Tom McDonald (and Oscar) SIGNS.
Bring-Back-Powell replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I cannot see us playing finals next year or even winning 10-11 games if T Mac goes but we don't replace him with a competent and experienced B+ grade defender. We've already lost Frawley and Howe from our defence and potentially Jetta. Cannot afford to lose anything more. -
Saints a chance to play finals?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Cheesy D. Pun's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll be shattered if they make finals before us. But they certainly have the fixture to do it. They could easily be 9-7 as they have GC, Essendon and us over the next 3 weeks. -
Wagner on McGovern. Can't think on anyone else. Also Hunt on Cameron.
-
Crows might be mentally rattled in the first qtr as their minds are elsewhere. We need to hit them hard and put scoreboard pressure on them early. Is Jetta a genuine chance to be dropped? Would seem harsh given his very good season up until recently, but they did drop Garlett after 2 poor performances. My theory on Jetta's drop in form is that he's contemplating offers from other clubs.

Around The Grounds - Round 14
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Deemented Are Go!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Ok, "officially" was a probably a poor choice of words. How about- St Kilda are progressing better than us at the moment. The Saints have a had a tougher draw than us and had very honourable close losses against Hawthorn and North. Win next week against GC and they'll be 7-7, an easy draw to come and finals a slight possibility. Meanwhile we've had a very easy draw, beating our bunnies in Collingwood and Richmond as well as the rubbish QLD sides, and have a horror draw to come. The one thing we have over them is beating GWS at home. St Kilda will finish higher on the ladder than is which I'm disappointed about, because unlike the Dogs I thought we'd always be a bit ahead of them in our race to the finals. -
How many wins will we end up with in 2016

I'm more confident in us beating West Coast in Perth and Geelong in Geelong than us beating St Kilda at Etihad. Mission impossible. -

Bring-Back-Powell replied to Deemented Are Go!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
St Kilda have officially overtaken us as a club. Although it's arguable they were never behind us considering they keep beating us and we've only been 1 spot above them on the ladder the last 2 years. Great win by the Saints by finally taking a massive scalp. -

Agree. Players shouldn't cop stick for wearing long sleeves in 6 degrees. Was at the game and it was arctic like. Lucky it wasn't windy. -
Oscar McDonald will be the next Steve Silvagni .

If we can get 11 wins that would be a tremendous result. Would mean we've finally beaten some sides that have had the wood over us. Eg- Freo, St Kilda, Port and Carlton. -

Our game against Freo in 2 weeks is a Paul Roos statement game. Time and time again we travel up to the NT and put in disgraceful performances. And time and time again we can't back up after 6 day breaks. If we can't beat a 3 and 10 side on neutral soil, then serious questions need to asked about our progress. -
Tom McDonald (and Oscar) SIGNS.

My eyes must be playing tricks on me. Someone on this thread said Wagner is a better player than T McDonald!!! I think I finally need reading glasses because there is no way someone would actually type that around here. -
Hawks and Geelong will combine to get O'Meara, Crouch and Prestia. The other 8 VIC clubs will be forced to feed off the scraps / C graders.

Lachie Whitfield wants out of GWS
Bring-Back-Powell replied to defuture15's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yawn. Hawks or Geelong will get him. -
Bowen on afl.com yesterday speculated that one VIC club is heavily interested in him and the 2 WA clubs are sniffing around. A contract extension was almost done and dusted earlier in the year but the landscape has now changed with Jetta. I reckon something is playing on Jetta's mind and he's put in near career worst performances the last fortnight. One of Jetta, T Mac or Watts will be gone IMO. We always lose a player a year.
-
He'll be a good replacement for Jetta if he leaves.
-
Could Jack Watts be on the move next year? Headline of Nick Bowen's chat forum on afl.com.au today. It would just be plain bizarre if Watts left after a career best year, the happiest he's ever been at MFC and the fact that he declared that his coach saved his career. What is Bowen getting at?

I have done an injury ladder and have come up with the following. The number for each side represents the amount of players out for at least 1 week (from latest injury report) that are at least borderline 22. North Melb 8 Collingwood 8 Fremantle 8 Bulldogs 7 GC 6 Geelong 6 Port 5 Brisbane 5 ----------------------------- GWS 5 Richmond 4 St Kilda 4 Hawthorn 3 Sydney 3 Melbourne 3 Essendon 3 Carlton 2 West Coast 2 Adelaide 1 We certainly can't use injuries as an excuse for a 6-7 record.

Bring-Back-Powell replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
St Kilda are just too good for us. Both on the field and from the coaches box. One of the negatives of what will be the Paul Roos legacy is that we've continued to lose to the same teams that should not have been particularly hard assignments. eg -St Kilda, Port and Essendon. As another poster suggested, it's hard to say we've dramatically improved this year when we keep beating the same old same old - Pies, Tigers, Suns and Lions and keep losing to bottom 10 sides in Port and St Kilda. The Essendon loss was a disgrace by all involved in the club but Roos has to take most of the blame being the head coach. Let's see if he and the club can break some hoodoos in the second half of the year by beating Adelaide (MCG) , Freo (Darwin) St Kilda (Etihad) and Port (AO)...none of which are impossible. -

Agree with that. Probably against Gold Coast and Carlton if the ordinary version turn up that day. There are three certainties in life: 1) Death 2) Taxes 3) Losing to St Kilda -
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-20/ziebell-cleared-vince-fined Great news that he gets to face his old boys. It would be nice if he can keep out of the MRP for the rest of the year because it seems like he's in the review every Monday.
-
Vince will play V's Adelaide. Can accept $1000. Lucky boy but great that he can play his old mob. How many times has he cracked a mention in the MRP this year - five?

Great time to have the bye. Although I hope the 6 day break doesn't come back to bite us in the last qtr. -
NORTH BALLARAT v CASEY SCORPIONS

Matt Jones could be our version of Sam Gibson from North. A late starter who's getting better with age. -
Tom McDonald (and Oscar) SIGNS.

Why is it taking so long for key blokes like McDonald, Watts, Jetta and Kent to re-sign with the club. Or why is it taking so long for us to re-sign them if they want to stay?? The club's future has never been so exciting with some of the amazing talent under the age of 21 we have. Its not like 2014 anymore when we were a 4 win side and blokes like Frawley couldn't wait to get out of the joint. I'm probably being impatient but it's annoying watching up and coming teams like the Dogs and Saints re-signing absolutely all of their talent.
