I don't care if they get one. They're an absolute basket case and deserve pick 1 ahead of the drug cheats. The AFL have looked after us over the years. Just remember the AFL awarded us pick 23ish for Sylvia which we then on-traded for Bernie Vince. In reality we should've been given a half eaten ham sandwich for him, given his output at Freo.

I seriously doubt we'd get a second rounder for Dunn considering we totally ditched him all year, due to a poor performance against St Kilda. Dunn's 3 games prior to the St Kilda were of good quality. We have no bargaining power I would've thought?? I'd expect a 4th rounder or one of those of draft picks when we gain about 8 places in the third round.

Barlow was playing career best footy after his spell in the WAFL. He had 40 touches and 2 goals in their narrow win over Port Adel and was the clear difference. Barlow's form had improved so much to the extent that we were celebrating his injury omission prior to our win over them. I would be seriously considering him if we can get him on the cheap...and would expect him to play 20+ games.

Jon Ralph made a brief mention of a potential Essendon V Melbourne round 1 match next year, in a HUN article today.

Speaking of old favourites, any one know what happened to Yze Magic? He's not Hogan's Hero's by any chance?
-
Yes please, as long as he's not expensive in price and draft picks. I've wanted him ever since he kicked 4 goals against the Pies on a Friday night in 2013. Would be a handy player that you could get 16-18 games out of like Bugg and Kennedy. As someone earlier mentioned, ANB for Lyons if ANB wants to return to SA. I can't see ANB getting a game next year unless we have a bad run of injuries.

We need to get older and if getting a proven quantity in Dal Santo makes us older then fine. I don't know about everyone else, but I got a bit sick of the club blaming every loss on inexperience and youth. We should've kept a really good AFL player in Cross (who was desperate to play on and averaged 31 touches in his final 2 games).

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
II wonder if he'll crack the top 14 in the Bluey? -
Pass. I think our defence will be outstanding next year with the 2 Macs, Frost, Hibberd, Hunt, Harry LaBamba (yes he'll be playing next year) and depth in Wagner and Garland/Dunn if they hang around. We have other areas of concern - i.e. pacy mids, resting ruck etc..

He actually had a purple patch mid season, culiminating in a 40 possession games against Port. He was in career best form before injury killed his year. A yes please from me.

Post Season Discussion 2016

How was the Port loss in Alice Springs an upset loss? I think we were $2.15 going into the game. -
Hopefully their Mad Monday drinks taste like they way played on Saturday - and it ain't from the top shelf.

The most horrifying thing about yesterday was it was pretty much our best 22. i could sort of accept yesterday if we had 8-10 of our best 22 out, but we had our likely 2017 Rd 1 side ( minus M Jones and possibly Bugg and Harmes). Next year it's unlikely we won't have the dream injury run that we did this year.

C'mon guys why so negative about Harvey? We recruited our most hated player of all time - Gary Moorcroft in 02/03. If we traded for Moorcroft we can trade for anyone.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?

One last one to end the season: Haven't tasted success against Geelong on a Saturday afternoon since rd 20 2005. -
Exactly. I umpired in the Eastern Footy League under Kevin Smith (4 time VFL grand final umpire). He always said that the free kick count was the most irrelevant factor in assessing the performance of an umpire. If an umpire paid 30-0 free kicks in favour of one side, that's fine as long as the frees and non frees were paid correctly. People blaming the umpires for yesterday's debacle need to get a grip.

I did and they're already on eBay

Exact replica of last years game against them. Carlton have come out as if it's their grand final and we're as flat as a pancake

Bombers Request Friday Night Game In Round 1 2017
Bring-Back-Powell replied to solly21's topic in Melbourne Demons
The reason we always play Essendon and Carlton as away games at the G is because the MCC requests this. This is to ensure we play as many games at the MCG as possible. -
They also hosted North at Etihad.

Meanwhile a Jimmy Toumpas update at Adelaide Oval: 2 possessions, 1 out on the full, 1 free against, 1 dropped mark that required courage.
-
Port Adel v Adelaide: Jimmy Toumpas playing for his career. First disposal - out on the full.

I'm only going by what the footy public are saying about the Saints but they've done a terrific job in going 12-10 for the season (most likely) and appear to be heading in the exact same trajectory as us. And yes I hate them too, purely because we haven't beaten them since 2006. I don't hate Hawthorn as much anymore
