  1. Hoping neither club picks him up by the close of trade week, and he decides to go into the pre-season draft where his 3rd choice of club picks him up
  2. With McLean gone, will Jones or Moloney now get the number 1 tag
  3. Perhaps a swap of third round draft picks may get it over the line.
  4. Watched the game in a pub in Seattle. I had to ask the bar staff to put the game on for me as nobody realised or cared that the GF was on. Once the game was on, still nobody realised or cared that the GF was on. The AFL's international department has a pile of work to do in raise AFL intrest in the USA.
  5. Perhaps they could package a half eaten ham sandwich for Tenace and D Johnson? I'd look at Gamble though. Stokes is surplus to our small fwd division of Aussie, Maric and Jetta.
  6. I'd deal pick 18. Will be a gun player. Has already kicked 7 goals in a game. He is exactly the forward we need. Watts & Jurrah will be great but Miller and Newton are just rubbish - thus we need to stock up on more key fwds. We already have picks 1,2 and 11. Now it's time to recruit players (but not hacks) with AFL experience.
  7. 4 first round draft picks is plenty. While 5 first round picks would be out of this world, I want a future A grade player in return for Davey as a straight swap. We need immediate compensation for the possible losses of both McLean and Davey. A player like Brent Prismall is what we deserve for losing Davey. I can see Essendon offerring up Andrew Lovett and pick 26 for Aaron Davey and pick 34. But the bottom line is I want a credible player for player swap, enough with the draft picks.
  8. A pleasing year from Petterd IMO. Comes out of contract at the end of 2010, so I'd imagine he'll go to the Gold Coast - being a local boy.
  9. 6-8 wins would get you around 12th to 14th.
  10. If TJ requested a trade back to Melbourne next year, I'd accommodate it. Perhaps a fourth or fifth rounder if were not planning on using it. At worst he'd be a depth player if we had a ton of injuries. You do realise he's playing seniors at the moment?
  11. I'll apologise when McLean gets 28 touches, 7 clearances, 6 tackles, and 2 goals when he's up against a quality team at a venue other than the MCG.
  12. People need to get over the sick fantasy that he'll end up in the PSD. If Port can't arrange a trade, he'll kiss and make up and play out his career with the club. See Ryan O'Keefe 12 months ago. The last 2 high proile players to enter the PSD were Jade Rawlings and Nick Stevens back in 2003, right? (Cousins is another story) If we want Shaun Burgoyne, we'll have to pay top dollar for him through the trade period. Thus he won't be at Melbourne next year. I expect us to take a punt on an un-proven speculative 18 year old at pick 1 in the PSD, rather going down the 'mediocre 26 year old Hayden Skipworth path'. I seriously doubt any player of decent callibre will be around come December!
  13. If the crystal ball told me Lovett would be injury free and stays out of trouble for 3 years, then I'd offer pick 18. Or maybe a 3rd round draft pick packaged with a promosing second tier youngster like a Jetta or a Cheney?
  14. We will never beat North Melbourne in our life time. I don't know why this average footy club has the wood on us. I'd expect to win 7 or 8 games and finish around 13th. Anything less and I'd be disapointed.
  15. I would've thought Jamar is a priority for the club to re-sign. Not untouchable, but clearly our best ruckman.
  16. Reminds me of Colin Sylvia. Lions would never entertain a trade.
  17. Agree! We need to direct the cheque book to a gun fwd or mid. Not that we'd get Lake anyway...Until we get off the bottom, why would players want to come to Melbourne? The Age reports that we're one of 3 clubs chasing the speedy Brett Peake from Freo. He'd be a handy recruit if we could trade no more than a 3rd rounder for him, or even via the PSD.
  18. Interesting. Considering the general consensus around here is that everyone is convinced Bennell is the next McLeod, while there has been no love for Nifty Nev.
  19. Knowing the AFL, this would probably end up being something resembling the Dees home fixture: Rd 2 - V's St Kilda MCG - Sunday 1:10pm Foxtel Rd 5 - V's North Melb, MCG - Sunday 2:10pm Ch 7 Rd 8 - V's W Bulldogs, Etihad - Sunday 1:10pm Foxtel Rd 9 - V's Sydney - Manuka - Sunday 1:10pm Foxtel Rd 12 - V's Port Adelaide, Darwin - Saturday 7:10pm Foxtel Rd 13 - V's West Coast, Etihad - Sunday 1:10pm Foxtel Rd 15 - V's Adelaide, MCG - Saturday 2:10pm Ch 10 Rd 17 - V's Brisbane, MCG - Sunday 2:10pm Ch 7 Rd 18 - V's Hawthorn, MCG - Sunday 1:10pm, Foxtel Rd 20- V's Richmond, MCG - Sunday 4:40pm, Foxtel Rd 21 - V's Fremantle - MCG - Sunday 1:10pm, Foxtel I'm expecting us to get royally screwed by the AFL: - No more Q b'day V Collingwood - No home games V's Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon - 2 home games at Etihad - in lieu of North and Carlton playing more home games at the G
  20. Wow that's optimistic Maybe for 2011. We can't play interstate. We can't play at Etihad Stadium. We've won just 5 games between 2007-09 against VIC clubs. 6 or 7 wins seems about right.
  21. Brock McLean, Neville Jetta/Jamie Bennell and pick 18 for pick 5.
  22. I would rather we chase a class midfielder like S Burgoyne or a Jarrod Roughead for pick 2 if we're going down that path.
  23. I'd delist Cheney ahead of McNamara. Cheney has terrible disposal, it has not improved at all this year.
  24. Miller and our 3rd round pick to Sydney for their second rd pick sound fair?
  25. Speaking of Garland, anyone know the latest? Will he be available for the start of pre-season?
