The critical point is that we cannot compromise our standards by rushing to make a decision now, from a list of candidates who don't quite measure up. If we can't nail the right Senior Assistant now, then we must wait until we can, because the long term interests of the Melbourne Footy Club depend on it. PJ and PR know this.

We wish!!
-
Yeah, or maybe we were keen to get Dew as our midfield coach, but not as the anointed Successor. We are all guessing at this point, and will probably never know!
-
What Wallis did to Greeny was a low act, Grand Final or not. Their sacking of Wallis is the only thing of value to the game that Essendon have done all year!
-
On the other hand, it's just possible that someone from the MFC whispered in Dew's ear that he isn't the number one choice for our Senior Assistant's gig, prompting him to extend his contract with Sydney.

Great. Many thanks!

Sorry Nasher. Unfortunately, I'm getting the above message when I click onto the Draft / Trade Rumours thread.
-
I agree 100%.

From the Sydney Swans website: THE Sydney Swans wish to thank departing coaches Leigh Tudor and George Stone. ................................................................................... Longmire said he wished to once again acknowledge the contribution of Stone, who was honoured as a life member of the Swans at last Friday night’s Club Champion Dinner. “George has made an enormous contribution to this club over the past 12 years and it is absolutely fitting that he departs as a life member,” Longmire said. “George has primarily worked in our opposition analysis and development areas and has been a key factor in the successful development of so many Swans players over the journey. “He has commuted to Sydney on a regular basis over the past few years and we understand that he wishes to remain in Melbourne full-time. “We thank him for everything he has done for the club and wish him all the best.

Thanks to both of them. Chris served the Club well on and off over a very long period and is a Life Member. Neil did a fantastic job in difficult circumstances during his short tenure. All the best for the future to both. edit: delete repetition

Thanks for all your hard yakka Nasher. Now, silky smooth with pace and grunt .... just like our 2014 midfield!
-
Rookie prospect 'bub?
-
Brilliant Nasher! Our first genuine star since .........??
-
Rohan works hard to get the ball then promptly butchers it far too often. I really like his courage, pace and work-rate, but his is iffy disposal, lack of composure and questionable decision making indicate to me that he will be spending a lot of time at Casey in 2014. Like quite a few others on our list, the step between VFL and AFL is a step too far for him.
-
A bit like a relationship breakup perhaps? A tinge of disappointment initially, but the prospect of someone new and exciting between the sheets.
-
Treacle ... and 502 Gateway errors.
-
Not sad and not glad about Col's decision .... just neutral, neither here nor there, hopefully move on to something better.
-
More of the same? Unfortunately, Col has made more than a few poor choices during his career.
-
Now much faster than our mid-field Thanks Nasher.
-
Telstra @ desktop combo. Some dead, dead slow periods over the last two days and a couple of gateway errors as well. Do your best guys, I'm sure you'll fix it like you always do!

Outstanding CV, which seems perfectly fitted for assisting with the rebuild of the Melbourne Footy Club from the foundations up. Welcome Kate, you have just embarked on a journey which you will never forget (hopefully for all the right reasons). ps. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you take out life membership of Demonland. Without question, it's the most informed place in the world about every aspect of MFC operations. (lol).
-
I thought he might offer something based on the fact that the Hawks had chased him 12 months earlier .... but I was very wrong!
-
The general consensus from Casey reports seems to be that Dom does some exciting things when he has the pill, but he doesn't get it often enough. He has time on his side, and is apparently quite driven to succeed, so I trust Roosy to get the best out of him. We will know in a year or so.
-
He is what he is ........ ie. a 'trier' who filled a hole in a poor list list. We are now (hopefully) upgrading our list, and James won't be part of it, but not everyone can be an A grade footballer. Good luck James!

Yeah, but it's a hell of a lot easier when you have close to an extra $ million in your salary cap.
