  1. Silly thread. IMO, all true supporters would answer yes to both questions.
  2. 6. Howe - really good. 5. Trengove - possibly his best for a couple of years. 4. Terlich - continues to impress. 3. N Jones - if only he had some decent midfield support! 2. McKenzie - a bit closer to the Jordie we know and admire. 1. M. Jones - ok
  3. At my age I'll probably go into cardiac arrest ............ and then (hopefully, to continue the fairytale), be revived in the back of an ambo being given the kiss of life by a voluptuous 23 year old nurse wearing a Demons jumper.
  4. Compared to last week: Effort B (a huge improvement) Skills D (fewer 'howlers' but still way, way off the pace) Decision making D+ (better, but still costing us goals at both ends) For me, the key questions are: can we back up the improvement next Sunday against Freo (and take a few more baby steps)? ...... or will we do what usually happens after a more competitive effort?
  5. 6. Garland (after a slowish start, is having possibly his best year. Today there was a touch of class in a lot of his work.) 5. Terlich (always hard at it, and today showed good composure with the ball. Has been an excellent pick up) 4. Davey (shades of the old Aaron ...... great to see) 3. Frawley (same as Davey) 2. N. Jones (typical Jonesy) 1. Dawes (great effort considering he is so under-done. Can't wait to see him in tandem with Mitch) Special mentions to Magner, Howe and M. Jones. What a pleasure it is to have a couple of special mentions .... for the right reasons.
  6. Just give me the very best available person to head our FD. I havn't got a clue who that might be, but I'm pretty certain it's not the Ox (but he's highly likely to have some of the Ox's character traits, such as honesty, openness and no bull dust).
  7. Flash won't be with us in 2014. That will help with the green groceries.
  8. Well done Col. Melbourne's best two weeks in a row in my book.
  9. Jack must surely be carrying an injury, but why is he out there if he is?
  10. The umpire should be embarrassed - just wanting to assert authority when he clearly couldn't have seen head high contact. Report will be thrown out .... no case to answer.
  11. Agree. He would have comfortably made my top six if his disposal had been half decent. No excuses for a senior player to be consistently lazy in his delivery.
  12. 6. Garland 5. M. Jones 4. N.Jones 3. Evans 2. Frawley 1. Tapscott
  13. Off to hospital sadly, but in that quarter the boys were at least hard at it for him.
  14. Someone (or some people) in authority with the insight, leadership qualities and clout to turn around the awful culture that seems to have permeated our footy club. That, and only that, will be the cornerstone of any success we might enjoy in the future. Is superman available?
  15. If we have a heart and soul right now, it's Nathan Jones (and us diehard supporters, of course!). Edit: added the bit in brackets.
  16. Neither will I, or (I suspect) anyone else on here.
  17. The problem for me is that compelling arguments can (and have been) made for giving Neeld his marching orders right now, or waiting until late in the season. I'm just stuffed if I know, mostly because I'm not close enough to the action to make a call which I'm completely comfortable with. I know things need to change, but as many of the learned posters above have indicated, timing is critical. I have splinters in my bum from sitting on the fence, but right now I don't know which way to jump. There may be an abyss on either side, and the viability of my much loved Demons is at stake.
  18. One thing is for certain, our Club wouldn't 'lay down and be walked all over' if David had anything to do with the matter.
  19. It was an outstanding interview imo .... even better than his book, because the emotion was palpable. I loved the Ox as a player, I admire the way he has turned his life around post-football, and I love his honesty as a person. Well done David!
  20. Ron is one of the many 'greats' who played for the Melbourne Football Club back then. I never saw him play, but his record speaks for itself. RIP Ron.
  21. This exercise gets harder by the week. Sadly, the top six on the ground all played for the opposition. 6. Garland 5. Evans 4. Byrnes 3. Sylvia 2. Gawn 1. Tapscott
  22. I hope you are right Demonfan, 'cos if we are in it at 3/4 time, I reckon we will win.
  23. The burden of lies is weighing him down.
  24. Fair point Stu, my post probably should have been more 'balanced', and to be fair, I should have shown a bit more respect to a B&F winner. However, I maintain that Moloney showed the traits I mentioned too often over his career at Melbourne, and in particular, I find it inexcusable that a professional sportsman should 'drop his head' throughout a full season, no matter what the reason.
