  1. The prospect of In-fighting at this time leaves me numb with disbelief.
  2. I know Sweet Fanny Adams about any of the candidates mentioned in this thread, but if only half of what Redleg has stated in post 21 is on the money, then I am very, very nervous about Stockdale.
  3. I'm accustomed to living through drought ....... but I want to be swept away when the floodgates open.
  4. When I read the title of this thread the famous words of the great Norm Smith immediately came to mind "I am Melbourne". It's as simple as that. I need reason beyond that to 'keep me going'.
  5. That's exactly my take Clint. He was very cagey with his choice of words, and despite every chance to rule it out completely, he chose not to. He may not be our coach in 2014, but there's no doubt in my mind that he still has it under consideration.
  6. Jimmy is involving himself more and is progressing nicely. I get the impression that he listens to what he is told and works hard to follow through on advice and instructions. Very confident that he is one recruitment decision we won't regret in years to come.
  7. 6. Nat. Jones 5. Frawley 4. Matt. Jones 3. Garland 2. Toumpas 1. Gawn
  8. ........ eventually wake up and realise that I'd been dreaming.
  9. That's putting far too much pressure on the kid in his first year. How about we just settle for the Norm Smith and leave it at that?
  10. Surely Harrods has heating!
  11. On the contrary, if they move to Melbourne, she might prefer to shop in London or New York.
  12. The AFL have stated that they will have a say in the composition of our new board. The Commission meets next Monday to discuss our assistance package, so it may become clearer after that.
  13. An absolute tragedy. Footy can be a brutal game, but at times like these it has a compassionate side. Time for the entire football community to dig deep for Casey, his partner and unborn babe. An important role here for the AFL.
  14. Sydney got the banana, we got the peel ............... (sorry Redleg!)
  15. I attended yesterday's pre-game function for interstate members hosted by Robbo. He volunteered that Roos is widely regarded as the best available coach out there, and the MFC is doing everything in it's power to sign him for next year. Part of this was typical Robbo showmanship, but there was a clear indication that the potential appointment of Roos is still very much part of the MFC agenda.
  16. Just back in Canberra after watching our team yesterday. FWIW (zilch), this is how I would have voted if I hadn't been beaten by the siren: 6. Terlich 5. Fitz. 4. Garland 3. T. Mac 2. Frawley 1. M. Jones
  17. We were first notified in April, spirit of norm.
  18. Really enjoyable last year, and well organised. Generous BBQ lunch, opportunity to meet with like-minded souls, a couple of injured players on hand who mixed freely with guests, ferry ride to the ground, and reserved seating with fellow Demons at the G. I'll be there again this year with my Demon wife and a couple of guests ................... just a pity we will be playing the Swans.
  19. ................ and me and Mrs Deeoldfart from freezing bloody Canberra.
  20. Will not die wondering, but rough around the edges, ie. similar to his predecessor (Barty) ...... but a better footballer.
  21. I'm very confident that Jimmy's skills and attitude will make him a very good player for the MFC. However, he's still lightly framed and learning to play against men, and my feeling is that his development is being rushed a bit because of the paucity of mids on our list. At this stage I doubt that he would have jagged a senior berth in more than about 4 other teams.
  22. Col has taken a quantum leap forward in the last couple of months, and is setting the benchmark that we all hope others aspire to and achieve.
  23. Two points out. I expect better from you Jack!
  24. I am confident that Watts will be true to his word, and I really appreciated Craig's refreshingly honest appraisal of where we are at in his presser.
