  1. Barrett is a drop kick, but there’s a bit more substance in this article than most that he has written.
  2. 6. N. Jones 5. Sylvia 4. M. Jones 3. Viney 2. Bail 1. Howe
  3. Ha, ha. I seem to recall a membership promo early in the Bailey era which went along the lines of "The Fire has Started".
  4. God knows what "us on demonland" will be thinking, but I sure as hell won't be over-reacting to a win over Essendon, in the same way that I'm not prepared to over-react to one horrible loss against Port Adelaide. At this stage I just regard the Port loss as another (albeit unpleasant) step in the journey. For me, mid-season (at the earliest) and late season are the appropriate times for a serious stock-take.
  5. Just back home after driving 1300ks to watch that garbage. What a waste of time, money and emotion that was! My votes: 6. Viney : first game, and did more than enough to show that he will be an important part of our future ............... if we have one. 5. Grimes: battled it out, while most of his team mates played like they didn't give a damn. 4. Jones M: first game, tried hard, and was far from the worst. 3. Toumpas: first game, and deserves a to be cut a bit of slack.
  6. Surprised and a bit disappointed that Nev Jetta didn't make the 25 (assuming he is fit). My guess is that Blease, Pederson, Davey, and Matt Jones will be in the final 22, with Blease the sub.
  7. Good post Rusty. I reckon 'Big Poppa' is spot on ........ many in our ranks are too dour and and negative. It's the start of a new season Christ's goodness sake. Get on the bandwagon and enjoy the ride! Really looking forward to us all joining in a thunderous rendition of the Grand Old Flag post match at the G on Sunday.
  8. I beg to differ on that one Dof'94. Nev is not 'flashy' but I reckon he has lots going for him including hardness at the ball and man, strength and courage, reasonable pace, good anticipation and awareness, very good hands and a sound kick. Regular injury concerns and the variety of roles he has been asked to perform over his short career have meant that he has never become a regular best 22, but if he can stay fit, I think he can make the back pocket (Barty's old spot) his own during 2013. Coming off a low base, it wouldn't surprise me if he is a strong contender for most improved.
  9. I reckon you could mount solid arguments for several of them (esp. Watts, Dunn, Evans), but I gave my vote to Blease by a whisker from Jetta. I get the impression that Sammy's work ethic has increased markedly under Neeld (ie. I think he has got the message!), and as his fitness improves, the cameos will become a thing of the past, and he will become an important and consistent play-maker with loads of class. Touch wood the injury gods will start to smile in his direction.
  10. Demonland needs a 'Black Hat' button.
  11. I thought it was a good interview. Just enough information to titillate, but not enough to set expectations too high. Neeldy is getting better in the media each time I hear him.
  12. I remember hardtack. It was a good night.
  13. I'm sure you will enjoy it hardtack. From my experience Don is a great bloke, only too happy to chat about our/his beloved Dees, and a straight shooter. Ask him a question and he will give you an honest answer.
  14. Wow. I assumed were ancient old dee, but it never occurred to me that you might be immortal.
  15. I'm certain that Don's comments would not have been directed to people in your circumstances jako. Remain loyal, and join up again next year, when you may need to be paid-up to get access finals tickets!
  16. That's a fair summary bush. It sticks in my craw that Collingwood have been able to maintain their identity as a powerhouse club, while we have struggled to re-establish ourselves for the best part of 50 years. I'm envious of that, and it adds to my dislike for Collingwood ahead of all others.
  17. Last year was a long drive home ..... this year will be much quicker, I promise! (and I still own the same vehicle!)
  18. +2 ..... driving down from Canberra with the dearly beloved. Looking forward immensely to singing the Grand Old Flag a few hundred times.
  19. I have absolute faith that a Mark Neeld coached team will ultimately have these qualities. It may be a while before we see it consistently, all over the field, but it's a certainty to be part of the agenda. The changes to our list under Neildy's watch are clear evidence of this imo.
  20. Great pics 666 ...... thanks!. Geez Jack is the absolute spitting image of his old man in his playing days. Have a look at pic. 2 on page #3.
  21. Collingwood, because they were our arch enemies during our golden era. They 'stole' the '58 flag from us, thus interrupting a run of premierships that would have culminated in a 'never to be beaten' sequence of six on the trot. I loathe them and despise them, and my feelings have rubbed off on my eldest son. He has a Magpies sticker firmly glued on the inside bottom of his toilet bowl. Visiting the bathroom is extremely satisfying at his house! Edit: spelling.
