Sydney got the banana, we got the peel ............... (sorry Redleg!)

I attended yesterday's pre-game function for interstate members hosted by Robbo. He volunteered that Roos is widely regarded as the best available coach out there, and the MFC is doing everything in it's power to sign him for next year. Part of this was typical Robbo showmanship, but there was a clear indication that the potential appointment of Roos is still very much part of the MFC agenda.

Just back in Canberra after watching our team yesterday. FWIW (zilch), this is how I would have voted if I hadn't been beaten by the siren: 6. Terlich 5. Fitz. 4. Garland 3. T. Mac 2. Frawley 1. M. Jones

Round 15 Vs Swans - Interstate Members Round

Really enjoyable last year, and well organised. Generous BBQ lunch, opportunity to meet with like-minded souls, a couple of injured players on hand who mixed freely with guests, ferry ride to the ground, and reserved seating with fellow Demons at the G. I'll be there again this year with my Demon wife and a couple of guests ................... just a pity we will be playing the Swans. -

................ and me and Mrs Deeoldfart from freezing bloody Canberra. -
Will not die wondering, but rough around the edges, ie. similar to his predecessor (Barty) ...... but a better footballer.

I'm very confident that Jimmy's skills and attitude will make him a very good player for the MFC. However, he's still lightly framed and learning to play against men, and my feeling is that his development is being rushed a bit because of the paucity of mids on our list. At this stage I doubt that he would have jagged a senior berth in more than about 4 other teams.
-
Two points out. I expect better from you Jack!
-
I am confident that Watts will be true to his word, and I really appreciated Craig's refreshingly honest appraisal of where we are at in his presser.
-
I was previously sucked-in by Schwab's public facade ......... how wrong I was! He has set us back a lot of years and a lot of dollars. Shameful stuff, and I was so naive.
-
The effort and intensity were there for most of the game ..... that's a plus. Also a bit more confidence to take the game on ..... another small plus. Same old same old with disposal, decision making and lack of composure .....no improvement there! Add 4 or 5 of our current 'outs' and a few decent recruits, and there is something there for Roos or whoever to work with. Fingers crossed.

Very hard to disagree with anything Martin Flanagan has said in this article, and like him, I give us a sneaky sort of chance today. However, win, lose or draw, nothing will be changed by todays results ... our Club has been appallingly managed for more than a decade. We are just about as low as you can go right now, and its a long, long way back to becoming consistently competitive, let alone competing in September.

Love it, especially the forward looking perspective. There's absolutely no looking back from here!! Well done!

....................... but my comment wasn't directed at you stuie. Anyway, I know what you are saying with 'simplicity and substance', but as an old fart, I prefer the heritage embodied in our current emblem.

I agree, and it is certainly not meaningless as some have indicated.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and we, the members and supporters, must continue to support our Cub to the hilt, and in every way possible.

That's not what my wife called me at the time, I promise you that!
-
I withdraw my candidature on the grounds that a self confessed bat eating Demon would be unlikely to win popular support.
-
The braised fruit bat I had in Vanuatu a couple of years back was an absolute delicacy. Washed down with a fine French Burgundy, it was sensational, and much better than any of their tropical fruits. ps. no Hendra virus over there apparently.

Good Calls Umm, err, ................ do I have to be honest? Bad Calls Innumerable, but my greatest clangers have been: Sam Blease will have a breakout year. Nev Jetta will cement a place in the back pocket. The Dees will win 3 or 4 games in first half of the season, and come home with a wet sail to possibly scrape into the final eight. I'm optimistic about our future from 2014, and beyond. Ben 'what's-his-name' is one of my favourite Demonland posters, based on his informative pre-season training reports and analysis. He's now looking more like a wooden spooner (sorry Ben, but your more recent form has been on a par with that of the Dees!).

Good advice I'm sure old dee. Maybe a few of us should have listened more closely to your sage words before the start of the season, .......................... but we shouldn't go down that path now, it could ruin the fabric of this thread, or the thread of this fabric, or something (??).
