have no confidence that it will.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
The worse thing is that after the first 5 minutes of the game we all saw the warning signs. It starts with the flick handballs to no one, moves on to the missing of targets by foot, then the lack of defensive running.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Applying pressure comes down to effort, why does our effort drop against bottom sides. Would love to see the behind the goals footage I bet it will show us not running hard to defend, we allowed Collingwood players to get goal side running hard. I don't buy into we were flat we had a good break and we didn't turn up.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
In the AFL you are always going to have losses and I never get upset when we lose to a better side if we have a crack. What is frustrating is when you lose games by lack effort. We lost today because we thought it was going to be easy and it wasn't. Our kicking skills are still and underlying issue, ok we are in a great spot but will this be exposed when finals pressure us applied.

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
Between the ears

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 v Collingwood
This is the Melbourne that everyone has been waiting to show. The total lack of effort is concerning

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 v Collingwood
No question Weids has had no impact but our turnovers and kicking into the forward line has been terrible. Seems to be 3 on 1 every time we go forward. Last week Weidermans impact was at least bringing the ball to ground and bring small forwards into the game. Can allow them to mark the ball inside our 50m Can we kick the ball well

Is Collingwood sitting on top of the ladder they are making us look very ordinary

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
Do we still have the Father/Daughter academy, I remember this from a few years ago but nothing since.

Bit like bullcreek leeming.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
You can just imagine the list management conversation that lead to this. Wright basically will be staying the list is stuffed, we have massive salary cap issues we need to off load players to start a 3-4 year rebuild. Bucks saying I'm not hanging around to see more senior players off loaded and sitting in the bottom 4 for the next few years. Ross Lyon isn't the man for the job, they need a massive rebuild. Ross is better suited at Carlton that have enough good young players that need a senior coach to take them to the next level.

Farewell Sam Weideman
He was a 60 goal a year forward, if he was still that North wouldn't have traded him. What Montagna fails to think about is what effect bringing Brown in will have on the other forwards. I just think what Weiderman offers compliments what the other forwards offer and is different from a TMac/Fritsch/Jackson. That is the difference between the 2021 demons to other years it is about the team and not the individual, Weiderman should have kicked 2 on the weekend didn't but the team still kicked 15 against a side that has won 7 straight, we scored on 57% of our inside 50m entries, even the first half it was 50% so the forward line is functioning very well. I like everyone wants him to start hanging onto a few marks and nailing those goals he should kick, but I'm also concerned about change when something is working

Rating 2021 team Against 1998, 2000 & 2018
Yep, at this stage we the 2021 side has put us in a position to play finals. They are playing fantastic football but in terms of finals have achieved very little.

Farewell Sam Weideman
We have no idea what Role Weiderman was assigned. It is simple to say he has to kick goals, he had his opportunity and needs to start kicking the 1-2 that he shouldn't miss but he has the best defender and competed very well against him. Weiderman allows TMac, Jackson and Fritsch to hit up at the ball get running with the confidence that the long kick we have a bloke that will jump at everything and if he doesn't mark it will bring it to ground. It gives Pickett, Spargo and ANB confidence that if they work hard to be front and square they will get an opportunity. Our back 6 looked balanced at the end of last season, I think the forward line with Weiderman playing deep is starting to really find that balance. My concern with B Brown is that he plays similar to TMac/Fritsch leading forwards, TMac struggled playing that deep contested marking forward in 19/20 we don't want to change the way he is playing now , Fritsch is best running and Jackson still gets pushed off the ball, bringing in B Brown will change the dynamic of the forward line, which really is doing pretty well at the moment.

Is Jack Viney an automatic inclusion?
No, the mids are working as a unit, he needs to get his touch and match fitness at Casey
-
Farewell Sam Weideman
I think the forward line is functioning very well with Sam in it. To kick 15 goals v Brisbane is a very good effort. Would have loved for him to kick a couple but I would be worried about bringing B Brown in and that effecting a forward line that is working.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Pretty much our entire forward line with Hunt and Petty

2021 List and Contract Details
My assumption is based around a player that could have value at the trade table that we can cover with other players on our list. We have locked away Petracca, Viney, Oliver, Harmes add in Jordon all till at least 2023 these are the guys keeping Brayshaw out of the centre square and you are right the club is still searching for another wing. Will this happen no idea but if the club is looking to get early picks he is a player that can get this and as mentioned we have players that can cover his role.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
Ovens and Murray league wouldn't be that far behind these competitions. For a 19 yo to hold his own in that league he will be able to hold his own at VFL level.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: KYE DECLASE
I have seen this guy play this year for Werribee, seems to play mainly on the wing good size runs hard. Can kick it, one of those players where the ball seems to jump of his boot with no real effort. Will slot nicely into Casey and may push for selection if we are hit with some injuries.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
This and we get him now, we don't need to use a Draft pick on him in November, he gets 6 months developing with the best defensive unit in the AFL. I like the balance of the picks, a mature player that might push for selection and a young player that can be developed. One eye on the now and one on the future.
