  1. We make it with 12 wins if the following happens and we keep our percentage intact and Essendon and Adelaide both lose at least a game which they will: MELBOURNE WIN THE FOLLOWING GAMES: Bulldogs GC GWS NORTH LOSE THE FOLLOWING: Sydney (Etihad) Collingwood (MCG) West Coast (Hobart) Adelaide (Adelaide Oval) GWS LOSE THE FOLLOWING: Richmond (Spotless) Port (Adelaide Oval) Sydney (Spotless) Melbourne (MCG) The bottom line is it's critcal that GWS and North lose as many games as possible. We also probably won't make it with 12 wins if we lose to GWS in round 23. The GWS game is going to be the biggest game of our MFC supporting lives since the 2016 finals series.
  2. As much as a disaster it would be to be knocked out of finals due to losing another round 23 game, at least this time we'd be playing a semi decent side in GWS who would probably still be in finals contention. Unlike last year when we got beaten by an 8-13 rabble who had 9 of their best 22 out and had nothing to play for except for McGuire's vindication of keeping Buckley.
  3. In the tradition of Mitchell, Hodge and Lewis I'd laugh if he ends up playing elsewhere next year.
  4. I though the big bloke was off them for good.
  5. Frost was one of our key defenders up until that disastrous loss (we seem to be having a lot them lately) in Hobart in round 19. Then wasn't seen again. Frost had a mixed year last year but did do extremely well on Tex Walker in our great win over there. I think he needs to replace Petty next week as at least he'll provide pace and a bit of seniority. He'll also provide mistakes, but hey, most players were doing that on the weekend.
  6. Yeah, agree that we’ll probably only beat Freo and GC and finish the season at 10-12 after being 8-3 at the half way mark. If that were to eventuate, some serious questions need to be ask of the coach for an even worse second half than last years injury depleted one. Althogh in today’s environment, an AFL coach gets chance after chance after chance, so Goodwin will be safe for the next 5 years regardless.
  7. I first thought that too. But perhaps we just don't have the cattle. Our defence on paper is not good. When Oscar McDonald (who is still learning on the job) is your number 1 key defender at aged 21, I think we're in trouble.
  8. If we miss finals, I think we all just have to accept that we're simply not good enough and don't have the list or the players to win enough games to qualify. The hype of the media and the talk around the work water cooler may just be totally wrong about the MFC. We're simply a youngish mid table side that may or may not take the next step into finals over the next 1-3 years. It also seems to me that 2017 was a much easier year to qualify then 2018, given that you had a wildly inconsistent Essendon qualify and a West Coast side that appeared at the time to be on their last legs. 2017 may have been the year that got away for the MFC. I think we'll be be fighting tooth and nail to win 13 games.
  9. You can add Sydney to that. I just can't see us winning that game at the venue we play our worst footy at. Buddy will probably run amok.
  10. I'm not so sure about that. Collingwood play 5 of the current top 8 and all of the top 3, while us and North only play 3 top 8 sides. Hawthorn and Port play just 2. If Collingwood were to lose to Essendon next week or even GC this week up there (and Suns play far better at home) they'll actually be in a bit of trouble.
  11. So basically the club is conceding that this year's Darwin game is going to physically effect our run home this season. Not good. However, good news that we may be looking to get out of the deal. More than happy to have that home game transferred to Etihad given how well we play there and how badly we play at the MCG. Interesting that last year we had a good win over Port the week after Darwin, but then put in 2 lackluster performances against North and GWS (both interstate). So the flow on effects could last beyond the 1 week.
  12. Yeah thanks for that. Good memory or research by you. Was only focusing on Friday night home and away games and that final slipped my mind.
  13. If you're referring to that amazing 3 point win over Adelaide in Roosy's first year, that was a Saturday twilight.
  14. That's a useless stat IMO. We beat Port on a Saturday night over there in 2016. I guess if that game was on a Friday night we would've lost.
  15. When was the last time we played an interstate game on a Friday night? The most recent one I can think of was against Sydney in 2003 on Anzac Day when we blew a 20 point three qtr time lead and then conceded 10 last qtr goals.
  16. Watts is playing SANFL on Sunday, so they may decide not to play him anyway off the back of a 5 day break.
  17. So from that article we're paying 15% of Watt's salary in 2019. What a fantastic way to wee away $70,000.
  18. I don't think it would bother Jack too much if his AFL career ended. More time to head to Byron Bay throughout the year and sell his board shorts.
  19. So will Jack Watts replace Marshall who had a poor 2 mark 2 behind game? Would be pretty stiff on the kid if Hinkley dropped him after his emotional return. FWIW, I'd rather Watts not play. I couldn't hack him kicking 4 goals and celebrating like he's won the flag.
  20. Bring-Back-Powell replied to a post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Could be worse. Could be Simon Lethlean.
  21. Totally off topic but it's fact that in 2014 GWS tried to trade picks 4 and 7 to St Kilda for pick 1 in order to secure Petracca. GWS were so desperate for him pre draft.
  22. Not fussed if he leaves at the end of the year but I still think he has a role to play in the last 6 or so weeks. Could easily get a game over Hannan or Spargo and we're crying out for pace.
  23. Hasn’t gotten over his chance encounter with Lebron James and is too busy writing his AFL Hall of fame speech.
  24. I'd focus on re-signing Brayshaw and T Mac first. Then Gaff comes after that.
  25. Surprised St Kilda have more members (500-1000) than us considering we've had more members than them the last 3 years, and also factoring in their horrid start to the season. We have 3,000 more members than North, who themselves have slipped a little over the last couple of years. The Dogs don't publish their number but I suspect their membership has shrunk since the 16-17 off season.
