  1. Can someone tell me why everyone and their dog insists on adding the word "one" before a person's name these days? "One Sammy Allica, one James Hird, one T. Cloke?" Why not just say the person's name without the one in front of it. Yours Truly, "One" Chook
  2. Er . . . In a lot of card games, long suits are strong suits (ie they are one and the same).
  3. Look at me, I'm a Meltank supporter! Go Jordan McMahon! :Puke:
  4. It's human nature. We all want to be right, even at the expense of rationalism, progress, sanity, whatever.
  5. Screw "Clubman" (whatever that means)! Brad Miller is a great guy and I reckon everyone who barracks for Melbourne would be disappointed that he wasn't quite good enough. Usually when you see a guy his age get de-listed, some (or most) supporters are glad to see the back of them, but not Frosty. Good luck Brad, and feel free to give us some of the best-looking Father Son Picks ever in around twenty years.
  6. Echo.
  7. Really? Cause I would have sworn you were interested in the Melbourne Demons. I must have mistaken you for someone else then.
  8. Bennell: Incredible Disappearing Man Jurrah: I Just Jizzed Newton: Is Max GAWWWWWWWNNNNNN Moloney: Rugby player's build Rivers: Potential Courage Donor Morton: Needs Courage Transplant
  9. OUT: Warnock (we lack run with him in the side) Bennell (phases into another dimension for about 45 minutes every game), Newton (this guy is MAX GAWN), IN: Sylvia (der . . . clearly one of our best players), Macdonald (gives more sun than Warnock and is a better contested mark), Bate (brilliant Casey performance). Wholesale changes on the back of our first trip to AAMI in which we had more scores than our opponents this century would not be the right call, IMO. EDIT: Added Bate based on his good Casey performance. I'd also add Miller, but it appears that would be a waste of time.
  10. 6 - Jurrah 5 - Bruce 4 - McDonald 3 - Watts 2 - Wonaeamirri 1 - Scully
  11. Wait . . . what? On the one hand, he's been there too long, but on the other, he should have been kept there? One thing I'm really concerned about is our performances in ball-up/throw-in situations in our d50. Both last week and this week we were absolutely killed in this area. Conceded a total of around six goals just in this area. Say what you like about Jordie McKenzie and Nathan Jones, they are not good at this particular aspect of contested situations. "Ball watching" is the term I would like to use here. Trengove and Scully are also culprits, but they are often just buffeted off the ball, given their size problems. Cale Morton is a seriously flawed footballer and I think the Yze_Magics of the world have in him another Cameron Bruce; a player whose strengths they'll ignore and whose weaknesses they will never forget.
  12. Positives: Jurrah, Newton's last game, more scoring shots. When was the last time we had more scoring shots at AAMI?
  13. JURRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! MARK OF THE YEAR!!!!!! WHAT A STAR!!!!!
  14. Or more accurately, all clubs have some supporters who jump on and off.
  15. But don't you also think that Freo are wrong to have conceded a 100 point defeat to Hawthorn in the name of maximising the number of wins they can get? If so, is that a consistent view?
  16. Is it unethical to rest players today with an eye to winning tomorrow? Is it unethical to rest players in the NAB Cup games, so that they are fresh for Home and Away games, given that they mean more? Is it unethical to rest players in Home and Away games, so that they are fresh for Finals? Is it unethical to train players so that they peak in the Finals, even at the expense of the present? Is it unethical to rest players in the fourth quarter when you are a hundred points up, since the win is in the bag, even though you could still win by more? Is it unethical keep your youngsters, rather than trading them for players who are more experienced and can win you more games now? Is it unethical not to throw everything at a Grand Final, even if it might cost you future, sustained success? Where is the line drawn? Do ethics even exist at all, if they are not universally applied? Surely inconsistent ethical principles are simply illogically applied social customs.
  17. Yay! A JackWattsThread!
  18. Don't you think it is up to everyone to prove their point, regardless of how popular their opinion is?
  19. So is that the Draft that occurs at the end of the 2011 season, or the one at the end of the 2012 season?
  20. Pretty good work from Colin Sylvia, given that he's missed what, nine games.
  21. In Soviet Russia, Ball kicks you.
  22. I'm the opposite. I'd just love for someone to comment on my votes. To talk about why I loved who I did is one of the reasons I log on to Demonland so often.
  23. 6 Sylvia (Our clearance king today). 5 Rivers (Lifesaving marks as third man up. His kicking has also improved). 4 Jamar (Our only real strength that we knew we had going in to the game. Took some epic marks and really saved our butts in the third with some timely goals). 3 Bail (Brilliant young kid who is only going to get better). 2 Jurrah (Quite good in conditions that he probably isn't too used to). 1 Wonaeamirri (If only he was a little taller and couldn't get outmarked so easily).
  24. Hawthorn has to lose its' next two (Freo and Pies) by around 30 points and we have to win our next two (Port and North) by around the same margin. It's still possible, but I would play the guys who are going to be in our best 22 in the future. There's no point sacrificing anything now on the off chance that the results will go our way. That would be stupid.
  25. Yep. This is it. This is the way it should be. Win all three and we're in. Lose any and we're out. Focus only on this week and just follow the old Daniel Faraday rule of "Whatever Happens, Happens."
