  1. I agree, and it is certainly not meaningless as some have indicated.
  2. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and we, the members and supporters, must continue to support our Cub to the hilt, and in every way possible.
  3. That's not what my wife called me at the time, I promise you that!
  4. I withdraw my candidature on the grounds that a self confessed bat eating Demon would be unlikely to win popular support.
  5. The braised fruit bat I had in Vanuatu a couple of years back was an absolute delicacy. Washed down with a fine French Burgundy, it was sensational, and much better than any of their tropical fruits. ps. no Hendra virus over there apparently.
  6. Good Calls Umm, err, ................ do I have to be honest? Bad Calls Innumerable, but my greatest clangers have been: Sam Blease will have a breakout year. Nev Jetta will cement a place in the back pocket. The Dees will win 3 or 4 games in first half of the season, and come home with a wet sail to possibly scrape into the final eight. I'm optimistic about our future from 2014, and beyond. Ben 'what's-his-name' is one of my favourite Demonland posters, based on his informative pre-season training reports and analysis. He's now looking more like a wooden spooner (sorry Ben, but your more recent form has been on a par with that of the Dees!).
  7. Good advice I'm sure old dee. Maybe a few of us should have listened more closely to your sage words before the start of the season, .......................... but we shouldn't go down that path now, it could ruin the fabric of this thread, or the thread of this fabric, or something (??).
  8. Good decision Jack. It's a bye for the Dees this weekend, and consequently my first visit to this thread since 13 Feb. Perhaps I should be spending more of my time here ...... it's considerably less depressing.
  9. There are a handful of outstanding, heartfelt posts on this thread. They shine like gems amongst the usual array claptrap and vitriol. I congratulate the authors, and look forward to the day when we are all united in celebration rather than divided in adversity. It can't come quick enough!
  10. 6. Garland 5. M Jones 4. N Jones 3. Pedersen 2. Sylvia 1. Trengove
  11. ....... but it will still need time to recuperate from the major surgery.
  12. Thanks Jack. I'm hanging out for information like this. Where PJ leads us is far more important than our win/loss ratio for the remainder of the season.
  13. Nope. #3 he'd just run up to the box from ground level.
  14. I agree Fifty-5. At a personal level, I'd hate to be in Mark Neeld's shoes right now. He's had to endure an enormous amount during his short tenure as a senior coach, and while I know footy is a tough business, his current humiliation / execution by the media is over-the-top to the point of being in poor taste imo. Mark seems to be toughing it out reasonably well, but his wife and school age kids are unlikely to be quite so resilient, and for their sake alone, it's well and truly time for our footy club to clear the air.
  15. 6. N Jones 5. Frawley 4. Dawes 3. Garland 2. Terlich 1. Kent
  16. I agree Ralph. This thread has provided some important insight and context into our current on-field performances, and strengthened my resolve to stick fat with the Neeld regime until at least the end of the season. I'm now even more convinced that what flows from Peter Jackson's involvement will be pivotal to where we find ourselves in two or three years time. Maybe I'll sleep a bit easier tonight.
  17. I agree Nasher. For me the jury has been out for a couple of years on Nev, but I think we now have a verdict.
  18. Significant improvement on late yesterday, but still seems slower than normal.
  19. 6. Howe - really good. 5. Trengove - possibly his best for a couple of years. 4. Terlich - continues to impress. 3. N Jones - if only he had some decent midfield support! 2. McKenzie - a bit closer to the Jordie we know and admire. 1. M. Jones - ok
  20. At my age I'll probably go into cardiac arrest ............ and then (hopefully, to continue the fairytale), be revived in the back of an ambo being given the kiss of life by a voluptuous 23 year old nurse wearing a Demons jumper.
  21. Compared to last week: Effort B (a huge improvement) Skills D (fewer 'howlers' but still way, way off the pace) Decision making D+ (better, but still costing us goals at both ends) For me, the key questions are: can we back up the improvement next Sunday against Freo (and take a few more baby steps)? ...... or will we do what usually happens after a more competitive effort?
  22. 6. Garland (after a slowish start, is having possibly his best year. Today there was a touch of class in a lot of his work.) 5. Terlich (always hard at it, and today showed good composure with the ball. Has been an excellent pick up) 4. Davey (shades of the old Aaron ...... great to see) 3. Frawley (same as Davey) 2. N. Jones (typical Jonesy) 1. Dawes (great effort considering he is so under-done. Can't wait to see him in tandem with Mitch) Special mentions to Magner, Howe and M. Jones. What a pleasure it is to have a couple of special mentions .... for the right reasons.
  23. Just give me the very best available person to head our FD. I havn't got a clue who that might be, but I'm pretty certain it's not the Ox (but he's highly likely to have some of the Ox's character traits, such as honesty, openness and no bull dust).
