  1. That's a fairly compelling argument you've made there WJ. While not wanting to let Barry off the hook, recruiting is a more exact science now than it was when any of them were selected, but its interesting that roughly half of them are still going around.
  2. Well, we'll just have to beat the odds then!
  3. Both ripper picks for the 50's if they live up to their early potential.
  4. They are surprisingly thin pickings for early in the third round.
  5. I'm getting more excited as each day goes by. I'm expecting: #36 - a small crumbing forward / tackling machine with a strong body and scintillating pace who can kick them from anywhere; #52 - a lanky, quick outside mid with exquisite skills on both sides, knows where the goals are and will be ready to go from round 1; and #54: Waylen Manson.
  6. I'd like to see that, sentimental old bastard that I am.
  7. IMO the major problem with the whole idiotic concept, is that the more that GWS are seen to be failing, the more they will continue to be propped up financially by the AFL ............ and we all know where the (mega) dollars will come from. The end result will inevitably be to the detriment of the game, and each of the existing clubs.
  8. I don't share your concerns old dee. I didn't like the Fevola situation last season, and that is no doubt influencing my view, but I certainly don't see the Lovett appointment, or even the notion of Casey becoming a quasi Melbourne seconds, as spelling the beginning of the end for Casey FC's competitiveness. Further, if the whole MFC / Casey relationship is taken into account (ie. with the community, schools, junior football etc), I can only see a win/win outcome.
  9. Very clever stuff Robbie. I like the connection between Sheedy, the Martians and GWS. All totally fanciful.
  10. I can see where you are coming from old dee, but I've been a Melbourne supporter all my life, and only drifted in as a Casey fan when the alignment was established a couple of years ago. I'm unashamedly selfish about wanting the alignment to serve Melbourne first, and Casey second, if that's the way it must be for Melbourne to make inroads on #13.
  11. Was just listening, and pondering how good it would be if our bloke became an all time classic like this one. No chance I guess, but the off season is time for dreaming. http://youtu.be/UPrixYOTNHw
  12. Mid 1950's (can't remember which year) vs. Essendon. Went with my folks who were one eyed Bombers fans. The Demons won (which was the norm way back then) and I was hooked for life. Edit:date
  13. Unnecessary and cheap shot at the Dees. Poor form imo, from someone who ought to know better.
  14. Mrs Dof had the banana and passionfruit portion but declined the whipped cream and crushed nuts. She has far more self-control than I do.
  15. Given that the T$ thread has resumed in a slightly different guise, I thought I should mention that I had my first banana split since the end of the footy season last night. Banana (obviously), fresh passionfruit, crushed nuts and lashings of whipped cream. Delicious, but not great for the waist-line I guess. When I told my lovely wife that it reminded me of Demonland, it confirmed in her mind that I've completely lost it. Some people just don't understand!
  16. MFC and Casey now reading from the same page. Excellent!
  17. What DD said. This is the first time I've been moved to utter a word on here about this whole saga, but I now feel compelled to state my views. The contempt that $cully showed towards my / our club, and his total lack of respect for the many good people who unflinchingly supported him, shows just what a lowlight of an individual he really is. We are well rid of him ......... such an individual could never, ever be a team player.
  18. That's all true Redleg, but I recall very similar sentiments about this year's Trade Week. That unexpectedly captured every Dees supporter's attention late in the piece.
  19. 10 and growing is a good number Nasher. I hope they are all Dees. I have three kids .... each of them and their partners are staunch Dees. Four grand-children - they don't have a choice.
  20. Seems you were correct jcb. The assistant line coaches at Melbourne will fill the breach, making for an excellent coaching alignment between MFC and Casey imo.
